Correlation between echocardiographic and pathoanatomic variables and their prognostic value in murine cardiomyopathy models remain unknown. Using echocardiography, morphometrics, and survival monitoring, we characterized transgenic (TG) mice with dilated cardiomyopathy due to cardiac overexpression of β-adrenoceptors focusing on predicting heart failure (HF) risk and HF mortality. In 12-month-old non-TG and TG mice, echocardiography was performed to determine left ventricular (LV) dimensions (d), wall thickness (h), and fractional shortening (FS).

Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a chronic degenerative bone metabolic disease that primarily affects older adults, leading to chronic pain and disability that affect patients' daily activities. Electroacupuncture (EA) is a commonly used method for the treatment of chronic pain in clinical practice. Previous studies indicate that the endocannabinoid system is involved in EA analgesia, but whether endocannabinopeptide VD-hemopressin (α) and RVD-hemopressin (α) derived from hemoglobin chains are involved in EA analgesia is unclear.

Background: In large multiregional cohort studies, survival data is often collected at small geographical levels (such as counties) and aggregated at larger levels, leading to correlated patterns that are associated with location. Traditional studies typically analyze such data globally or locally by region, often neglecting the spatial information inherent in the data, which can introduce bias in effect estimates and potentially reduce statistical power.
Method: We propose a Geographically Weighted Accelerated Failure Time Model for spatial survival data to investigate spatial heterogeneity.

Purpose: Despite BAFF's (B cell activating factor, BAFF) known influence on B cell survival and proliferation, its specific effects within the tumor microenvironment remain unclear. We aimed to elucidate how BAFF overexpression in breast cancer cells impacts tumor growth and the functions of T and B cells in the tumor microenvironment.
Methods: BAFF was overexpressed in the 4T1 mouse triple-negative breast cancer cell line, and tumor growth, immune cell infiltration, and activity were assessed in vitro and in vivo using flow cytometry, co-culture assays, and mouse tumor models with B cell depletion.

Aim: Compared with the C57BL/6N substrain, the C57BL/6J substrain is more susceptible to the angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced development of dissected abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). The aim of this study was to elucidate whether the widely used C57BL/6N mouse substrain is as susceptible as the C57BL/6J mouse substrain to porcine pancreatic elastase (PPE) infusion-induced experimental nondissected AAA development.
Methods: Experimental nondissected AAAs were induced in C57BL/6J and C57BL/6N mice via transient aortic luminal infusion of PPE.

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) play critical roles in cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). In addition, reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by NADPH oxidases (NOXs) exert damaging effects due to oxidative stress on heart and blood vessels. Although NOX-dependent ROS production is implicated in pathogenesis, the relationship between HDACs and NOXs in CVDs remains to be elucidated.

Inflammation is a protective response to pathogens and injury. To be effective it needs to be resolved by endogenous mechanisms in order to avoid prolonged and excessive inflammation, which can become chronic. Specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) are a group of lipids derived from omega-3 fatty acids, which can induce the resolution of inflammation.

Cellular senescence (CS) is characterized by the irreversible cell cycle arrest and plays a key role in aging and diseases, such as cancer. Recent years have witnessed the burgeoning exploration of the intricate relationship between CS and cancer, with CS recognized as either a suppressing or promoting factor and officially acknowledged as one of the 14 cancer hallmarks. However, a comprehensive characterization remains absent from elucidating the divergences of this relationship across different cancer types and its involvement in the multi-facets of tumor development.
