Background: Patients with rheumatic diseases who receive long-term treatment with steroids, immunosuppressants, or biologics are more susceptible to infection with pathogens than the general population. In order to explore the differences in clinical features and prognosis of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection between patients with rheumatic diseases and the general population (family members), a retrospective investigative study was used to analyze the differences between the two populations.

Methods: The study was conducted in 13 Grade A Tertiary hospitals in China to investigate the clinical symptoms and prognostic factors of patients with rheumatic diseases who were infected with COVID-19 for the first time and their families.

Background: First-pass successful reperfusion (FPSR), defined as a successful/complete reperfusion achieved after a single thrombectomy pass, is predictive of favorable outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke with large-vessel occlusion. It is unknown whether intravenous tirofiban is effective in increasing the rate of FPSR in acute anterior large-vessel occlusion stroke.

Introduction: Based on real-world case data, this study intends to explore and analyze the impact of rescue conscious sedation (CS) on the clinical outcomes of patients with anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke (AIS) receiving mechanical thrombectomy (MT).

Methods: This retrospective study enrolled patients with anterior circulation AIS who received MT and were treated with either single local anesthesia (LA) or rescue CS during MT between January 2018 and October 2021. We used univariate and multivariate logistic regression methods to compare the impact of LA and CS on the clinical outcomes of patients with AIS who received MT, including the mRS at 90 days, the incidence of poststroke pneumonia (PSP), the incidence of symptomatic intracranial cerebral hemorrhage (sICH), and the mortality rate.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among hemodialysis (HD) patients in Lanzhou of Northwestern China, we interviewed 565 patients from five randomly sampled HD centers in Lanzhou with a structured questionnaire including sociodemographic characteristics, past medical history and HD-related factors.

CD14-positive monocytes from patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are more resistant to apoptosis, which promotes their persistence at the inflammatory site and thereby contributes crucially to immunopathology. We sought to elucidate one mechanism underlying this unique pathogenesis: resistance to apoptosis and the potential involvement of miR-29b in this process. CD14-positive peripheral blood monocytes (PBMs) from RA patients were observed to be resistant to spontaneous apoptosis compared to PBMs from healthy volunteers.
