The assessment of early atherosclerosis (AS) via fluorescence imaging is crucial for advancing early diagnosis research. Abnormal inflammation biomarkers, including hypochlorous acid (HClO) and viscosity within mitochondria, have been closely linked to the pathogenesis of AS. However, current fluorescent probes predominantly rely on unimodal imaging that targets a single biomarker and lacks mitochondrial specificity, which can result in potential false signal readouts due to the complex intracellular environment.

Understanding metabolic activities involved in bloom formation during a single-species algal bloom has improved greatly. However, little is known about metabolic activities during a multi-species algal bloom. Here, we investigated protein expression profiles at different bloom stages of a mixed dinoflagellate bloom caused by Karenia mikimotoi and Prorocentrum obtusidens (syn.

Unwanted nonspecific adsorption caused by biomolecules influences the lifetime of biomedical devices and the sensing performance of biosensors. Previously, we have designed B-M-E triblock proteins that rapidly assemble on inorganic surfaces (gold and silica) and render those surfaces antifouling. The B-M-E triblock proteins have a surface-binding domain B, a multimerization domain M and an antifouling domain E.

Enterohepatic circulation (EHC) is a critical biological process for the normal regulation of many endogenous biomolecules and the increased retention of various exogenous substances. The status of EHC is closely related to the ordinary functioning of several digestive organs. However, it remains a challenge to achieve in vivo real-time visualization of this process.

Ankyrin Repeat Domain-containing Protein 11 () is a causative gene for KBG syndrome, a significant risk factor for Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS), and a highly confident autism spectrum disorder gene. Mutations of lead to developmental abnormalities in multiple organs/tissues including the brain, craniofacial and skeletal bones, and tooth structures with unknown mechanism(s). Here, we find that ANKRD11, via a short peptide fragment in its N-terminal region, binds to the cohesin complex with a high affinity, implicating why mutation can cause CdLS.

Background: This study aimed to enhance the scope of neonatal congenital heart disease (CHD) screening by evaluating the effectiveness of training personnel in CHD screening using the "dual-index" method, combining pulse oximetry with cardiac murmur auscultation.
Methods: From 2019 to 2022, a total of 2374 screening personnel from the Xinjiang, Yunnan, Hainan, Fujian, and Anhui provinces underwent training in neonatal CHD screening using the "dual-index" method, which involves pulse oximetry and cardiac murmur auscultation. Pre- and post-training assessments were conducted using a neonatal CHD screening knowledge questionnaire, distributed through the Questionnaire Star platform, to evaluate the impact of the training.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of hysterectomy for benign uterine tumors on subsequent ovarian reserve, sexual function, and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
Methods: The present study was a prospective longitudinal analysis that recruited patients aged 35-45 years who underwent simple hysterectomy without oophorectomy for symptomatic benign uterine tumors. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and serum sex hormone profiles, including follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol, progesterone, and total testosterone, were measured at four timepoints: before hysterectomy, and 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively.

Despite the increasing interest in radical-based fluoroalkylation techniques, the organofluorine compounds bearing the partially fluorinated hexafluoroisopropyl group remain extremely scarce due to the lack of appropriate reagents. Herein we report an unprecedented photoelectrocatalytic method for the C-H hexafluoroisopropylation of indoles and tryptophan peptides, utilizing the readily available hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP) as the fluoroalkylation reagent. In this process, HFIP is converted into hexafluoroisopropyl radicals, enabling fluoroalkylation reactions.

Alexandrium catenella is an important toxic algal species in the Alexandrium genus, which can form toxic red tides in large numbers. The paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) produced by Alexandrium catenella can seriously endanger human health and threaten the production and development of the aquaculture and fishery industries. Therefore, it is important to explore and develop effective detection and early warning methods for toxic red tides.

Accumulation of astrocytes around β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques is one of the earliest neuropathological changes in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the underlying mechanisms and significance remain unclear. Cell adhesion molecule protocadherin-γC5 (Pcdh-γC5) has been reported to implicate in AD. Here we find elevated expression level of Pcdh-γC5 in the brain of 5×FAD mice and Aβ-treated astrocytes, and further reveal that Pcdh-γC5 deficiency leads to exacerbated Aβ deposition in 5×FAD mice.

Background: Despite the wide use of compression garments to enhance athletic running performance, evidence supporting improvements has not been conclusive. This updated systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) compared the effects of compression garment wearing with those of non-compression garment wearing (controls) during running on improving running performance.
Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in the electronic databases (Web of Science, EBSCOhost, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane) for RCTs comparing running performance between runners wearing compression garments and controls during running, from inception to September 2024.
