Objective: This study aims at investigating the difference in facial skin barrier function between rosacea patients and the healthy population of different ages in the Qinghai region and its correlation with age, providing a basis for clinical nursing and treatment.
Methods: The data of 216 rosacea patients were collected, and 211 healthy testers were selected as the control group. The skin barrier characteristics of rosacea patients of different ages were evaluated by comparing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), stratum corneum hydration (SCH), sebum content (SC), and pH values between the two groups.

LPS-induced injury in lung epithelial cells is a crucial part of the process of acute lung injury (ALI). The aim of this study is to explore whether Xanthorrhizol, a medicine that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, could mitigate the injury of lung epithelial cells caused by LPS. Mouse lung epithelial cell line (MLE-12 cells) were treated with LPS in the absence and presence of Xanthorrhizol.

A retrospective assessment of the visual acuity (UCVA) variations in bare eyes of the refractive error cases treated with SMILE, LASIK and WF-LASIK. A retrospective selection of 126 patients with refractive error treated by refractive surgery admitted to our hospital between January 2019 and December 2021 were divided into three separate sets of patients according to their surgical methods: the SMILE cohort, the LASIK cohort, and the WF-LASIK cohort, and the three sets of patients were analyzed for bare eye visual acuity, refraction, higher-order aberration, BUT, SIt index, and complications, and the recovery effects of patients with the three surgical procedures. All three types of refractive surgery, SMILE, LASIK and WF-LASIK, can yield good surgical results in the reduction of refractive error, and patients with SMILE have better postoperative tear film stability, while patients with WF-LASIK have the best postoperative visual quality.

Peritoneal fibrosis (PF) is the main reason leading to declining efficiency and ultrafiltration failure of peritoneum, which restricts the application of peritoneal dialysis (PD). We aimed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of miR-122-5p on the PF. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were infused with glucose-based standard PD fluid to establish PF model.

Pulse signals are widely used to evaluate the status of the human cardiovascular, respiratory, and circulatory systems. In the process of being collected, the signals are usually interfered by some factors, such as the spike noise and the poor-sensor-contact noise, which have severely affected the accuracy of the subsequent detection models. In recent years, some methods have been applied to processing the above noisy signals, such as dynamic time warping, empirical mode decomposition, autocorrelation, and cross-correlation.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of oxygen and cholinesterase inhibitor (donepezil) therapy on dementia in patients with age-exacerbated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in China's northwestern high-altitude area. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 145 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD admitted to the Gerontology Department of the First People's Hospital of Xining City were initially retrospectively screened. From among these 145 patients, we selected 33 cases with dementia and 33 patients without dementia through use of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS-Cog), and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Scale evaluated before, 7 days after, and at the end of the treatment after 3 months.
