It is well recognized by the general public that breastfeeding expends calories. In our clinical practice, a number of postpartum women with a history of or a current eating disorder (ED) report using breastfeeding and/or pumping breast milk to influence their body shape and weight. This appears to be either a form of weight control behavior or, in some cases, a compensation for perceived overeating or binge eating.

Background Fetal diagnosis of congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) has been increasingly reported; however, predictors of clinical outcomes remain underexplored. We undertook a multicenter, retrospective study to investigate natural history, associated anomalies, and outcomes of fetal ccTGA. Methods and Results Fetuses with ccTGA diagnosed from January 2004 to July 2020 within 20 North American programs were included.

Background: The proliferation of e-cigarette content on YouTube is concerning because of its possible effect on youth use behaviors. YouTube has a personalized search and recommendation algorithm that derives attributes from a user's profile, such as age and sex. However, little is known about whether e-cigarette content is shown differently based on user characteristics.

Approximately 50% of patients who recover from the acute SARS-CoV-2 experience Post Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) syndrome. The pathophysiological hallmark of PASC is characterized by impaired system oxygen extraction (EO) on invasive cardiopulmonary exercise test (iCPET). However, the mechanistic insights into impaired EO remain unclear.

We aimed to estimate the cumulative risk of new CVD in the first 24 months postpartum among pregnant individuals diagnosed with prenatal depression compared with patients without depression diagnosed during pregnancy. Methods and Results Our longitudinal population-based study included pregnant individuals with deliveries during 2007 to 2019 in the Maine Health Data Organization's All Payer Claims Data.

Background Patients with severe-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD) were excluded from femoropopliteal disease trials evaluating drug-coated balloons (DCBs) and drug-eluting stents (DESs) versus plain balloon angioplasty (POBA) and bare metal stents (BMSs). We examined the interaction between CKD status and device type for the association with 24-month all-cause mortality and major amputation risk. Methods and Results We studied patients undergoing femoropopliteal interventions (September 2016-December 2018) from Medicare-linked VQI (Vascular Quality Initiative) registry data.

Background The duration and magnitude of increased stroke risk after a hospitalization for acute systolic heart failure (HF) remains uncertain. Methods and Results The authors performed a retrospective cohort study using claims (2008-2018) from a nationally representative 5% sample of Medicare beneficiaries aged ≥66 years. Cox regression models were fitted separately for the groups with and without acute systolic HF to examine its association with the incidence of ischemic stroke after adjustment for demographics, stroke risk factors, and Charlson comorbidities.

Importance: There is a need to better assess the cumulative effect on morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. This study evaluates a patient-centered performance metric (days alive and out of hospital [DAOH]) for durable LVAD therapy.
Objective: To determine the incidence of percent of DAOH before and after LVAD implantation and (2) explore its association with established quality metrics (death, adverse events [AEs], quality of life).
As the worldwide prevalence of overweight and obesity continues to rise, so too does the urgency to fully understand mediating mechanisms, to discover new targets for safe and effective therapeutic intervention, and to identify biomarkers to track obesity and the success of weight loss interventions. In 2016, the American Heart Association sought applications for a Strategically Focused Research Network (SFRN) on Obesity. In 2017, 4 centers were named, including Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, New York University Grossman School of Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

This study employed a convergent parallel (QUAN + QUAL) mixed methods research design to capture ESPs' affective experiences and use of social and emotional learning (SEL). Data were collected in partnership with the National Education Association across 4 weeks through a survey including open and closed-ended questions.
