Shantou University Business School, Shantou University, Shantou, Guangdong, China.

Amidst the global restructuring of the semiconductor supply chain, this paper constructs a global semiconductor trade network (2007, 2012, 2017, 2021) encompassing three segments (raw materials, equipment, and finished components), based on the CEPII database. After initially exploring trade flows among different regions, the paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the network's overall structure and the significance of its nodes. Furthermore, the evolution of the trade network's community structure is discussed and its robustness and dynamics over recent years are assessed through computer program simulation.

Increasing pesticide diversity impairs soil microbial functions.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Urban Environment and Health, Ningbo Urban Environment Observation and Research Station, Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen 361021, China.

Pesticide application is essential for stabilizing agricultural production. However, the effects of increasing pesticide diversity on soil microbial functions remain unclear, particularly under varying nitrogen (N) fertilizer management practices. In this study, we investigated the stochasticity of soil microbes and multitrophic networks through amplicon sequencing, assessed soil community functions related to carbon (C), N, phosphorus (P), and sulfur (S) cycling, and characterized the dominant bacterial life history strategies via metagenomics along a gradient of increasing pesticide diversity under two N addition levels.

Vibro-polaritons are hybrid light-matter states that arise from the strong coupling between the molecular vibrational transitions and the photons in an optical cavity. Developing theoretical and computational methods to describe and predict the unique properties of vibro-polaritons is of great significance for guiding the design of new materials and experiments. Here, we present the ab initio cavity Born-Oppenheimer density functional theory (CBO-DFT) and formulate the analytic energy gradient and Hessian as well as the nuclear and photonic derivatives of dipole and polarizability within the framework of CBO-DFT to efficiently calculate the harmonic vibrational frequencies, infrared absorption, and Raman scattering spectra of vibro-polaritons as well as to explore the critical points on the cavity potential energy surface.

Shell Dependence of Highly Tunable Circular Dichroism in Chiral Hybrid Plasmonic Nanomaterials for Chiroptical Applications.

ACS Nano

January 2025

College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Hubei Key Laboratory of Electrochemical Power Sources, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430072, China.

Chiral plasmonic nanomaterials with fascinating physical and chemical properties show emerging chirality-dependent applications in photonics, catalysis, and sensing. The capability to precisely manipulate the plasmonic chirality in a broad spectral range plays a crucial role in enabling the applications of chiral nanomaterials in diverse and complex scenarios; however, it remains a challenge yet to be addressed. Here we demonstrate a strategy to significantly enhance the tunability of circular dichroism (CD) spectra of chiral nanomaterials by constructing core-shell hybrid metal-semiconductor structures with tailored shells.

Background: Treatment outcomes for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) have improved with all-trans-retinoic acid and arsenic trioxide, yet relapse remains a concern, especially in pediatric patients. The prognostic value of minimal residual disease (MRD) post-induction and the impact of arsenic levels during induction on MRD are not fully understood.

Objectives: To evaluate the relationship between post-induction MRD levels and relapse-free survival (RFS) in pediatric APL patients, and to investigate the correlation between blood arsenic concentration levels during induction therapy and MRD status.

Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT) is a frequent but severe type of male infertility. As one of the most multifaceted male infertility resulting from sperm problems, its genetic etiology remains unknown in most cases. In this review, we systematically sort out the latest literature on clinical reports and animal models leading to OAT, summarise the expression profiles of causative genes for OAT, and highlight the important role of the protein transport system during spermiogenesis, spermatid cell-specific genes, Golgi and acrosome-related genes, manchette-related genes, HTCA-related genes, and axoneme-related genes in OAT development.

Direct carbonylation of CH to CHCOOH provides a promising pathway for upgrading of natural gas to transportable liquid chemicals, in which high-efficiency CH activation and controllable C-C coupling are both critical but challenging. Herein, we report that highly efficient photo-driven carbonylation of CH with CO and O to CHCOOH is achieved over MoS-confined Rh-Zn atomic-pair in conjunction with TiO. It delivers a high CHCOOH productivity of 152.
