Background: Calcium-free (Ca-free) solutions are theoretically the most ideal for regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). However, the majority of medical centers in China had to make a compromise of using commercially available calcium-containing (Ca-containing) solutions instead of Ca-free ones due to their scarcity. This study was designed to probe into the potential of Ca-containing solution as a secure and efficient substitution for Ca-free solutions.

Due to their excellent catalytic activities, cerium oxide nanoparticles have promise as biological nanoenzymes. A redox reaction occurs between Ce ions and Ce ions during which they undergo conversion by acquiring or losing electrons as well as forming oxygen vacancies (or defects) in the lattice structure, which can act as antioxidant enzymes and simulate various enzyme activities. A number of cerium oxide nanoparticles have been engineered with multienzyme activities, including catalase, superoxide oxidase, peroxidase, and oxidase mimetic properties.

CYP2C19 gene has multiple single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), which is the major determinant for clopidogrel treatment responses. Therefore, CYP2C19 SNP detection is essential for predicting clopidogrel efficacy. Currently, there is still no quick and effective method for routine detection of common CYP2C19 SNPs in clinical laboratories, which is critically needed prior to clopidogrel treatment.

Background: D-dimer (DD) is a vital biomarker to rule out the diagnosis of aortic dissection (AD). However, the DD level in some patients with AD is not high in clinical practice, which often leads to missed diagnosis; therefore, understanding the characteristics of patients with AD and negative DD is of great clinical value.
Methods: From May 2015 to October 2020, 286 patients with AD who visited the first medical contact (FMC) within 24 h of symptom onset and were hospitalized in the Xiamen Cardiovascular Hospital of Xiamen University were enrolled in this study.

Purpose Of Review: Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a widespread health condition affecting a large number of individuals across the globe. Although lifestyle choices and environmental factors are known to have a significant impact on its development, there is growing recognition of the influence of genetic factors in the pathogenesis of hypertension. This review specifically focuses on the hereditary causes of hypertension that are associated with increased sodium transport through the thiazide-sensitive NaCl cotransporter (NCC) or amiloride-sensitive epithelial sodium channel (ENaC), crucial mechanisms involved in regulating blood pressure in the kidneys.
