Activation of the sympatho-β-adrenergic receptor (βAR) system is the hallmark of heart disease with adverse consequences that facilitate the onset and progression of heart failure (HF). Use of β-blocking drugs has become the front-line therapy for HF. Last decade has witnessed progress in research demonstrating a pivotal role of Hippo pathway in cardiomyopathy and HF.

Background: The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) serves as a novel composite lipid indicator for atherosclerosis. However, the association between NHHR and mortality in patients with diabetes or prediabetes remains unclear. Consequently, the objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between NHHR and both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in US adults with diabetes or prediabetes.

The migration is the key step for thymic T cells to enter circulation and then lymph nodes (LNs), essential for future immune surveillance. Although promoter-based transcriptional regulation through Foxo1, Klf2, Ccr7, and Sell regulates T-cell migration, it remains largely unexplored whether and how enhancers are involved in this process. Here we found that the conditional deletion of Med1, a component of the mediator complex and a mediator between enhancers and RNA polymerase II, caused a reduction of both CD4 and CD8 T cells in LNs, as well as a decrease of CD8 T cells in the spleen.

We aimed to examine the effects of antibiotic and probiotic usage on the gut microbiota structure and the presence of antibiotic-resistance genes (ARGs) in infants during the first six months of life. Questionnaires and fecal samples were collected within three days of birth, two months, and six months to assess antibiotic and probiotic exposure. Gut microbiotas were sequenced via 16S rRNA, and ARGs were conducted by qPCR, including beta-lactam (, ), tetracycline (), fluoroquinolone (), aminoglycoside (), and macrolide ().

Air pollution is one of the greatest environmental risks to health, with 99% of the world's population living where the World Health Organization's air quality guidelines were not met. In addition to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, the brain is another potential target of air pollution. Population- and experiment-based studies have shown that air pollution may affect mental health through direct or indirect biological pathways.

The evolutionary conservation of non-core RAG regions suggests significant roles that might involve quantitative or qualitative alterations in RAG activity. Off-target V(D)J recombination contributes to lymphomagenesis and is exacerbated by RAG2' C-terminus absence in mice thymic lymphomas. However, the genomic stability effects of non-core regions from both and in B-lymphoblastic leukemia ( B-ALL), the characteristics, and mechanisms of non-core regions in suppressing off-target V(D)J recombination remain unclear.

Objective: To investigate the association of triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its diagnostic value for NAFLD in non-obese individuals.
Methods: We retrospectively collected the data of non-obese individuals (BMI < 25 kg/m) undergoing routine health examination at Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University between May, 2020 and December, 2023, who all received abdominal ultrasound examination for NAFLD screening. The nonlinear relationship between TyG and non-obese NAFLD was explored using restricted cubic splines (RCS), and LASSO regression was used for variable screening; the correlation between TyG and NAFLD risk was analyzed using multivariate logistic regression.

Neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) persist in the mammalian subventricular zone (SVZ) throughout life, responding to various pathophysiological stimuli and playing a crucial role in central nervous system repair. Although numerous studies have elucidated the role of stanniocalcin 2 (STC2) in regulating cell differentiation processes, its specific function in NSPCs differentiation remains poorly understood. Clarifying the role of STC2 in NSPCs is essential for devising novel strategies to enhance the intrinsic potential for brain regeneration postinjury.
