A simple and rapid method based on Raman microsphere immunochromatography was developed in this study for the simultaneous detection of influenza A and B viruses and SARS-CoV-2 on a single test T-line. Three types of Raman microspheres with different Raman characteristics were used as the signal sources and were labelled with monoclonal antibodies against FluA, FluB and SARS-CoV-2, respectively. A mixture of antibodies containing anti-FluA monoclonal antibody, anti-FluB monoclonal antibody and anti-SARS-CoV-2 was sprayed on the detection line (T), and goat polyclonal antibody to chicken (IgY) encapsulated on the quality control line (C), for qualitative detection of these three viruses by the double antibody sandwich method.

This study aims to investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Panax notoginseng saponins(PNS) on diabetic kidney disease(DKD) based on network pharmacology, molecular docking, animal experiments. Network pharmacology was employed to screen the potential targets, and STRING was employed to build the protein-protein interaction network. Gene Ontology(GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) enrichment analyses were carried out for the core targets screened out, and a ″components-targets-pathways″ visualization network was constructed to predict the potential mechanism of PNS in treating DKD.

The objective of our study was to develop predictive models using Visually Accessible Rembrandt Images (VASARI) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features combined with machine learning techniques to predict the World Health Organization (WHO) grade, isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation status, and 1p19q co-deletion status of high-grade gliomas. To achieve this, we retrospectively included 485 patients with high-grade glioma from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, of which 312 patients were randomly divided into a training set (n=218) and a test set (n=94) in a 7:3 ratio. Twenty-five VASARI MRI features were selected from an initial set of 30, and three machine learning models - Multilayer Perceptron (MP), Bernoulli Naive Bayes (BNB), and Logistic Regression (LR) - were trained using the training set.

With its annually increasing prevalence, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become a serious threat to people's life and health. After a preliminary research, we found that Lactucopicrin has pharmacological effects, such as lowering blood lipids and protecting the liver. Further research showed its significant activation for fatty acid β-oxidase hydroxyacyl-coenzyme A (CoA) dehydrogenase trifunctional multienzyme complex subunit alpha (HADHA), so we hypothesized that Lactucopicrin could ameliorate lipid accumulation in hepatocytes by promoting fatty acid β-oxidation.

Article Synopsis
  • This study collected data from over 35,000 COVID-19 patients in China to analyze the rates of olfactory (smell) and gustatory (taste) dysfunctions following infection.!
  • Findings revealed a 67.75% incidence rate of these dysfunctions, with factors like gender, smoking, vaccination doses, and oral health affecting both the likelihood of experiencing and recovering from these symptoms.!
  • On average, smell and taste scores declined significantly after infection but showed some recovery over time, with 59.16% of patients reporting improvement, though some experienced prolonged symptoms lasting over 28 days.!

Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi

May 2024

Key Laboratory of Xinjiang Phytomedicine Resource and Utilization of Ministry of Education/School of Pharmacy, Shihezi University Shihezi 832002, China.

This study aims to investigate the mitigating effect and mechanism of Cichorium glandulosum n-butanol extraction site(CGE) on the disease in carbon tetrachloride(CCl_4)-induced chronic liver injury model in rats. A chronic liver injury model was constructed by subcutaneous injection of CCl_4 olive oil solution, and after four weeks of CGE treatment, serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT), alkaline phosphatase(AKP), hydroxyproline(HYP), interleukin-4(IL-4), interleukin-6(IL-6), malondialdehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase(SOD), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were detected. Liver tissue was processed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining and Masson staining to observe the structure of the rat liver.
