Department of Urology, the Affiliated Xuzhou Municipal Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou No. 1 People's Hospital, Xuzhou, 221004, PR China.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common malignancy affecting men globally. Recent advances in metabolomics have highlighted significant alterations in specific amino acid (AA) metabolism linked to PCa, indicating their potential utility in diagnosis and therapy. However, no direct causal association between serum AA levels and PCa risk has been established.

Inadequate tissue volume at the lower pole of the breast following tumor excision can compromise aesthetic outcomes when employing the conventional inverted-T reconstruction technique. With the aim of reducing postoperative deformities, we have refined this technique. A total of 104 patients underwent the T technique, while 32 underwent the modified T technique and 72 underwent the traditional T technique.

Prostate cancer (PCa) remains a leading cause of cancer-related incidence and mortality in men. Disruptions in amino acid (AA) metabolism contribute to the disease progression, with brucine, a glycine antagonist, exhibiting antitumor effects. This study explores the antitumor impact of brucine on PCa and investigates its mechanisms in regulating AA metabolic pathways.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a subtype of lung cancer with high incidence and mortality globally. Emerging evidence suggests that circular RNAs (circRNAs) exert critical functions in human cancers, including LUAD. CircRNA_100549 (circ_100549) has been reported to be significantly upregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) samples, while its role in modulating LUAD progression remains to be explored.

The efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cells for solid tumors remains unsatisfactory due to the limited tumor infiltration and immunosuppressive microenvironment. To overcome these limitations, the genetically engineered recombinant oncolytic adenoviruses (OAVs) that conditionally replicate in tumor cells were developed to modify the tumor microenvironment (TME) to facilitate CAR-T-mediated tumor eradication. Here in the present study, a novel recombinant OAV carrying CCL5, IL12, and IFN-γ controlled by Ki67 promoter was constructed (named AdKi67-C3).

Fundus ultrasound image classification is a critical issue in the medical field. Vitreous opacity (VO) and posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) are two common eye diseases, Now, the diagnosis of these two diseases mainly relies on manual identification by doctors. This method has the disadvantages of time-consuming and manual investment, so it is very meaningful to use computer technology to assist doctors in diagnosis.

MicroRNAs play a critical regulatory role in different cancers, but their functions in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have not been elucidated. Reportedly, miR-142-3p is involved in the tumorigenesis and the development of RCC in vitro and is clinically correlated with the poor prognosis of RCC patients. However, the molecular target of miR-142-3p and the underlying mechanism are unclear.

Inflammatory responses in the brain contribute to cognitive deficits. Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), a critical transcription factor in inflammatory responses, is activated in post-stroke cognitive deficit. Baihui (DU20) and Shenting (DU24) acupoints, the main acupoints of Du Meridian, are widely used to improve cognitive deficits in Chinese patients with stroke.

Development and validation of a nomogram to predict occult cervical metastasis in early oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Ann Transl Med

January 2023

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China.

Background: Lack of adequate objectivity and universality, available models are still difficult to be applied to clinical practice in predicting occult cervical metastasis of early oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Taking abnormal metabolic state into consideration, the current model is helpful to distinguish those patients with or without occult cervical metastasis.

Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 330 OSCC patients initially diagnosed cT1-2N0M0 stage and received neck dissection from January 2020 to July 2022.

Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses the limitations of diagnosing thyroid nodules, particularly level 3 of the TI-RADS, due to similar features between benign and malignant nodules, resulting in misdiagnoses and unnecessary biopsies.
  • A new classification model called TC-ViT, which utilizes a Vision-Transformer and contrast learning, is proposed to enhance the accuracy and specificity of thyroid nodule diagnoses.
  • TC-ViT has demonstrated an impressive accuracy of 86.9% and outperforms traditional deep learning methods, making it an effective tool for automatic classification of TI-RADS 3 and malignant nodules in ultrasound images.

β2-Microglobulin exacerbates neuroinflammation, brain damage, and cognitive impairment after stroke in rats.

Neural Regen Res

March 2023

Department of Neurobiology, Xuzhou Key Laboratory of Neurobiology, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.

β2-Microglobulin (β2M), a component of the major histocompatibility complex class I molecule, is associated with aging-related cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease. Although upregulation of β2M is considered to be highly related to ischemic stroke, the specific role and underlying mechanistic action of β2M are poorly understood. In this study, we established a rat model of focal cerebral ischemia by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery.

Neurotox Res

June 2022

Department of Pain Medicine, First Medical Center, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, 100853, China.

Isoflurane (ISO) has been widely used in clinical anesthesia, and exposure to ISO leads to cognitive dysfunction. Our paper aimed to investigate the effect of miR-128-3p on cognitive impairment, inflammation, and oxidative stress elicited by ISO anesthesia in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. The SD rats were treated with ISO to mimic the ISO-injured situation, and the concentration of miR-128-3p was quantified utilizing real-time PCR.

Peroxidase-like nanozymes have led to important progress in biosensing, but most of nanozyme sensing systems are currently established by a single-signal output mode, which is susceptible to environmental and operational factors. Thus construction of a dual-signal output nanozyme sensing system is essential for obtaining reliable and robust performance. In this study, a novel peroxidase mimicking nanozyme was developed by decorating magnetic ring-like FeO with gold nanoparticles (R-FeO/Au) for the colorimetric and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) dual-mode detection of biomolecules in human serum.
