To study the real-world outcome of China FDA-approved Sofosbuvir (SOF)/Velpatasvir (VEL) in Northwest China. In this multicenter, prospective, real-world cohort study, we recruited patients from 10 sites from Northwest China, who were chronically infected with HCV GTs 1-6 from 06/2018 to 09/2019. Patients received SOF (400mg)/VEL (100mg) for 12 weeks, and with ribavirin 900-1200 mg for GT3 cirrhosis and for any genotype decompensated cirrhosis.

To systematically evaluate the effects of different drugs for the treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. All literature from PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials published over the past 12 years (from January 1, 2008 to June 1, 2020) was searched, and two reviewers independently assessed study eligibility, continuous data extraction, independent assessment of bias risk, and graded strength of evidence. The pain score was used as the main result, and 30 and 50% pain reduction and adverse events were used as secondary results.

Background: Gastrointestinal bleeding is the most frequent major complication of antiplatelet therapy. In patients at low bleeding risk, however, clinically overt gastrointestinal bleeding is relatively uncommon.

Objectives: The authors sought to assess the effects of different antiplatelet regimens on gastrointestinal mucosal injury by means of a novel magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy system in patients at low bleeding risk.

Early studies have indicated that the risk of migraine is contributed by both genetic and environmental factors. We aimed to evaluate the association between the risk of migraine and genetic polymorphisms in the ANKDD1B gene in a large sample of Chinese Han populations. A total of 882 patients with MO and 1,784 age-matched controls were recruited.

Introduction: In the randomized, open-label, parallel-arm, active-controlled phase III AWARD-CHN2 trial, once-weekly dulaglutide plus concomitant oral antihyperglycemic medications (OAMs) improved HbA1c over 26 weeks compared with once-daily insulin glargine in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This post-hoc subgroup analysis of AWARD-CHN2 investigated the pancreatic safety of dulaglutide in Chinese patients with T2DM, stratified by potential influencing factors.

Methods: Changes in pancreatic enzyme (pancreatic amylase, total amylase, and lipase) levels over 26 weeks were assessed and stratified by patient age (< 60, ≥ 60 years), sex (female, male), duration of diabetes (< 10, ≥ 10 years), baseline weight (< 70, ≥ 70 kg), BMI (< 25, ≥ 25 kg/m), HbA1c (< 8.

Background And Aim: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is one of the most devastating complications after total joint arthroplasty (TJA). However, the antibiotic resistance of infecting pathogens can significantly vary in different parts of the country. In the current study, we analyzed the demographic and microbiological profiles of knee and hip PJI over three years and compared the microbiological differences between them.

Objective: To systematically evaluate the effects of pioglitazone in the treatment of patients with prediabetes or T2DM combined with NAFLD.

Methods: The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Embase, and ClinicalTrials databases were searched until August 2020 for publications written in English. Two reviewers independently assessed study eligibility, continuous data extraction, independent assessment of bias risk, and graded the strength of evidence.

Objective: To comprehensively evaluate and compare the therapeutic effects of various hypoglycemic agents in NAFLD patients with or without diabetes.

Methods: All literature from the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed, and Clinical Trials was searched, and the language was limited to English. Two reviewers independently assessed study eligibility, continuous data extraction, and independent assessment of bias risk.

A recent genome-wide meta study suggested that rs67338227 in the FHL5 gene and rs10456100 in the KCNK5 gene are associated with migraine from 27 population-based cohorts excluding Chinese population. Given that migraine without aura (MO) is the most common subtype of migraine, our aim was to systematically investigate the relationship of common variants in FHL5 and KCNK5 genes with the susceptibility to MO and provide clues as to the nature of the mechanisms involved in the etiology of migraine. A total of 3306 subjects including 1042 patients with MO and 2264 controls were recruited for the discovery stage, and 2530 individuals including 842 patients with MO and 1688 controls for the replication stage.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the protective role of paeoniflorin against endothelial damage related to preeclampsia, using human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).
  • Treatment with sFlt-1 and sEng significantly impaired cell viability, migration, and tube formation while increasing apoptosis and reducing VEGFA expression in HUVECs.
  • Paeoniflorin pretreatment helped counteract these negative effects, suggesting it can mitigate preeclampsia-induced endothelial damage by enhancing VEGFA levels.

Foundation and Clinical Evaluation of a New Method for Detecting SARS-CoV-2 Antigen by Fluorescent Microsphere Immunochromatography.

Front Cell Infect Microbiol

December 2020

Translational Medicine Research Center, Key Laboratory of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of Biomedical Engineering and Translational Medicine, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, China.

Purpose: To develop a rapid detection reagent for SARS-CoV-2 antigen for the auxiliary diagnosis of new coronary pneumonia (COVID-19), and perform the methodological evaluation and clinical evaluation of the reagent.

Method: SARS-CoV-2 N-protein test strip was created by combining fluorescent microsphere labeling technology and immunochromatographic technology, based on the principle of double antibody sandwich. Then we evaluated the analytical capability and clinical application of the strips.

To evaluate the effect of imatinib on growth impairment in children with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML-CP) in the chronic phase. From July 2018 to July 2019, questionnaires were distributed to CML children aged <18 years at the time of diagnosis who were receiving imatinib for at least 3 months or to their parents in China. The height-for-age standard deviation score (HtSDS) and the difference of standard deviation integral (△HtSDS) were used to explore the change in height with imatinib therapy.

COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection and was initially discovered in Wuhan. This outbreak quickly spread all over China and then to more than 20 other countries. SARS-CoV-2 fluorescent microsphere immunochromatographic test strips were prepared by the combination of time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay with a lateral flow assay.

To investigate the safety and efficacy of transthoracic echocardiography-guided percutaneous intramyocardial septal radiofrequency ablation (PIMSRA) in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). Nine HOCM patients with interventricular septal thickness ≥15 mm and ≤25 mm who were treated with PIMSRA between October 2016 to March 2017 in the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center of Xijing Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University were enrolled, and the clinical data were retrospectively analyzed.Interventricular septum thickness, left ventricular outflow tract diameter and maximum gradient were measured by transthoracic echocardiography immediately after procedure, at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after operation.
