Complications following volar locking plating (VLP) of distal radius fracture (DRF) are frequent. Increasing evidence has shown an inverse relationship between increased surgeon experience and fewer complications in a variety of surgeries, and this study aimed to verify whether this relationship existed when specified in the DRF surgically treated with VLP. Patients with an unstable DRF surgically treated by VLP in our institution between January 2016 and December 2021 were included.

Objective: To assess the incidence and risk factors of tuberculosis-associated obstructive pulmonary disease (TOPD) in individuals with treatment-naive pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and develop a predictive model to enhance its management.

Methods: The incidence of TOPD among patients with treatment-naive PTB in Xinjiang, China, was followed up for one year. Patient characteristics, such as demographics, medical histories, laboratory test results, lung radiological evidence, and pulmonary function, were collected upon hospital admission and throughout follow-up visits.

Effective internal fixation with pedicle screw is a key factor in the success of lumbar fusion with internal fixation. Whether navigation robots can improve the efficacy and safety of screw placement is controversial. Thirty-eight patients who underwent oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion internal fixation from March 2022 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, 16 cases in the navigational robot group and 22 cases in the fluoroscopy group.

Perivascular fat tissue and vascular aging: A sword and a shield.

Pharmacol Res

May 2024

School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing 100029, China; School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xinjiang Medical University, Xinjiang 830011, China. Electronic address:

The understanding of the function of perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) in vascular aging has significantly changed due to the increasing amount of information regarding its biology. Adipose tissue surrounding blood vessels is increasingly recognized as a key regulator of vascular disorders. It has significant endocrine and paracrine effects on the vasculature and is mediated by the production of a variety of bioactive chemicals.

To investigate the causal relationship between metformin use and osteoporosis and different subtypes of osteoporosis using a 2-sample Mendelian randomization method. Data from genome-wide association studies were analyzed, with the exposure factor being metformin and the outcome variables being osteoporosis and different subtypes. Mendelian randomization was performed using Inverse Variance Weighted (IVW), MR-Egger, and weight median (WM) methods, and heterogeneity tests, horizontal multivariate analyses, and sensitivity analyses were performed.

Alfosbuvir plus Daclatasvir for Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection in China.

Infect Dis Ther

November 2023

Center of Infectious Diseases and Pathogen Biology, Department of Hepatology, Key Laboratory of Organ Regeneration and Transplantation of the Ministry of Education, State Key Laboratory of Zoonotic Disease, The First Hospital of Jilin University, Jilin, 130012, China.

Introduction: A pan-genotypic and effective treatment regimen for patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection remains an unmet medical need in China. Alfosbuvir is a novel potent HCV NS5B polymerase inhibitor in development for the treatment of chronic HCV infection. We conducted a phase 3 study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alfosbuvir in combination with daclatasvir in Chinese patients with HCV infection.

Purpose: The optimal method for achieving proper graft tension during patellofemoral ligament reconstruction is a topic of debate. In the past, a digital tensiometer was used to simulate the knee structure, and a tension of approximately 2N was identified as suitable for restoring the patellofemoral track. However, it is unclear whether this tension level is sufficient during the actual surgery.

Cervical spondylosis (CS)-related neck pain is difficult to treat because of its degenerative nature. The aim of this 9-center, single-blinded, randomized controlled trial was to evaluate the efficacy of optimized acupuncture for CS-related neck pain. Participants who met the inclusion criteria were randomized to optimized, shallow, and sham acupuncture groups (1:1:1).

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the result of interaction between genetic and environmental factors. In this study, we aimed to explore whether MIR2113 and MIR129-LEP polymorphisms confer susceptibility to COPD.

Methods: We selected five polymorphisms of two genes (MIR2113: rs2505059 and rs9320913; MIR129-LEP: rs7778167, rs791595 and rs4731420) based on previous studies and genotyped 629 samples, which included 315 COPD patients and 314 controls with Agena MassARRAY platform.

Multimodality brain image registration technology is the key technology to determine the accuracy and speed of brain diagnosis and treatment. In order to achieve high-precision image registration, a fast subpixel registration algorithm based on single-step DFT combined with phase correlation constraint in multimodality brain image was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the coarse positioning at the pixel level was achieved by using the downsampling cross-correlation model, which reduced the Fourier transform dimension of the cross-correlation matrix and the multiplication of the discrete Fourier transform matrix, so as to speed up the coarse registration process.

Background: The incidence of tuberculosis (TB) remains high among Chinese Uygurs (a long-dwelling ethnic minority in Xinjiang) in China and the variants in IL-23R likely contribute to individual's diversity in host response during infection.

Methods: A hospital based one to one matched case-control study was performed to assess the role of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and copy number variation (CNV) of IL-23R in susceptibility and clinical features of pulmonary TB in Chinese Uygurs. Thirteen SNPs in IL-23R were genotyped by multiplex SNaPshot and a CNV was analyzed using Taqman real-time PCR in 250 pairs of pulmonary TB patients and controls.
