The Training and Evaluation of the "Dual-Index" Screening Method for Neonatal Congenital Heart Disease: A Multi-Center Study in China.

Background: This study aimed to enhance the scope of neonatal congenital heart disease (CHD) screening by evaluating the effectiveness of training personnel in CHD screening using the "dual-index" method, combining pulse oximetry with cardiac murmur auscultation.

Methods: From 2019 to 2022, a total of 2374 screening personnel from the Xinjiang, Yunnan, Hainan, Fujian, and Anhui provinces underwent training in neonatal CHD screening using the "dual-index" method, which involves pulse oximetry and cardiac murmur auscultation. Pre- and post-training assessments were conducted using a neonatal CHD screening knowledge questionnaire, distributed through the Questionnaire Star platform, to evaluate the impact of the training.

Risk factors for pleural effusion in children with plastic bronchitis caused by pneumonia.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the clinical features of children with plastic bronchitis caused by pneumonia, and assess the risk factors for pleural effusion (PE) in plastic bronchitis.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on children with plastic bronchitis and hospitalized in Xiamen Children's Hospital from January 2017 to April 2023. Participants were categorized based on the presence of PE.

Application value of P-selectin and Clara cell secretory protein 16 expression in children with severe adenovirus pneumonia.

This study investigated the roles of P-selectin and Clara cell secretory protein 16 (CC16) levels in the pathogenesis of severe adenovirus (ADV) pneumonia in children and evaluated their ability to predict disease. Fifty-one children (age, 1-5 years) with ADV pneumonia who were admitted to Xiamen Children's Hospital were included in this study and divided into the mild group (24 patients) and severe group (27 patients). A control group comprising healthy children of the same age who underwent routine physical examinations during the same period (30 patients) was also included.

Association between adherence to a lifestyle behavior and the risk of asthma in overweight and obese adolescents.

With the increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents, to actively prevent the occurrence of asthma in this population is important for reducing the burden of the disease. Lifestyle factors, including diet and exercise, are importance for overweight and obese adolescents, as well as an important modifiable factor affecting airway inflammation and asthma, whether healthy lifestyle was correlated with the risk of asthma in adolescents ≥ 12 years has not been reported. We suspected that there might be correlation between healthy lifestyle behaviors and the risk of asthma in overweight and obese adolescents.

Association of Antenatal Corticosteroids with Neonatal Outcomes among Very Preterm Infants Born to Mothers with Clinical Chorioamnionitis: A Multicenter Cohort Study.

The objective of this study was to assess the relationship of ACS with neonatal outcomes among very preterm infants born to mothers with clinical chorioamnionitis in China. This was a multicenter retrospective cohort study. Study participants included infants born at <32 weeks' gestation with clinical chorioamnionitis and registered in the Chinese Neonatal Network from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2020.

The effect of developmental care on the length of hospital stay and family centered care practice for very low birth weight infants in neonatal intensive care units: A cluster randomized controlled trial.

Background: Despite previous studies suggesting that developmental care can provide benign stimulation to promote neural development of newborns, more evidence is needed regarding the other clinical benefits of developmental care.

Methods And Materials: A retrospective analysis was conducted of children diagnosed ADV pneumonia and underwent fiberoptic bronchoscopy admitted to the Xiamen Children's Hospital from September 2018 to September 2021.The patients were divided into a mucus plug group (39 cases) and a non-mucus plug group (53 cases).

Clinical characteristics of severe influenza virus-associated pneumonia complicated with bacterial infection in children: a retrospective analysis.

Background: We aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of severe influenza virus-associated pneumonia complicated with bacterial infection in children.

Methods: We retrospectively analysed data concerning 64 paediatric patients with severe influenza virus-associated pneumonia who had been treated at our hospital. The patients were divided into observation (44 patients) and control (20 patients) groups, based on the presence or absence of concomitant bacterial infection, and clinical data were compared between the groups.
