Exploring the efficacy of (R)-PFI-2 hydrochloride in mitigating noise-induced hearing loss by targeting NLRP3 inflammasome and NF-κB pathway to reduce inner ear inflammation.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is primarily driven by inflammatory processes within the cochlea, where noise exposure triggers the activation of the NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, leading to an inflammatory cascade. The interaction between increased NLRP3 expression and NF-κB activity can further amplify cochlear inflammation. Our findings reveal that (R)-PFI-2 hydrochloride, a selective inhibitor of the SETD7 enzyme, effectively inhibits the activation of the cochlear NF-κB pathway, suppresses the release of pro-inflammatory factors, and prevents inflammasome assembly.

Investigating the expression profiles of cysteine string proteins (CSPs) in cochlear tissue.

Objective: This study aims to explore the expression patterns of cysteine string protein alpha (CSPα) and cysteine string protein beta (CSPβ) in the mammalian inner ear, with an emphasis on their temporal dynamics during the developmental stages of C57BL/6 mice.

Methods: We utilized immunofluorescence staining to assess the localization and distribution of CSPα and CSPβ within the inner ears of C57BL/6 mice and miniature pigs. Additionally, this method facilitated the investigation of their temporal expression profiles.

The mediating effect of job burnout on the relationship between practice environment and workplace deviance behavior of nurses in China: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Faced with a shortage of nurses in China, the factors affecting the stability of the nursing workforce require urgent attention. The workplace deviance behavior of nurses is considered an important behavior in clinical practice, which will bring negative effects and affect the development of nurse team. However, no research has been done to examine the associations among workplace deviance behavior of nurses, practice environment and job burnout.

Intertransverse process block versus subcostal transversus abdominis plane block in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy: a prospective randomized controlled trial.

Background: Laparoscopic radical gastrectomy has been reported to be associated with substantial trauma and pain. This study compared the impact of ultrasound-(US)-guided, bilateral, double-injection intertransverse process block (ITPB) on postoperative analgesia with subcostal transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) in patients who were undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy.

Methods: Sixty-two patients who were undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy surgery under general anesthesia were included.

A Multifunctional Nanozyme Hydrogel with Antibacterial, Antioxidative, and Photo-Induced Nitric Oxide-Supplying Properties for Promoting Infected Wound Healing.

To design a multifunctional nanozyme hydrogel with antibacterial, photo-responsive nitric oxide-releasing, and antioxidative properties for promoting the healing of infected wounds. We first developed ultra-small silver nanoparticles (NPs)-decorated sodium nitroprusside-doped Prussian blue (SNPB) NPs, referred to as SNPB@Ag NPs, which served as a multifunctional nanozyme. Subsequently, this nanozyme, together with geniposide (GE), was incorporated into a thermo-sensitive hydrogel, formulated from Poloxamer 407 and carboxymethyl chitosan, creating a novel antibacterial wound dressing designated as GE/SNPB@Ag hydrogel.

[Comparison of the efficacy and safety between high-dose intravenous iron and oral iron in treating iron deficiency anemia: a multicenter, prospective, open-label, randomized controlled study].

This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety between high-dose intravenous iron and oral iron in treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA) . This prospective randomized controlled study (1∶1) enrolled 338 patients with IDA at The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, Suzhou Hongci Hematology Hospital, and Huai'an Second People's Hospital from June 1, 2022, to January 19, 2024. Of all the patients, 169 received high-dose intravenous iron therapy and 169 received oral iron treatment for 12 weeks of observation.

The role and clinical implications of HIF-PHI daprodustat in dialysis-dependent and non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease anemic patients: a general review.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients often suffer from complications such as anemia as the kidney function declines. More than 25% of CKD hemodialysis patients in China are complicated with renal anemia due to renal and hepatic impairment in the production of erythropoietin (EPO). In recent years, prolyl hydroxylase domain (PHD) inhibitors have been approved in China and Japan for the treatment of CKD patients complicated with anemia.

