Acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are interconnected syndromes that represent a global public health challenge. Here, we identified a specific role of survival of motor neuron (SMN) in ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced kidney injury and progression of CKD. SMN was an essential protein in all cell type and was reported to play important roles in multiple fundamental cellular homeostatic pathways.

Unlabelled: Patients with high-risk neuroblastoma (HR-NB) exhibit suboptimal 5-year survival rates, leading to a widespread international preference for high-intensity chemotherapeutic regimens in these children. We analyzed the incidence and risk factors for complications during induction chemotherapy in children with HR-NB and tried to assist clinicians in predicting such complications and optimizing therapeutic strategy. The clinical data of children with HR-NB admitted to our hospital from January 2007 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate pathological changes in the "Glutamate (Glu)-γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)" loop and apply widely targeted metabolomic analysis technology to comprehensively explore metabolite abnormalities/ in the thalamus of rats with tic disorders (TD).
Methods: Wistar rats were randomized into control, TD, and tiapride (Tia) groups. Iminodipropionitrile (IDPN) was used to induce TD in rats.

To analyze the efficacy of different targets low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for the treatment of tremor Parkinson's disease(PD). A total of 82 patients with primary PD who were admitted to the Department of Neurology, Xin Hua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 were prospectively collected. According to the clinical characteristics of major movement disorders, 82 patients with tremor type (TD) were selected to enroll.

Aspartyl-tRNA synthetase 2 (Dars2) is involved in the regulation of mitochondrial protein synthesis and tissue-specific mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPR). The role of Dars2 in the self-renewal and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) is unknown. Here, we show that knockout (KO) of Dars2 significantly impairs the maintenance of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) without involving its tRNA synthetase activity.

This study investigated the content of inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress levels in the aqueous humor (AH) of patients with high myopia (HM) and explored the relationship between these factors and the axial length (AL) of the eye, to explore the roles of mild intraocular inflammation and oxidative stress imbalance in the occurrence and development of myopia. AH samples from 40 patients (70 eyes) were collected during implantable collamer lens (ICL-V4c) surgery. The subjects were divided into three groups according to AL: group A (AL ≤ 26 mm), group B (26 < AL ≤ 28 mm), and group C (AL ≥ 28 mm).

PYR-41 is an irreversible and cell permeable inhibitor of ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1, and has been reported to inhibit the degradation of IκB protein. Previous studies have shown that PYR-41 has effects on anti-inflammatory, but whether it has therapeutic effects on allergic dermatitis is unclear. The aim of this research was to explore the therapeutic effects of PYR-41 on atopic dermatitis.

Background: Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from M2 microglia (M2-microglia-derived small extracellular vesicles [M2-sEVs]) contribute to central nervous system repair, although the underlying mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we aimed to identify the mechanism through which microRNA-124 (miR-124) carried in sEVs promotes neural stem cell (NSC) proliferation and neuronal differentiation in the ischemic mouse brain.
Methods: M2-sEVs with or without miR-124 knockdown were injected intravenously for 7 consecutive days after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion surgery.

Introduction: We usually use 131I-whole body scan (131I-WBS) and serum thyroglobulin (Tg) values to determine whether differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients need to receive 131I treatment, but not all ¹³¹I-avid (functioning) patients have a good response to ¹³¹I therapy. Our study aims to assess the data of [¹⁸F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography ([¹⁸F] FDG PET/CT) to research the status of 131I-avid pulmonary metastases (PMs) and the prognosis of the patients.
Material And Methods: The 131I-avid PMs of DTC patients who underwent [18F]FDG PET/CT scans were included.

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane protein complex (EMC) is required for the co-translational insertion of newly synthesized multi-transmembrane proteins. Compromised EMC function in different cell types has been implicated in multiple diseases. Using inducible genetic mouse models, we revealed defects in retinal vascularization upon endothelial cell (EC) specific deletion of , the largest subunit of EMC.

Background: Studies reported that kelch-like protein 3 (KLHL3)-Cullin3(CUL3) E3 ligase ubiquitinated with-no-lysine kinase 4 (WNK4). Impaired WNK4 ubiquitination plays a key role in Familial hyperkalemic hypertension (FHHt, also called pseudohypoaldosteronism type II) which results from overaction of thiazide-sensitive sodium chloride cotransport (NCC). In addition, researchers have also found that dietary potassium deficiency activates NCC along the renal distal convoluted tubule (DCT).

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a major microvascular complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Monitoring the early diagnostic period and disease progression plays a crucial role in treating DKD. In this study, to comprehensively elucidate the molecular characteristics of urinary proteins and urinary exosome proteins in type 2 DKD, we performed large-scale urinary proteomics (n=144) and urinary exosome proteomics (n=44) analyses on T2DM patients with albuminuria in varying degrees.

Background: With the rising global prevalence of fatty liver disease related to metabolic dysfunction, the association of this common liver condition with chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become increasingly evident. In 2020, the more inclusive term metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) was proposed to replace the term non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The observed association between MAFLD and CKD and our understanding that CKD can be a consequence of underlying metabolic dysfunction support the notion that individuals with MAFLD are at higher risk of having and developing CKD compared with those without MAFLD.

Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is a platform for urine and blood sample analysis. However, the high variability in the urine sample reduced the confidence of metabolite identification. Therefore, pre and post-calibration operations are inevitable to ensure an accurate urine biomarker analysis.

Functional disorder of the placenta is the principal cause of fetal growth restriction (FGR), usually cured with suitable clinical treatment and good nursing. However, some FGR mothers still give birth to small for gestational age (SGA) babies after treatment. The ineffectiveness of treatment in such a group of patients confused physicians of obstetrics and gynecology.

Tissue engineering based on bioprinting technology has broad prospects in the treatment of critical-sized bone defect. Nevertheless, it is challenging to construct composite tissues or organs with structural integrity. Periosteum and stem cells are important in bone regeneration, and it has been shown that co-culture engineering system could successfully repair bone defects.
