The objective of this work was to use corncob as raw material to prepare green reusable magnetic biochar for removal of dyes in wastewater. For this purpose, an environmentally friendly NiAl layered double oxides modified magnetic corncob biochar (MC/NiAl-LDO) was obtained by pyrolysis of NiAl layered double hydroxides modified magnetic corncob biochar (MC/NiAl-LDH) at 700 °C for 3 h. The surface area of MC/NiAl-LDO is 552.

Layered double hydroxide (LDH) has shown great potential for energy storage due to their high theoretical specific capacitance, relatively low cost and eco-friendliness. LDH, however, always works in alkali aqueous electrolyte for supercapacitors, which brings serious environmental pollution. In this work, a reduced graphite oxide/Fe(CN)- nickel cobalt aluminum LDH (RGO/Fe(CN)-LDH) composite has been prepared via ion-exchange reaction using RGO/LDH as precursor.

A 0D/2D (0-dimensional/2-dimensional) nanostructure was designed by self-assembly of N-C QDs and carboxylated g-CN nanosheets and used as a fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) fluorescent sensor. The N-C QDs/g-CN nanosheets were synthesized via the amino group on the N-C QD surface and the -COOH of the carboxylated g-CN nanosheets. The mechanism of detection of metronidazole (MNZ) by N-C QDs/g-CN nanocomposites is based on FRET between negatively charged N-QDs and positively charged carboxylated g-CN nanoparticles.

Amino-functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS-8NH) were covalently bound to the surface of polydopamine-coated magnetized graphene oxide. It was then reacted with 4-formylphenylboronic acid to prepare a "cubic boronic acid"-bonded magnetic graphene oxide adsorbent. The new adsorbent exhibits better selectivity and much higher adsorption capacity for ortho-phenols over adsorbents where small boronic ligands are directly bound to the surface of the material.

Dissociation processes of lactic acid and its isomer formed by low-energy dissociation electron attachment (DEA) in the gas phase are investigated by using ab initio molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The ab initio MD simulations using an atom-centered density matrix propagation (ADMP) method are carried out to investigate the DEA dissociation process of lactic acid and its isomer. The analysis of the simulated dissociation trajectories of lactic acid and its isomer indicates that the C-C, C-H, and C-O bonds are cleaved within femtoseconds of the simulation time scale in the DEA dissociation process, and the difference in dissociation trajectory depends on the size of the three basis sets.

Electrochemical active small organic molecules are potential electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their sustainable and good redox reversibility. However, the poor electrical conductivity restricts their application in supercapacitors. Herein, a water soluble organic dye of methylene blue (MB) has been supported on graphene (GR) through a facile ultrasonic method to form a methylene blue/graphene (MB/GR) composite.

Brightly fluorescent carbon quantum dots coated with polyethylenimine (PEI-CDs) were prepared using malic acid and PEI as the precursors. The PEI-CDs have a high quantum yield (41%) and green emission (peaking at 502 nm under 430 nm excitation), both of which are not affected by high ionic strength. The PEI-CDs have a positive charge at physiological pH values and can electrostatically bind aptamers with their negative charge.

A voltammetric immunoassay for the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was developed using silver metal-organic frameworks (Ag-MOFs) as a signal probe. The Ag-MOFs contained a substantial amount of Ag(I) whose electrochemical signal was relatively stable. Therefore, the Ag-MOFs were viable signal probes.

Aim: The present study was conducted to analyze the relationship between c-reactive protein (CRP) gene +1444C/T, 3407T/C (rs2808630) polymorphisms and colorectal cancer susceptibility.
Methods: A total of 142 colorectal cancer patients and 127 healthy controls were recruited into this case-control study. The genotypes of CRP gene +1444C/T, rs2808630 polymorphisms were tested by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) and the genotypes distributions of polymorphisms in controls was assessed whether conformed to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE).

Sulfur nanomaterials exceed carbon nanomaterials in terms of the antimicrobial or antifungal properties. To date, there have been no reports on sulfur dots being used as fluorescence sensors. Herein, we report a simple assay based on aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) of sulfur quantum dots (SQDs) to detect cobalt ions (Co).

A new stable six-membered cyclic germylene radical C (LGe:; L = [CHC(PhCN-Dip)], where Dip = 2,6- PrCH) has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Unlike the germanium-centered radical A (LGe:, L = [HC( BuCN-Dip)]), C is a π-type radical with spin density mainly distributed on the NCN backbone, similar to that in the germylene radical B (LGe:; L = [PhC(PhCN-Dip)]). The electronic effects in six-membered N-heterocyclic germanium radicals were systematically investigated using density functional theory calculations.

Construction of heterojunctions with band-suitable different semiconductors has been demonstrated to be an efficient approach to enhance the separation of photoinduced electrons and holes. In this paper, highly efficient heterojuction photocatalysts consisted of porous-CN (p-CN) and flowerlike-BiOBr (f-BiOBr) were successfully synthesized via a deposition-hydrothermal method. The SEM and HRTEM images indicated that BiOBr were successfully deposited on the surface of p-CN and the layered p-CN/f-BiOBr heterojunctions were formed between p-CN and f-BiOBr.

Preparation of graphene (GR) based electrode materials with excellent capacitive properties is of great importance to supercapacitors. Herein, we report a facile approach to prepare partially reduced graphite oxide (PRG) nanosheets by reducing graphite oxide (GO) using commercial CuO powder as a reduction agent, moreover, we demonstrate that the PRG nanosheets can act as building blocks for assembling hydrogels (PRGH) and flexible film (PRGF). The obtained PRGH and PRGF can be directly used as binder-free electrodes for supercapacitors and give high specific capacitance (292 and 273 F g at a current density of 0.
