Role of ginsenoside Rb1 in attenuating depression-like symptoms through astrocytic and microglial complement C3 pathway.

Metab Brain Dis

August 2024

Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering, College of Chemical Engineering, Huaqiao University, Xiamen, 361021, Fujian province, PR China.

Ginsenoside Rb1, known as gypenoside III, exerts antidepressant-like effects in previous studies. It has also been indicated that ginsenoside Rb1 regulated neuroinflammation via inhibiting NF-κB signaling. According to the evidence that astrocytes can regulate microglia and neuroinflammation by secreting complement C3, the present study aimed to demonstrate the molecular mechanisms underlying ginsenoside Rb1-induced antidepressant-like effects from the astrocytic and microglial complement C3 pathway.

In this paper, the research hypothesis of conservation of hardness coefficient is put forward, and a mathematical formula for describing and analyzing the relationship between hardness coefficient and bond energy is established in this model. The binding process of two heteronuclear atoms can be represented by Cassini oval in dynamic form, every molecular state corresponds to one of these graphs; then the critical phenomena of molecular deformation are discovered and the calculated potential energy at the critical point is consistent with the experimental dissociation energy of molecules (R is 0.99999, P < 0.

Background: Tumor immunotherapy is a new treatment breakthrough for retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLS), which is highly invasive and has few effective treatment options other than tumor resection. However, the heterogeneity of the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) leads to missed clinical diagnosis and inappropriate treatment. Therefore, it is crucial to evaluate whether the TIME of a certain part of the tumor reliably represents the whole tumor, particularly for very large tumors, such as RPLS.

  • HBV (hepatitis B virus) infection poses a significant global health challenge, largely due to the role of cccDNA (covalently closed circular DNA) in chronic infections, prompting research into targeting host factors for potential treatment.
  • The study focused on the JMJD2 protein family, specifically JMJD2D, revealing that its upregulation in infected cells enhances HBV replication by stabilizing the HBx protein and inhibiting its degradation.
  • Results suggest JMJD2D as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for chronic hepatitis B, with the inhibition of this protein leading to decreased cccDNA transcription and HBV replication.

Depression is a serious mental illness, mainly characterized as large mood swings and sleep, diet, and cognitive function disorders. NLPR3, one of the inflammasomes that can be activated by a variety of stimuli to promote the maturation and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, has been considered to be involved in the pathophysiology of depression. In this study, the putative role of CY-09, a selective and direct inhibitor of NLRP3, was evaluated in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mice.
