Tangerine peel is a traditional Chinese herb and has been widely applied in foods and medicine for its multiple pharmacological effects. Erythropoietin receptor (EPOR), a member of the cytokine receptor family, is widely expressed in multiple tissues in especial kidney and plays protective effects in adverse physiological and pathological conditions. We hypothesized that it might be EPOR agonists existing in Tangerine peel bring such renal benefits.

Identification and resolution of drug-related problems in the cardiovascular surgery unit of a tertiary hospital in China: a retrospective study.

Objective: The prevalence and characteristics of drug-related problems (DRPs) in the cardiovascular surgery unit have not been adequately explored, leaving a gap in our understanding of this critical issue. This study aimed to address this gap by determining the prevalence, characteristics of DRPs and identifying factors associated with their occurrence.

Methods: During a non-consecutive 48-month study period, a retrospective analysis was conducted to investigate DRPs and the interventions carried out by pharmacists for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a haematological lymphoid malignancy marked by significant morbidity due to severe complications. Despite advances in targeted therapies, including proteasome inhibitors and the BCL-2 inhibitor venetoclax, drug resistance frequently occurs, with the underlying mechanisms poorly understood. This study investigates the role of lysosome-associated protein transmembrane 5 (LAPTM5) in conferring resistance to venetoclax in relapsed MM.

The objective of this study is to find out whether synchronous activities exist between the motor cortex and individual MUs.

Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have identified more than 300 susceptibility loci associated with central obesity. Accuracy of robot-assisted implant surgery versus freehand placement: a retrospective clinical study.

Purpose: This study evaluated the accuracy of implant placement using a robotic system (Remebot) compared to freehand surgery and explored factors influencing accuracy.

Methods: This retrospective study included 95 implants placed in 65 patients, divided into robot-assisted (50 implants) and freehand (45 implants) groups. Platform, apical, and angular deviations were measured by superimposing preoperative plans and the postoperative CBCT images.

Methods: We enrolled patients diagnosed with CKD concomitant with AMI, choosing five inflammatory markers related to both diseases.

Objective: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of endometrial cancer incidence trends in Hong Kong over the past three decades. It aims to evaluate the impact of demographic shifts and epidemiological factors, including age, birth cohort, and diagnosis period, on the incidence rates. The study also projects future trends in endometrial cancer cases up to 2030 and assesses the contributions of these factors using a detailed decomposition approach.

Promoting Balanced Ecological-economic Development in Ecologically Vulnerable Regions: Spatio-temporal Variation and Driving Factors.

Formulating a consistent standard for ecosystem service value (ESV) estimation and incorporating it into government decision-making is an important way to achieve balanced ecological-economic development. Taking the ecologically vulnerable areas in Northwest China as an example, this paper uses the value transfer method to estimate the ESV of cropland, forest, grassland, waters, and unused land; analyzes the spatio-temporal characteristics of the increment of ESV (△ESV) and ecological-economic harmony (EEH) index in each city; as well as identifies their key influential factors. The results suggest that value transfer is a feasible approach to developing a consistent standard for ESV estimation.

Patients at high risk of deep vein thrombosis are recommended to undergo lower-extremity ultrasonography to screen for pulmonary embolism (PE); however, there are few reports on whether this can effectively reduce the occurrence of fatal pulmonary embolism (FPE). This study aimed to assess the risk factors associated with PE and to investigate whether perioperative ultrasound screening of lower extremity veins in orthopedic patients can effectively reduce the incidence of FPE. We enrolled 137 patients with PE who underwent orthopedic surgery between 2013 and 2020.
