Background: The prevalence of depression among adolescents has been gradually increasing with the COVID-19 pandemic, and the purpose of this study was to develop and validate logistic regression models to predict the likelihood of depression among 6-17 year olds.
Methods: We screened participants from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) in 2022. Independent risk factors were identified via univariate logistic regression analyses and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) for feature screening.

Background: The relationship between obesity, sexual behavior, and prostate cancer (PCa) has been widely debated, contributing to a lack of understanding of its potential mechanisms and hindering the development of effective prevention measures.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the causal effect of body mass index (BMI), age at first sexual intercourse (AFS), and bioavailable testosterone levels on PCa while also quantifying the potential roles of mediators.
Method: We conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) study using summary statistics from genome-wide associations of BMI (152,893 European males), AFS (182,791 European males), bioavailable testosterone (184,205 European males), and PCa (79,148 cases, 61,106 controls, European ancestry).

Objectives: To dynamically observe the changes in hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) and Bcl-2/adenovirus E1B19kDa-interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) in children with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and evaluate their clinical value in predicting the severity and prognosis of pediatric TBI.
Methods: A prospective study included 47 children with moderate to severe TBI from January 2021 to July 2023, categorized into moderate (scores 9-12) and severe (scores 3-8) subgroups based on the Glasgow Coma Scale. A control group consisted of 30 children diagnosed and treated for inguinal hernia during the same period, with no underlying diseases.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted among 78 children with sepsis who attended Xuzhou Children's Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from June 2022 to June 2023. According to the presence or absence of SIC, they were divided into two groups: SIC (=36) and non-SIC (=42) .

Objectives: To study the effect of early use of sodium valproate on neuroinflammation after traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Methods: A total of 45 children who visited in Xuzhou Children's Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from August 2021 to August 2022 were enrolled in this prospective study, among whom 15 healthy children served as the healthy control group, and 30 children with TBI were divided into a sodium valproate treatment group and a conventional treatment group using a random number table (=15 each). The children in the sodium valproate treatment group were given sodium valproate in addition to conventional treatment, and those in the conventional group were given an equal volume of 5% glucose solution in addition to conventional treatment.

The present study aimed to investigate the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) and inflammatory factors in patients with immunoglobulin-sensitive and IVIG-insensitive incomplete Kawasaki disease (KD). One hundred and eighty-five patients with incomplete KD were included as the study group (KD group), and 182 patients with respiratory infection as the control group. Expression of Toll-like receptor (TLR)4 and its downstream substances, myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), NF-κB p65, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and GR in human alveolar epithelial cells type Ⅱ (AEC Ⅱ) infected with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) were investigated, and the antiviral immune mechanism mediated by TLR4 was explored. Human AEC Ⅱ were divided into TLR4 group, normal group and TLR4 group, and also into control group, RSV group and RSV+MP (methylprednisolone) group. MTT assay was used to measure the survival of cells after TLR4 knockout and overexpression, and the survival of normal cells after treatment with MP.

Objective: In this prospective cohort study, the efficacy and action mechanism of an intestinal probiotic formulation, Golden Bifid, in severe hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) were determined in 63 consecutively admitted patients successfully treated in the Pediatrics Emergency Department of our hospital.
Patients And Methods: All patients had a persistent fever; 43 patients had rashes on hands, feet, crissum, and hips; and 45 patients had neurological signs and symptoms. Patients were treated with standard supportive therapy along with ventilator-assisted respiration combined with bedside hemofiltration for removal of circulatory toxins and to achieve acid-base equilibrium and electrolyte stability.
