Clinical and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Outcomes of Microfracture Plus Chitosan/Blood Implant vs Microfracture for Osteochondral Lesions of the Talus.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) outcomes of arthroscopic microfracture (MF) plus chitosan-glycerol phosphate/blood implant and MF alone for the treatment of the osteochondral lesions of the talus (OCLTs).

Methods: Patients who underwent either MF plus chitosan (group 1, n = 32) or MF alone (group 2, n = 31) between 2015 and 2019 in 2 separate time periods were retrospectively analyzed. Visual analog scale (VAS) score and American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) score were used for clinical evaluation.

Effect of perivascular low dose ethanol on rat femoral vessels: Preliminary study.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Outcomes of Osteochondral Lesions of the Talus Associated With Ankle Fractures.

Background: Osteochondral lesions of the talus (OCLTs) secondary to ankle fractures have previously been reported in the literature. However, no study has evaluated OCLTs using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) following ankle fracture treatment. The purpose of our study was to investigate accompanying OCLTs in patients with an ankle fracture and evaluate its relationship with the clinical outcomes.

Five-year outcomes of small-incision lenticule extraction vs femtosecond laser-assisted laser in situ keratomileusis: a contralateral eye study.

Purpose: To compare the long-term refractive and visual outcomes and the corneal higher-order aberrations of contralateral eyes of patients who received small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) in one eye and femtosecond laser-assisted laser in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) in the other eye.

Setting: Refractive Surgery Clinic of the University of Health Sciences Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.

Multimodal imaging of type 1 aneurysmal telangiectasia in a Turkish female with giant arteriovenous aneurysmal malformation.

We present a case with giant arteriovenous aneurysmal malformation with different imaging modalities, including fundus photography, fundus fluorescein angiography, spectral domain optical coherence tomography, and optical coherence tomography angiography. A 43-year-old Turkish female presented with gradual blurred vision in her left eye. Her best-corrected visual acuity was 20/200.

The relationships between attachment quality, metacognition, and somatization in adolescents: The mediator role of metacognition.

Problem: To investigate the associations between attachment quality, metacognition problems, and somatization.

Methods: One thousand and seven adolescents between the ages of 14-17 were included in the study. They completed the DSM-V Level 2 Somatic Symptoms Scale, the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (short version), the Metacognitions Questionnaire for Children (MCQ-C), and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire.

Relationship between interleukin-17A and isolated coronary ectasia.

The aim of this study was to evaluate serum interleukin (IL)-17A levels in patients with coronary artery ectasia (CAE), the relationship between IL and 17A and CAE, and to determine the relationship between the severity of coronary ectasia and the level of IL-17A. In total, 41 patients (19 female and 22 male) with ischemic symptoms whose non-invasive cardiac tests were positive for myocardial ischemia, and in whom coronary artery ectasia were detected after coronary angiography, and 45 patients (32 female and 13 male) with normal coronary arteries were included in this study. Echocardiographic assessments were performed.

Hand functions in patients with schizophrenia: A clinical comparison with bipolar disorder and healthy subjects.

Objective: Failure to achieve expected level of motor functioning may be a significant contributor to social withdrawal and further attenuation of life quality in patients with schizophrenia. Hand functioning is one of the most crucial entities in that manner. This study aimed to reveal this question by means of comparing patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder who are receiving similar antipsychotic psychopharmacological agents along with healthy control subjects.

Effect of Suturation Plus Surgicel Application on Post-Tonsillectomy Bleeding and Pain.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of suturation (tonsillary fossa closure) plus Surgicel application on postoperative bleeding and pain after tonsillectomies performed using a classical dissection method.

Study Design: A prospective, randomized, double-blind, clinical trial was performed on 760 patients undergoing tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy during a 5-year period.

Methods: After excluding patients with hemorrhagic disorder, chronic disease, and peritonsillar abscess, both tonsils were removed via classic dissection technique (cold knife or blunt dissection) and then electrocauterized for hemostasis.

The Risk of Atrial Fibrillation With Ivabradine Treatment: A Meta-analysis With Trial Sequential Analysis of More Than 40000 Patients.

Recent trials reported that risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) is increased in patients using ivabradine compared with controls. We performed this meta-analysis to investigate the risk of AF association with ivabradine treatment on the basis of data obtained from randomized controlled trials (RCTs). We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library for RCTs that comprised >100 patients.

The effect of anatomical factors on mortality rates after endovascular aneurysm repair.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of anatomical characteristics on mortality rates after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

Methods: We investigated 56 EVAR procedures for infrarenal aortic aneurysms performed between January 2010 and December 2013, and the data were supplemented with a prospective review. The patients were divided into two groups according to the diameter of the aneurysm.

Comparing the effectiveness of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio as a mortality predictor on middle and advanced age coronary artery bypass graft patients.

Objective: In this study, the effect of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), which is a recently developed inflammatory parameter, as an early stage mortality predictive marker on coronary artery bypass (CABG) patients of various age groups was examined.

Methods: Seventy eight patients under the age of 45 (Group 1) and 80 patients who were older than 45 (Group 2) randomly chosen from the patients who underwent isolated CABG surgery, were examined. The preoperative characteristics and NLRs were noted.

Introduction: We aimed to evaluate the effects of Losartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker, on serum inflammatory markers, plasma thiol groups, and oxidative stres indexes among patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) treatment.

Patients And Methods: Fiftytwo end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients undergoing chronic HD programme for at least 12 months, and thirty age and gender matched healthy volunteers were enrolled into this prospective clinical trial. Plasma levels of thiol groups (SH), total antioxidant capacitiy (TAC), and total oxidant status (TOS) were studied.

Relationship between TIMI frame count and admission glucose values in acute ST elevation myocardial infarction patients who underwent successful primary percutaneous intervention.

Objective: Admission hyperglycemia is associated with poor prognosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Final Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) frame counts of culprit coronary arteries may show significant variability despite successful coronary reperfusion after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In this prospective observational study, relationship between final TIMI frame counts of the culprit coronary artery and admission glucose values was investigated in patients who underwent successful primary PCI due to acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
