The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of post-traumatic growth (PTG) and identify its influencing factors in discharged COVID-19 patients. PTG refers to individual experiences of significant positive change arising from the struggle with a major life crisis. This descriptive cross-sectional study used the convenient sampling method to recruit 140 discharged COVID-19 patients in Hunan, China.

Readiness for Hospital Discharge and Its Correlates Among People Living With HIV in Hunan, China: A Cross-sectional Study.

We aimed to (a) describe the readiness for hospital discharge in people living with HIV and (b) explore factors associated with readiness for hospital discharge. A cross-sectional survey was conducted at two infectious disease hospitals in Hunan, China, from May to November 2017. This study aims to explore the association between life events and coping styles, and how resilience and self-esteem mediate the association. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 981 left-behind adolescents (LBAs) in five junior high schools in Hunan Province, China, from April 13 to April 20, 2020. We utilized self-designed sociodemographic questionnaire, Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Checklist, Resilience Scale Chinese Adolescent, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire to assess the mental health of LBAs.

Reframing the meaning of life and professional values: A theoretical framework of facilitating professional care for terminally ill patients.

Professional values reflect nurses' understanding of how to deliver professional care, which might influence nurses' attitudes and caring behaviors during end-of-life care. However, limited research has been conducted to explore nurses' experiences of professional development during end-of-life care, and theoretical explanations are scarce about how nurses enact their professional values during the caring process. This study explored the social process of professional values involved in end-of-life care in the Chinese cultural context by adopting a constructivist grounded theory approach.

Methods: To address this research need, PubMed, Ovid, Medline, EMBASE, and Scopus databases were searched through systematically from January 1, 1990, to January 1, 2019 to retrieve the relevant studies on the risk of postoperative complications after unilateral vs bilateral abdominal flap breast reconstruction. According to the pre-designed inclusion criteria, available data were extracted from the relevant studies, and then analyzed comparatively in order to identify the relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) applying either a random or a fixed effects model.

Quality of Life in Family Caregivers of Adolescents with Depression in China: A Mixed-Method Study.

Purpose: In this study, we investigated quantitatively the quality of life (QoL) and its influencing factors among Chinese family caregivers who care for adolescents with depression (AWD) and we explored qualitatively their care-giving experiences.

Methods: The study was a mixed method with convergent parallel design. The sociodemographic characteristics, QoL, caregivers' burden, family functioning, positive and negative affects were assessed by using questionnaires on 240 family caregivers of AWD in China.

Effectiveness of peer support intervention on perinatal depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: It has been suggested that peer support intervention may offer an alternative approach to prevent or treat perinatal depression, but little is known about its effectiveness, economics, and satisfaction in the prenatal and postpartum populations. This review summarizes available evidence on the effectiveness, economics, and satisfaction of peer support intervention on perinatal depression.

Methods: Multiple electronic databases were searched in five English databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, Psyc INFO, and CINAHL) and three Chinese databases (Wang Fang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database) from inception to April 2019.

With the development of antiretroviral therapy, the average life span of HIV/AIDS patients is extended, the number of elderly living with HIV/AIDS has increased, resulting the increase of the incidence of frailty syndrome in this population. The incidence of frailty syndrome in the elderly is associated with HIV infection and adverse reaction of antiretroviral therapy.

Associations among menopausal status, menopausal symptoms, and depressive symptoms in midlife women in Hunan Province, China.

This study aimed to determine the associations among menopausal status, menopausal symptoms, and depressive symptoms in midlife women in Hunan, China. A secondary analysis involving 3199 women aged 40-55 years was performed based on data from the Women Health Needs Survey 2018 in Hunan Province, central south China. The depressive symptoms were determined using the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire.

Resident and staff perspectives of person-centered climate in nursing homes: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Person-centered care is widely recognized as a gold standard and is based on a supportive psychosocial climate for both residents and staff in nursing homes. Residents and staff may have different perspectives as to whether the climate in which they interact is person-centered, perhaps due to their different expectations of the nursing home environment and the provision of care services. The aim of this study was to explore and compare resident and staff perspectives of person-centered climate in aged care nursing homes.
