Background And Aims: Many studies of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (g-GISTs) following endoscopic resection (ER) have typically focused on tumor size, with most tumors at low risk of aggressiveness after risk stratification. There have been few systematic studies on the oncologic outcomes of intermediate- or high-risk g-GISTs after ER.
Methods: From January 2014 to January 2020, we retrospectively collected patients considered at intermediate- or high-risk of g-GISTs according to the modified NIH consensus classification system.

Chronic inflammatory and immune responses play key roles in the development and progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). PANoptosis, as a unique inflammatory cell death modality, is involved in the pathogenesis of many inflammatory diseases. We aim to identify critical PANoptosis-related biomarkers and explore their potential effects on respiratory tract diseases and immune infiltration landscapes in COPD.

Objectives: Sepsis is a life-threatening infectious disease in which an immune inflammatory response is triggered. The potential effect of ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in inflammation of sepsis remained unclear. We focused on identifying and validating core FRGs and their association with immune infiltration in blood from currently all patients with sepsis.

Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are activated and expanded after exposure to fetal-specific (paternal) antigens. A proportion of Tregs differentiate into memory Tregs (mTregs), exhibiting immune memory function and exerting more potent immunosuppression than naive Tregs (nTregs). However, it is unclear how mTregs are regulated during normal and pathological pregnancies (e.

Importance: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is currently the most common chronic liver disease worldwide. It is important to develop noninvasive tests to assess the disease severity and prognosis.
Objective: To study the prognostic implications of baseline levels and dynamic changes of the vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE)-based scores developed for the diagnosis of advanced fibrosis (Agile 3+) and cirrhosis (Agile 4) in patients with MASLD.

Background Noninvasive evaluation of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) with multiparametric US is essential, but multicenter studies are lacking. Purpose To evaluate the ability of multiparametric US with attenuation imaging (ATI) and two-dimensional (2D) shear-wave elastography (SWE) for predicting metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in participants with MAFLD, regardless of hepatitis B virus infection status. Materials and Methods This prospective cross-sectional multicenter study of consecutive adults with MAFLD who underwent multiparametric US with ATI and 2D SWE, as well as liver biopsy, from September 2020 to June 2022 was conducted in 12 tertiary hospitals in China.

Aims: Long non-coding RNA (LncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 18 (SNHG18) has been widely implicated in cancers. However, little is known about its functional involvement in vascular diseases. Herein, we attempted to explore a role for SNHG18 in modulating vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) contractile phenotype and injury-induced neointima formation.

Purpose: The objective of this study was to create and validate a novel prediction model that incorporated both multi-modal radiomics features and multi-clinical features, with the aim of accurately identifying acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients who faced a higher risk of poor outcomes.
Methods: A cohort of 461 patients diagnosed with AIS from four centers was divided into a training cohort and a validation cohort. Radiomics features were extracted and selected from diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) images to create a radiomic signature.

As an extension of the clinical examination and as a diagnostic and problem-solving tool, ultrasound has become an established technique for clinicians. A prerequisite for high-quality clinical ultrasound practice is adequate student ultrasound training. In light of the considerable heterogeneity of ultrasound curricula in medical studies worldwide, this review presents basic principles of modern medical student ultrasound education and advocates for the establishment of an ultrasound core curriculum embedded both horizontally and vertically in medical studies.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a type of primary liver cancer, which has shown an increasing trend in incidence and mortality in recent years, with a poor prognosis. The clinical diagnosis and treatment of ICC currently face the challenges of low detection rate, high mortality rate, poor treatment outcome, and urgently need more in-depth research to promote the improvement of clinical diagnosis and treatment level. In recent years, ICC diagnosis and treatment related research has made new progress in many aspects, and the knowledge about these new clinical diagnosis and treatment advances should be updated in a timely manner.

Aims: To assess the excess risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) associated with different criteria for metabolic health, and the interplay of body size, insulin sensitivity and metabolic health with CVD risk.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a prospective study involving 115 638 participants from the China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort (4C) Study. Metabolic health was defined using three different definitions: (1) insulin sensitivity defined by homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance index; (2) absence of metabolic syndrome according to the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria; and (3) simultaneous absence of metabolic abnormalities (diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia).

We will discuss a recent case of unexplained neonatal cyanosis, evaluate its origin, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment, and share with you some of our clinical insights. We report a transient cyanosis in a newborn due to a mutation in the globulin gene (HBG2), as well as diagnosis and treatment. Clinically, the infant was in good overall health, and despite low oxygen saturation, the arterial oxygen partial pressure was always normal.

Elastography is a promising diagnostic tool that measures the hardness of tissues, and it has been used in clinics for detecting lesion progress, such as benign and malignant tumors. However, due to the high cost of examination and limited availability of elastic ultrasound devices, elastography is not widely used in primary medical facilities in rural areas. To address this issue, a deep learning approach called the multiscale elastic image synthesis network (MEIS-Net) was proposed, which utilized the multiscale learning to synthesize elastic images from ultrasound data instead of traditional ultrasound elastography in virtue of elastic deformation.

The pathogenesis of dyschromatosis symmetrica hereditaria (DSH) has not been well defined. In this study, we sought to investigate the influence of the ADAR1 gene on DSH both in vitro and in vivo. Morpholino knockdown of adar1 in zebrafish produced phenotypes characterized by polarity changes, and abnormal migration and distribution of melanocytes.
