Targeted medication, including mostly biologics and small-molecule chemical drugs, is an important therapy for ankylosing spondylitis (AS). There are still limited data on the preference of different targeted drugs in Chinese AS patients. A questionnaire-based cross-sectional study was performed on AS patients from six hospitals in three provinces in South China.

We aimed to determine ischemia of the choriocapillaris at the leakage point of patients with acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) by optical coherence tomographic angiography (OCTA). A retrospective study of 38 eyes of 38 acute CSC patients with spontaneous complete resolution of subretinal fluid (SRF) was conducted and patients were followed for 3 months. Fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) were performed at baseline.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the significance of alpha-enolase (ENO1) expression in squamous cell carcinoma of the lung (LUSC), its prognostic value, and prospective molecular mechanism. Using multiplatforms data, including in-house immunohistochemistry, in-house real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), in-house microarray, and public high-throughput data, the expression significance and prognostic role of ENO1 in LUSC tissues were analyzed comprehensively. With the combination of all eligible cases, compared with 941 non-LUSC lung tissues, ENO1 was significantly overexpressed in 1163 cases of LUSC (standardized mean difference (SMD) = 1.

To investigate the difference in chorioretinal microcirculation between acute central serous chorioretinopathy (aCSC) and chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC) using optical coherence tomography angiography. In total, 65 patients previously diagnosed with central serous chorioretinopathy (33 aCSC and 32 cCSC) were included in our cross-sectional study. All patients underwent complete ophthalmologic assessment including logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution best-corrected visual acuity, fundus fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography angiography.

This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of myocardial protection. The effects of miR-32-3p and ring finger protein 13 (RNF13) on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-induced apoptosis of A-10 cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) were detected using flow cytometry. The effects of miR-32-3p and phenylbutyric acid (PBA) on plaque instability and myocardial tissue injury in rats were investigated after establishment of arterial plaque model and embolization model and treatment with miR-32-3p-antagomir and PBA.

Background: Cavernous hemangioma is a rare benign tumor that develops from the adrenal glands. In this study, we present our experience with patients with adrenal cavernous hemangiomas (ACH) in a Chinese population.
Methods: Demographic, diagnostic, surgical, and pathological findings in patients at a single institution who were adrenalectomized as a result of ACH were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: Adrenal schwannomas (AS) are extremely rare neoplasms. This study shares our experience regarding the diagnosis and operative management of AS.
Methods: Clinical details, radiologic, laboratory, and pathologic findings as well as follow-up data were analysed retrospectively for 13 AS patients who accepted surgery at a tertiary referral hospital in China between 1 January 1996, and 31 December 2017.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the major histological type of esophageal cancers worldwide. Transcription factor was seen highly expressed in a variety of tumors and was related to the degree of tumor differentiation, invasion, and metastasis. However, the clinical significance of had yet to be verified, and the mechanism of abnormal expression in ESCC was not clear.

Background: Existing studies of PLK1 in cervical cancer had several flaws. The methods adopted by those studies of detecting PLK1 expression in cervical cancer were single and there lacks comprehensive evaluation of the clinico-pathological significance of PLK1 in cervical cancer.
Methods: A total of 303 cervical tissue samples were collected for in-house tissue microarrays.

This study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological significance and prospective molecular mechanism of RUNX family transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). The authors used immunohistochemistry (IHC), RNA-seq, and microarray data from multi-platforms to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the clinicopathological significance and molecular mechanism of RUNX2 in the occurrence and development of LUSC. RUNX2 expression was significantly higher in 16 LUSC tissues than in paired non-cancerous tissues detected by IHC ( < 0.

Hypersplenism and thrombocytopenia are common complications of liver cirrhosis or thalassemia, but current treatment strategies are limited. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of thalidomide in the treatment of hypersplenism and thrombocytopenia in patients with liver cirrhosis or thalassemia. A total of 31 patients with hepatic cirrhosis (n=19) or thalassemia (n=12) diagnosed with hypersplenism and thrombocytopenia (platelet count [PLT] <100×10/L) were included in this prospective cohort study between January 2015 and May 2017.

Background: The aim of the study was to describe and compare the patterns of medication persistence among patients with unipolar depression (UD) or bipolar depression in a 5-year follow-up, and explore their impact on long-term outcome.
Patients And Methods: A total of 333 eligible patients with current major depressive episode were observed and followed up from the first index prescription for 5 years. Lack of persistence or treatment interruption was defined as a gap of at least 2 consecutive months without taking any medication.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and laboratory outcomes of a group of patients with β-thalassaemia major or intermedia treated with thalidomide.
Methods: Clinical and laboratory data were obtained by analysing medical records of β-thalassaemia patients. Using the self-control method, the levels of haemoglobin (Hb), foetal haemoglobin (HbF), white blood cells (WBC) and platelets were detected before and after the treatment, and adverse reactions were recorded.
