Cell Biol Toxicol

December 2022

Department of Neurology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, No. 1 JianShe Road, Zhengzhou, 450052, Henan Province, People's Republic of China.

Background: Mitophagy protects against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (CI/R)-induced neuronal apoptosis via mitochondrial clearance. Although taurine-upregulated gene 1 (lncRNA TUG1) has been proposed to be involved in the neuronal apoptosis evoked by CI/R, its specific role in mitophagy during the progression of CI/R injury remains unknown.

Methods: The CI/R rat model was established using middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/R).

Although the treatment of cancer has made great strides in clinical practice, its high morbidity and fatality rates remain a major threat to human health. Multidrug resistance (MDR) often appears in the process of tumor treatment, leading to tumor refractory and aggravating the risk of tumor recurrence. Therefore, antitumor MDR plays a key role in tumor chemotherapy.

Background: Magnesium (Mg) alloy have biodegradation and mechanical properties that are similar to those of human bone, making it a promising candidate material for inclusion in implantable medical devices.

Objective: The osteointegration effect of Mg alloy scaffolds with different corrosion rates were studied and evaluated in large bone defect models.

Method: Mg-Sr and Mg-Ca alloy scaffolds with a 20-μm Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coating were used to repair critical bone defects for subsequent assessment of each alloy's degradation and osteointegration by X-ray, Micro-CT, fluorescence and histological examination.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of arthroscopic intertubercular groove and open subpectoral tenodesis in treatment of long head of biceps tendon (LHBT) tendinopathy.

Methods: A clinical data of 80 patients with LHBT tendinopathy who were admitted between June 2013 and May 2017 and met the selection criteria was retrospectively analyzed. After cutting LHBT under arthroscopy, the arthroscopic intertubercular groove tenodesis was performed in 40 cases (group A) and open subpectoral tenodesis was performed in 40 cases (group B).

Mucin 3A (MUC3A) is highly expressed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but its functions and effects on clinical outcomes are not well understood. Tissue microarray of 92 NSCLC samples indicated that high levels of MUC3A were associated with poor prognosis, advanced staging, and low differentiation. MUC3A knockdown significantly suppressed NSCLC cell proliferation and induced G1/S accumulation via downregulating cell cycle checkpoints.

ΜicroRNA-122 protects against ischemic stroke by targeting Maf1.

Exp Ther Med

June 2021

Medical College, Institute of Microanalysis, Dalian University, Dalian, Liaoning 116622, P.R. China.

The protection of brain tissue against damage and the reduction of infarct size is crucial for improving patient prognosis following ischemic stroke. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the regulatory effect of microRNA (miR)-122 and its target gene repressor of RNA polymerase III transcription MAF1 homolog (Maf1) on the infarct area in ischemic stroke. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was performed to determine miR-122 expression levels in an ischemic stroke [middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)] mouse model.

Objective: Patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) exhibit neurocognitive impairments; however, the neuroimaging mechanism of neurocognitive impairments remains unclear. The aim of this study was to understand the neuroimaging mechanism in adult patients with moderate-to-severe OSAHS, from the perspective of the connectome.

Patients And Methods: Thirty-one untreated patients with moderate-to-severe OSAHS (mean age: 41.

To explore clinical outcome of isolated arthroscopic biceps tenodesis by double row for pulley lesions. Forty-nine patients with pulley lesions were treated from July 2017 to June 2018 in the Department of Sport Medicine, the Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University by isolated arthroscopic biceps tenodesis by double row. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to the intraoperative damage of the pulley system.

Side-branch occlusion is a serious complication of provisional one-stent strategies used to treat coronary bifurcation lesions. The aim of the study was to compare the short- and long-term clinical outcomes between the balloon-stent kissing technique (BSKT) and jailed wire technique (JWT) in patients with non-left coronary bifurcation lesions. This prospective, double-blinded, randomized controlled study enrolled 89 consecutive patients (aged 18-85 years) with 90 true bifurcation lesions (hemadostenosis ≥70%; bifurcation angle <90°; Medina classification 1.

Increased expression levels of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) are associated with metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), although the mechanisms involved remain unknown. The present study aimed to investigate these mechanisms. The results demonstrated that the expression levels of TGF-β1 mRNA were higher and those of lncRNA-NEF were lower in tumor tissues compared with in healthy tissues.

Department of Radiation and Medical Oncology, Hubei Key Laboratory of Tumor Biological Behaviors, Hubei Cancer Clinical Study Center, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Wuhan, China; Center for Medical Science Research, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. Electronic address:

FePt-Cys nanoparticles (FePt-Cys NPs) have been well used in many fields, despite their poor solubility and stability. We synthetized a cysteine surface modified FePt NPs, which exhibited good solubility, stability and biocompatibility. We explored the insight mechanisms of the antitumor effects of this new nanoparticle system in lung cancer cells.

Expression and clinical significance of Sirt1 in colorectal cancer.

Oncol Lett

February 2016

Liaoning Provincial University Key Laboratory of Biophysics, College of Medicine, Dalian University, Dalian, Liaoning 116622, P.R. China.

The objective of the present study was to examine the expression of Silent information regulator 1 (Sirt1) in colorectal cancer and peritumoral normal mucosa tissue, and therefore analyze the role and molecular mechanism of Sirt1 in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer tissue specimens were employed as the experimental group, and adjacent normal mucosa tissues >5 cm from tumor lesions were used as the control group. The expression of Sirt1 was detected by the immunohistochemical streptavidin peroxidase detection method in paraffin-embedded sections, whilst Sirt1 protein expression was examined by western blot analysis in the fresh tissues.

Objective: To investigate the effects of 3 methods (suture removal, suture removal with epineurium neurolysis, and ligated femoral nerve resection with end-end suture) in repairing femoral nerve injury after ligation in different periods so as to provide a reference for clinical use of repairing iatrogenic ligation injury of the peripheral nerve.

Methods: A total of 120 adult female Sprague Dawley rats, weighing (200 +/- 20) g, were used to prepare the animal models of left femoral nerve ligation, and were divided into groups A (n=40), B (n=40), and C (n=40) according different repairing methods. At immediate, 1, 3, and 5 months (10 rats each time point) after ligation, suture removal was performed in group A, suture removal with epineurium neurolysis in group B, and ligated femoral nerve resection with end-end suture in group C.
