Background: Neonatal respiratory failure (NRF) is a critical condition with high morbidity and mortality rates. This study aimed to develop a nomogram prediction model to early predict the risk of death in Chinese neonates with NRF.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on NRF neonates from 21 tertiary neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across 13 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province, China, from March 2019 to March 2022.

Background: Newborn screening (NBS) aims to detect congenital anomalies, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) has shown promise in this aspect. However, the NBS strategy for monogenic inherited diseases in China remains insufficient.

Methods: We developed a NeoEXOME panel comprising 601 genes that are relevant to the Chinese population found through extensive research on available databases.

The euploidy of embryos is unpredictable before transfer in in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments without pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT). Previous studies have suggested that morphokinetic characteristics using an artificial intelligence (AI)-based model in the time-lapse monitoring (TLM) system were correlated with the outcomes of frozen embryo transfer (FET), but the predictive effectiveness of the model for euploidy remains to be perfected. In this study, we combined morphokinetic characteristics, morphological characteristics of blastocysts, and clinical parameters of patients to build a model to predict the euploidy of blastocysts and live births in PGT for aneuploidy treatments.

To fully grasp the numerical characteristics of the interaction process between medical waterjet and soft tissue, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH)-finite element method (FEM) was used in the simulation of this complex process to avoid the unstable error caused by indirect measurement in experiments. The SPH was applied to the numerical simulation of medical waterjet, and a three-dimensional model of gelatin sample was proposed with the FEM. The impact process between two extremely deformed materials was reproduced, and the established model was verified by comparison with experimental data; the comparison showed relatively consistent results.

Electronic address:

Increasing evidence shows that the early onset of puberty in female offspring may be caused by maternal prenatal exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) during pregnancy; however, the critical time window of maternal prenatal BPA exposure remains unknown. Here, we identify the critical time window of gestational BPA exposure that induces early onset of puberty in female offspring. Pregnant CD-1 mice were gavaged with BPA (8 mg/kg) daily during the early gestational stage (GD1-GD6), middle gestational stage (GD7-GD12) or late gestational stage (GD13-GD18).

With an increasing elderly population worldwide, the incidence of spine degenerative diseases with neck and shoulder pain as the main symptom is rising obviously, which has now become one of the important and difficult problems in sociomedical science. This study was to explore the effects of different ratios of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) compound to the autogenous bone on cervical interbody fusion. 90 cervical degeneration patients with the need of surgical treatment admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were selected as the research objects and equally divided into group A, group B, and group C according to the order of admission, with 30 cases in each group and the ratios of rhBMP-2 compound to autogenous bone being 2 : 1, 1 : 1, and 1 : 2 respectively, and standard anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion (ACDF) treatment was performed to all patients to compare their surgery-related indexes, the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, the visual analog scale (VAS) score, the effect of cervical interbody fusion, and the postoperative complication rate (CR).

SPINT1-AS1 Drives Cervical Cancer Progression via Repressing miR-214 Biogenesis.

Department of Research and Development, Shanghai Lichun Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China.

Accumulating evidences have revealed the dysregulated expressions and critical roles of non-coding RNAs in various malignancies, including cervical cancer. Nevertheless, our knowledge about the vast majority of non-coding RNAs is still lacking. Here we identified long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) SPINT1-AS1 as a novel cervical cancer-associated lncRNA.

Expression and clinical significance of WW domain-containing oxidoreductase (WWOX), Elf5, Snail1 and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) related factors in epithelial ovarian cancer were investigated. Ovarian cancer tissues of 300 epithelial ovarian cancer patients and the adjacent normal tissues were analyzed. Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expressions of WWOX, Elf5, Snail1 and EMT marker molecules in the specimens.

Objective: To investigate the growth and development of very low birth weight (VLBW)/extremely low birth weight (ELBW) preterm infants within the corrected age of 6 months and the effect of different feeding patterns on growth and development.

Methods: A total of 109 VLBW/ELBW preterm infants who were discharged from January 2016 to April 2017 and who had completed regular follow-up were enrolled, and their growth and development within the corrected age of 6 months were monitored. The Z-score method was used to evaluate physical indices and analyze the effect of different feeding patterns (breastfeeding group: breast milk + human milk fortifier; mixed feeding group: breast milk + preterm formula milk; artificial feeding: preterm formula milk) on growth and development.

Objective: To investigate the incidence and mortality rates of preterm infants and the main causes of death.

Methods: The basic information of preterm infants was collected from their medical records and admission/discharge records to analyze the incidence and mortality rates of preterm infants and the causes of their death.

Results: There were 76 812 neonates born in the Xuzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2006 to December 2016, among whom 5 585 (7.
