Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) is a key regulator of cell division, and its abnormal expression is related to the progression and prognosis of cancers. However, the effect of PLK1 inhibitor onvansertib on the growth of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has not been explored. In this study, we performed a series of bioinformatics and experimental analyses to comprehensively investigate the role of PLK1 in LUAD.

Objective: To observe the effect of gasless endoscopic thyroidectomy through an axillary approach (GETAN) on the recurrent laryngeal nerve in patients with thyroid cancer.
Methods: One hundred and ten patients with thyroid cancer admitted to the department of general surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University were retrospectively selected as the research subjects. They were divided into an observation group (OG, 55 patients, treated with GETAN) and a control group (CG, 55 patients, treated with conventional radical resection for papillary thyroid cancer).

Background: RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has been found to have a critical impact on clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) by affecting the tumor microenvironment (TME) and immune cell (IC) infiltration and is related to the treatment and survival rate of patients with ccRCC. However, the mechanism of m6A in TME and IC infiltration remained unclear.
Methods: Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (NMF) clustering was performed on 650 ccRCC cases from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Gene-Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets.

Pyroptosis is a recently-identified pathway of host cell death that is stimulated by a range of microbial infections. Emerging evidence indicates pyroptosis plays crucial roles in tumor growth, disease progression, and migration of different cancer cells. However, the clinical significance of pyroptosis in tumor behavior prognosis, as well as the underlying mechanism in different cancers remains elusive.

The ongoing corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection, has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths. Cellular entry of SARS-CoV-2, which is mediated by the viral spike protein and ACE2 receptor, is an essential target for the development of vaccines, therapeutic antibodies, and drugs. Using a mammalian cell expression system, a genetically engineered sensor of fluorescent protein (Gamillus)-fused SARS-CoV-2 spike trimer (STG) to probe the viral entry process is developed.

This study aims to explore the mechanism of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in hypoxia through metabolomic and proteomic analysis. We showed that the migration and invasiveness of LN18 cells was significantly enhanced after 24 h of hypoxia treatment. The metabolomic and proteomic profiling were conducted in LN18 cells cultured under hypoxia condition.

Background: Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a clinical syndrome manifested by neurological symptoms in the first days of life in term infants.
Purpose: To investigate the therapy effect of Buyanghuanwu Tang (BYHWT), a decoction with 7 herbal ingredients, on neonatal rats with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and its mechanism.
Methods: 50 3-week male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into normal control group, model group, BYHWT 1d group, BYHWT 3d group and BYHWT 7d group, 10 rats in each group.

Aim: To investigate the associations between the expressions of three lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptors (LPA1-3) and the development of ovarian carcinoma (OC).
Method: Ovarian tissue specimens, including normal ovarian epithelium tissues, benign ovarian tumor tissues and OC tissues were collected from patients who underwent surgical resections between March 2012 and December 2014. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect LPA receptor expressions in ovarian tissues.

Accumulating evidence have emerged important roles for microRNAs (miRNAs) participating in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process and are associated with metastasis in cervical cancer. We hypothesized that miR-223 played an important role in cell metastasis of cervical cancer. Here, we found miR-223 was downregulated in human cervical cancer cell lines and clinical tumor tissues.

This study is to investigate the value of the metabolic parameters measured by sequential FDG PET/CT in predicting the overall survival of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). A total of 160 patients who were newly diagnosed as ESCC patients and treated with chemoradiotherapy were included in this study. The FDG PET/CT was carried out prior to radiotherapy (PET1), when the cumulative dose of radiotherapy reached 50 Gy (PET2), at the end of radiotherapy (PET3) and 1 month after radiotherapy (PET4).

Aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) is a screening test for primary aldosteronism, but it was impacted by a bunch of clinical covariates. The ARR is associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), renal artery stenosis, renin adenoma. This study aims to investigate relationship between ARR and primary aldosteronism in CKD patients.
