Background: Increasing evidence suggests that insomnia plays an important role in the development of depression, supporting insomnia intervention as a promising approach to prevent depression in youth. This randomized controlled trial evaluated the effectiveness of app-based cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) in preventing future onset of major depressive disorder (MDD) in youth.
Methods And Findings: This was a randomized, assessor-blind, parallel group-controlled trial in Chinese youth (aged 15-25 years) with insomnia disorder and subclinical depressive symptoms.

Over 30 % of patients with schizophrenia experience treatment resistance and severe side effects. The limited efficacy of antipsychotic therapies poses a challenge, partly due to the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and the non-selective targeting of these drugs. Herein, we report on arecoline (ARE), a water soluble natural small molecule, which was successfully constructed a phospholipid complex by noncovalent interactions.

Depression, a common and high-morbidity mental illness, can cause severe physical and psychiatric disorder. Recently, elevated levels of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) have been recognized as a potential pathogenesis of depression. Unfortunately, available therapies provide limited outcomes in treating RONS-related depression symptoms.

Objective: Numerous studies have shown that the mental health of middle school students is closely related to problematic mobile phone use. The purpose of this study is to investigate the network structure between the dimensions of the Middle School Students Mental Health Scale and the items of the Self-Rating Questionnaire for Adolescent Problematic Mobile Phone Use by using the network analysis, to clarify the core symptoms and bridge symptoms of the network structure, and to provide ideas and methods for intervening in the mental health and problematic mobile phone use of middle school students.
Methods: A stratified cluster sampling method was used to select 1637 students from four general middle schools in Xiamen in June 2020 for the survey, and the Middle School Students Mental Health Scale (MSSMHS-60) and the Self-Rating Questionnaire for Adolescent Problematic Mobile Phone Use (SQAPMPU) were used.

Objective: Utilizing two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR), this study seeks to determine the causal relationship between IgA nephropathy and five prevalent neuropsychiatric disorders. By exploring the genetic associations between IgA nephropathy and neuropsychiatric disorders, this research aims to contribute to the prevention of neuropsychiatric disorders in patients with IgA nephropathy.
Methods: Public genome-wide association study databases were searched, with IgA nephropathy as the exposure factor, including 15,587 patients with IgA nephropathy and 462,197 healthy controls.

Background: Identifying white matter (WM) microstructural similarities and differences between major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BD) is an important way to understand the potential neuropathological mechanism in emotional disorders. Numerous diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) studies over recent decades have confirmed the presence of WM anomalies in these two affective disorders, but the results were inconsistent. This study aimed to determine the statistical consistency of DTI findings for BD and MDD by using the coordinate-based meta-analysis (CBMA) approach.

Background: Investigation and analysis of the changes in healthcare resources and burden of schizophrenia in the real world before and after switching from oral antipsychotics (OAPs) to paliperidone palmitate once-monthly (PP1M) could provide evidence to clinicians and patients for choosing treatment modality and data support for health policy optimization.
Methods: The first dosage of PP1M was set as mirror point, and patients with mirror point between January 2020 and June 2022 were recruited in the study. The differences in treatment patterns, healthcare resource utilization, and costs within one year before and after the mirror point were compared.

Background: Understanding the development of cognitive impairment and its influencing factors in older adults is crucial for formulating early intervention strategies.
Purpose: To identify the early dimensions of cognitive impairment and provide a comprehensive description of the trajectories of cognitive decline in older adults prior to death.
Methods: Based on the data of 9883 older adults in the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey from 2002 to 2018, a longitudinal item response theory (Longitudinal IRT) model including covariates was applied to estimate the following parameters.

Background: Evening-type and insomnia symptoms are significantly related to each other and independently associated with depressive symptoms, yet few studies have examined the potential interaction between these two conditions. Therefore, we aimed to examine the associations of evening-type and insomnia symptoms with depressive symptoms among Chinese youths, with a specific focus on the joint effects of the two conditions on depressive symptoms.
Methods: Participants aged between 12 and 25 were invited to participate in an online survey from December 15, 2022, to May 26, 2023.

Colorectal Carcinoma (CRC) is one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive tract, with a high mortality rate. DPY30 is one of the core subunits of the histone methyltransferase complex, which was involved in many cancer processes. However, the role of DPY30 in the occurrence and progression of CRC remains unclear.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the correlation between BRAF status and computed tomography (CT) imaging characteristics in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and determine if suspicious CT imaging features could predict BRAF status.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients with pathologically confirmed PTC at the Department of Thyroid Surgery of Zhongshan Hospital, Xiamen University, between July 2020 and June 2022. We compared the clinicopathologic factors and CT findings of nodules with and without the mutation, and the multiple logistical regression test was used to determine independent parameters of the BRAF mutation.

The high mortality rate associated with gastric cancer (GC) has resulted in an urgent need to identify novel therapeutic targets for GC. This study aimed to investigate whether GAIP interacting protein, C terminus 1 (GIPC1) represents a therapeutic target and its regulating mechanism in GC. GIPC1 expression was elevated in GC tissues, liver metastasis tissues, and lymph node metastases.

DPY30 belongs to the core subunit of components of the histone lysine methyltransferase complex, which is implicated in tumorigenesis, cell senescence, and other biological events. However, its contribution to colorectal carcinoma (CRC) progression and metastasis has yet to be elucidated. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the biological function of DPY30 in CRC metastasis both in vitro and in vivo.
