Analogous to the aqueous solution where the pH of the solvent affects its multiple behaviors, the optical acidity and basicity of molten salts also greatly influence their thermophysical and thermochemical properties. In the study, we develop ion probes to quantitatively determine the acidity-basicity scale of molten NaCl-AlCl ( = 1.5-2.

Adult mammals are unable to regenerate bulky bone tissues, making large bone defects clinically challenging. Deer antler represents an exception to this rule, exhibiting the fastest bony growth in mammals, offering a unique opportunity to explore novel strategies for rapid bone regeneration. Here, a bone graft exploiting the biochemical, biophysical, and structural characteristics of antlers is constructed.

Objective: To evaluate the injuries of the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), superior laryngeal nerve (SLN), and their innervated laryngeal muscles on the non-paralyzed sides in patients with idiopathic vocal cord paralysis (IVCP).
Methods: Eighty-four cases of patients with IVCP were evaluated using stroboscopic laryngoscopy, voice analysis, and laryngeal electromyography(LEMG). Concurrently, twenty-eight cases involving healthy volunteers without vocal cord paralysis were enrolled and examined using LEMG during the same period.

Osteosarcoma is a common primary malignant bone tumor with a high incidence in children and adolescents, with high invasiveness and lung metastases. Even after traditional surgical excision, chemoradiotherapy, and comprehensive treatment, the survival rate of patients is still low, and the prognosis is not ideal. As an important part of non-coding RNA family, lncRNA and miRNA have significant regulatory effects on the growth, proliferation, metastasis and apoptosis of osteosarcoma cells.

Accurate quantification of cisplatin (cDDP) in body fluids (blood, urine, and ascites) is crucial in monitoring therapeutic processes, assessing drug metabolism, and optimizing treatment schedules for cancer patients. Nonetheless, due to the inherent fluorescence and complexity of the body fluid matrix, along with the low cDDP concentrations in these fluids during treatment, using fluorescent sensors for fluid detection remains a subject of ongoing research. Herein, a series of water-soluble cDDP-activatable fluorescent sensors was rationally constructed by introducing thioether groups to the xanthene skeleton based on the chalcogenophilicity of platinum.

Urine culture is the gold standard for identifying microorganisms in urine. However, the process is time-consuming and usually takes days to get the results, which impedes timely treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of UF-5000 in excluding bacterial urinary tract infection (UTI) and detecting the presence of Gram-negative bacteria.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the predominant metabolic liver disorder and currently lacks effective and safe pharmaceutical interventions. Daphnetin (DA), a natural coumarin derivative with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, is a promising agent for NAFLD treatment. In this study, we evaluated the effects and mechanisms of DA on hepatic lipid metabolism in ob/ob mice.

Organoids are "mini-organs" that self-organize and differentiate from stem cells under in vitro 3D culture conditions, mimicking the spatial structure and function of tissues in vivo. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale phospholipid bilayer vesicles secreted by living cells, rich in bioactive molecules, with excellent biocompatibility and low immunogenicity. Compared to EVs, organoid-derived EVs (OEVs) exhibit higher yield and enhanced biological functions.

To strengthen the control of pollution sources and promote soil pollution management of agricultural land, this study constructed a comprehensive source apportionment framework, which significantly improved the reliability of potential source analysis compared with the traditional single model. The spatial distribution pattern of agricultural soil heavy metals (SHMs) content in Lintong, a typical river valley city in China, was determined and the degree of contamination was evaluated. A scientific source apportionment methodological framework was constructed through correlation analysis methods together with multiple source apportionment receptor models.

Aliphatic allylic amines are present in a large number of complex and pharmaceutically relevant molecules. The direct amination of allylic electrophiles serves as the most common method toward the preparation of these motifs. However, the use of feedstock reaction components (allyl alcohol and aliphatic amine) in these transformations remains a great challenge.

The management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) continues to pose significant challenges due to the absence of curative therapies and a high rate of recurrence. Therefore, it is imperative to explore novel approaches to enhance the efficacy of IBD therapy. Herein, a bioactive nanoparticulate s is tailored designed to achieve a "Pull-Push" approach for efficient and safe IBD treatment by integrating reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging (Pull) with anti-inflammatory agent delivery (Push) in the inflammatory microenvironment.

Although chemodynamic therapy (CDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT) based on a variety of nanoparticles have been developed to achieve effective anti-bacterial therapy, the limited therapeutic efficiency of CDT alone, as well as the undifferentiated damage of PTT to both bacteria and surrounding healthy tissue are still challenges for their clinical application of infected wounds treatments. In addition, during the CDT and PTT-mediated antimicrobial processes, the endogenous macrophages would be easily converted to pro-inflammatory macrophages (M1 phenotype) under local ROS and hyperthermia to promote inflammation, resulting in unexpected suppression of tissue regeneration and possible wound deterioration. To address these problems, a biodegradable sodium alginate/hyaluronic acid hydrogel loaded with functional CeO-Au nano-alloy (AO@AC) is fabricated to not only achieve precise and efficient antibacterial activity through infection-environment dependent photothermal-chemodynamic therapy but also rapidly eliminate the excess reactive oxygens (ROS) in the M1 type macrophage at the infected area to induce their polarization to M2 type for significant inhibition of inflammation and remarkable enhancement of tissue regeneration, hopefully developing an effective strategy to treat infected wound.

Organic photosensitizers (PSs) play important roles in phototheranostics, and contribute to the fast development of precision medicine. However, water-soluble and highly emissive organic PSs, especially those emitting in the short-wave infrared region (SWIR), are still challenging. Also, it's difficult to prepare self-reporting PSs for visualizing the treatment via stimulated emission depletion (STED) nanoscopy.
