Insertion/deletion (InDel) polymorphisms can be used as one of the ancestry-informative markers in ancestry analysis. In this study, a self-developed panel consisting of 56 ancestry-informative InDels was used to investigate the genetic structures and genetic relationships between Chinese Inner Mongolia Manchu group and 26 reference populations. The Inner Mongolia Manchu group was closely related in genetic background to East Asian populations, especially the Han Chinese in Beijing.

To investigate the characteristics of air-conducted sound cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (ACS-cVEMP) and bone-conducted vibration cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (BCV-cVEMP) in healthy preschool children, and to provide the normal reference range of VEMP for preschool children in China. Forty-four normal-hearing children (88 ears) aged 3-7 years were recruited to undergo ACS-cVEMP and BCV-cVEMP determination. These children were divided into two groups according to age: 3-4 years old group ( 17 cases, 34 ears) and 5-7 years old group ( 27 cases, 54 ears).

This study sought to explore the effect of age on arousal index in patients with OSAHS, and the significance of arousal index among different phenotypes identified through cluster analysis according to clinical symptoms and complications. A total of 607 adult patients with OSAHS who received polysomnography in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from July 2020 to July 2021 were selected. All patients registered basic human data, symptoms, complaints and complications, completed the Epworth Sleepiness Scale.

NB-UVB Induces Melanocytic Differentiation of Human Hair Follicle Neural Crest Stem Cells.

Ann Dermatol

August 2020

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA.

Background: Phototherapy is an important method to treat vitiligo. However, it is unclear how phototherapy affects melanocyte precursors and skin neural crest stem cells.

Objective: To investigate the underlying mechanisms of narrow-band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) induced melanocyte lineage differentiated from human scalp-derived neural crest stem cells (HS-NCSCs).

Objective: We sought to explore the relationships between multiple chemokines with spirometry, inflammatory mediators and CT findings of emphysema, small airways disease and bronchial wall thickness.

Methods: All patients with COPD ( = 65) and healthy control subjects ( = 23) underwent high-resolution CT, with image analysis determining the low attenuation area (LAA), ratio of mean lung attenuation on expiratory and inspiratory scans (E/I MLD) and bronchial wall thickness of inner perimeter of a 10-mm diameter airway (Pi10). At enrollment, subjects underwent pulmonary function studies, chemokines and inflammatory mediators measurements.

Rapid detection of extended-spectrum β-Lactamases producers in Enterobacteriaceae using a calorimetry approach.

J Appl Microbiol

May 2021

Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Basic Medical Science of Xi'anJiaotong University Health Science Center, Key Laboratory of Environmental and Genes Related to Disease, Ministry of Education, Xi'an, China.

Aim: To design and assess a novel protocol that employs isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) for rapid detection of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producers in clinical pathogens.

Methods And Results: A total of 69 clinical Enterobacteriaceae isolates were examined in the new ESBL-ITC test by examining the heat profiles associated with enzyme hydrolysis of different substrates (imipenem, cefotaxime and clavulanic acid). The presence of β-lactamase genes in the bacteria tested was confirmed by PCR and DNA sequencing.

EGR1 interacts with DNMT3L to inhibit the transcription of miR-195 and plays an anti-apoptotic role in the development of gastric cancer.

J Cell Mol Med

November 2019

Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Xi'anJiaotong University Health Science Center, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China.

EGR1 regulates the expression of its downstream target genes and may exert different biological effects in different tumours. We found that the expression of EGR1 was increased in gastric cancer (GC), and silencing the expression of EGR1 promoted the apoptosis of GC cells. Moreover, overexpression of EGR1 repressed the apoptosis of GC cells.

Objective: Simultaneous recording of transmembrane action potential at endocardium, midcardium and epicardium and transmural ECG in arterially perfused left ventricular preparation is a new method for researching into the mechanism about ventricular arrhythmia, and in this connection, how to distinguish the perfused area plays a key role in keeping preparations under normal condition. This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of Evan Blue on the displaying of the perfused area and on the characters of transmembrane action potential of the arterially perfused left ventricular preparations.

Methods: Rabbit left ventricular wedge preparations were perfused with Tyrode solution continuously via left circumflex, and the action potential of endocardium, midmyocardium, epicardium or transmural electrocardiogram were recorded simultaneously.
