Background: Postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) after major abdominal surgery leads to poor outcomes. The Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) may aid in managing intraoperative hemodynamic instability. This study assessed if HPI-guided therapy reduces moderate-to-severe AKI incidence in moderate-to-high-risk elective abdominal surgery patients.

The integration of genetics and genomics into nursing practice is essential for addressing genetic pathologies and providing personalized patient care. This study aims to analyze the nursing education curricula across Spanish universities to understand how genetic and genomic concepts are incorporated. Using the "Qué estudiar y dónde en la Universidad" (QEDU) database, an official source provided by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, a systematic review of 4720 teaching guides from 118 university centers was conducted.

Background/objectives: Clinical simulation is a pivotal educational strategy in nursing, facilitating the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills in a safe environment. While the benefits of simulation in enhancing technical and non-technical competencies are well-documented, the transition of nursing students to the role of instructors within these simulations remains underexplored, particularly in the Spanish context. This study aims to investigate how assuming the instructor role in clinical simulations impacts the professional development of fourth-year nursing students.

Unlabelled: Alterations in the tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) , , and are associated with treatment resistance, worse survival, and aggressive variants of prostate cancer (AVPC). We previously developed and validated a signature reflecting low TSG expression (TSG) that was associated with poor outcomes in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) treated with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) ± docetaxel. The aim of this multicenter retrospective study was to validate the TSG signature in patients with mHSPC treated with ADT and an androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (ARPI) and to explore clinical characteristics at progression according to TSG status.

Melanoma is the most aggressive and deadly form of skin cancer, and its incidence has been steadily increasing over the past few decades, particularly in the Caucasian population. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), anti-PD-1 monotherapy or in combination with anti-CTLA-4, and more recently, anti-PD-1 plus anti-LAG-3 have changed the clinical evolution of this disease. However, a significant percentage of patients do not benefit from these therapies.

Purpose: Studies integrating an exhaustive longitudinal long-term follow-up of postintensive care syndrome (PICS) in critically ill COVID-19 survivors are scarce. We aimed to 1) describe PICS-related sequelae over a 12-month period after intensive care unit (ICU) discharge, 2) identify relevant demographic and clinical factors related to PICS, and 3) explore how PICS-related sequelae may influence health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in critically ill COVID-19 survivors.
Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study in adult critically ill survivors of SARS-CoV-2 infection that did or did not need invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain (March 2020 to January 2021).

Objective: This work sought to assess the perception of knowledge transfer from clinical simulations to the care practice in nursing students through effective debriefing.
Methods: An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 281 students during the 2020-2021 course, through una ad hoc survey from the Debriefing Assessment for Simulation in Healthcare (DASH) in Spanish, to assess competence areas that undergraduate students must reach to complete their studies.
Results: The survey conducted after each simulation showed that the students valued positively the debriefing sessions conducted by experts, with a mean score of 6.

Background: Computer-aided detection (CADe) systems for colonoscopy have been shown to increase small polyp detection during colonoscopy in the general population. People with Lynch syndrome represent an ideal target population for CADe-assisted colonoscopy because adenomas, the primary cancer precursor lesions, are characterised by their small size and higher likelihood of showing advanced histology. We aimed to evaluate the performance of CADe-assisted colonoscopy in detecting adenomas in individuals with Lynch syndrome.

Background: In standard weaning from mechanical ventilation, a successful spontaneous breathing test (SBT) consisting of 30 min 8 cmHO pressure-support ventilation (PSV8) without positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is followed by extubation with continuous suctioning; however, these practices might promote derecruitment. Evidence supports the feasibility and safety of extubation without suctioning. Ultrasound can assess lung aeration and respiratory muscles.