Effect of different intraoperative blood pressure regulation levels on postoperative myocardial injury in patients undergoing radical mastectomy for breast cancer after receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy: a study protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

Introduction: For patients with breast cancer receiving preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy with anthracyclines, there is an increased risk of postoperative myocardial injury due to the cardiotoxicity of the chemotherapeutic agents. The optimal intraoperative blood pressure regulation regimen for these patients is unclear. This study is being conducted to determine whether targeting mean arterial pressure (MAP) to 100%-120% of the patient's baseline blood pressure reduces the incidence of myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) compared with targeting MAP to 80%-100%.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is highly prone to early relapse and metastasis following standard treatment. CXCL8 is a key factor in tumor invasion and metastasis, but its role in TNBC prognosis and clinicopathological correlations remains poorly understood. This study investigated CXCL8 expression and its clinical significance in TNBC to develop a prognostic nomogram for guiding intensive treatment and follow-up strategies.

The widely used Radix Astragali (RA) has significant therapeutic effects on cognitive impairment (CI) caused by type 2 diabetes (T2DM). However, the effective active ingredients and the precise mechanism underly RA alleviation of T2DM-induced CI still require further study. In this study, we aim to elucidate whether and how jaranol, a key effective active ingredient in RA, influences CI in db/db mice.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of first-line combination chemotherapy regimens for metastatic pancreatic cancer and evidence-based pricing strategy of liposomal irinotecan in China.

Background: The phase III NAPOLI-3 trial, which upgraded FOLFIRINOX (leucovorin, fluorouracil, irinotecan and oxaliplatin) to NALIRIFOX (liposomal irinotecan, oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and fluorouracil), demonstrated the superiority of NALIRIFOX over GEMNABP (gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel) as the first-line treatment for metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The purpose of this study was to assess the cost-effectiveness of NALIRIFOX, FOLFIRINOX, and GEMNABP, and to simulate the price of liposomal irinotecan at which NALIRIFOX could achieve cost-effectiveness.

Methods: A partitioned survival model was performed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of NALIRIFOX, FOLFIRINOX and GEMNABP from the perspective of the Chinese healthcare system.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical activity, sedentary behavior and stroke in people aged 60 years and older.

Methods: The study included 3,010 participants aged 60 and older from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Data on sedentary behavior, physical activity and stroke were obtained through questionnaires.

Methods: This study included 30 patients with 36 implants divided into three groups: zirconia (Zr)-one-piece custom abutment, titanium (Ti)-custom abutment, and Ti-original abutment. Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine alterations in the microgaps at the IAIs under functional loading.

Coordination patterns and variability were assessed for the shank, rearfoot, and forefoot segments using a modified vector coding technique during running.

This study aimed to identify the correlation of serum 25(OH)D level with sarcopenia and its components in Chinese elderly aged 65 years and above from rural areas. A total of 368 Chinese elderly aged 65 years and above in rural areas were enrolled. Indicators of muscle mass and strength, including the appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASM), skeletal muscle index (SMI) and hand grip strength (HGS) were measured.

Introduction: Residual dizziness (RD) is common in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) after successful canalith repositioning procedures. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of vestibular rehabilitation (VR) on BPPV patients experiencing RD, and to explore the impact of VR on functional connectivity (FC), specifically focusing on the bilateral parietal operculum (OP) cortex.

Methods: Seventy patients with RD were randomly assigned to either a four-week VR group or a control group that received no treatment.

Objective: Osteoporosis is a systemic disease with high morbidity and significant adverse effects. This study evaluated the antioxidant properties of dichotomitin (DH) and its potential protective effects against osteoporosis.

Background: In China many respiratory pathogens stayed low activities amid the COVID-19 pandemic due to strict measures and controls. We here aimed to study the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of pediatric inpatients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) after the mandatory COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, in comparison to those before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: We here included 4,296 pediatric patients with MPP, hospitalized by two medical centers in Jiangsu Province, China, from January 2015 to March 2024.

TRADD-mediated pyroptosis contributes to diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Regulated cell death like pyroptosis is one vital cause of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM), which eventually leads to heart failure. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor-associated death domain protein (TRADD) is an adapter protein with multiple functions that participates in the pathophysiological progress of different cardiovascular disorders via regulating regulated cell death. Studies have shown that TRADD combines with receptor-interacting protein kinase 3 (RIPK3) and facilitates its activation, thereby mediating TNF-induced necroptosis.
