Successful and minimally invasive extraction of a broken distal end of an intramedullary nail is challenging. This study introduces a simple and reproducible technique for the extraction of broken cannulated intramedullary nails using a novel minimally invasive broken nail extractor. Five amputated adult lower-leg specimens were used to create models of the broken distal end of the cannulated intramedullary nails remaining in the medullary cavity of the distal tibia.

Objectives: This study aimed to establish time-resolved fluorescence immunoassays to quantitatively detect the autoantibodies targeting different epitopes of M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) and evaluate its clinical application in primary membranous nephropathy (PMN).
Methods: PLA2R and its reactive epitope-specific IgG/IgG4 time-resolved fluorescence immunoassays (TRFIAs) were established using europium-labeled anti-human IgG/IgG4 antibodies, recombinant proteins, and patient serum. The levels of IgG/IgG4 targeting PLA2R and its epitopes in PMN patient serum were detected, and the relationship between epitope spreading of PLA2R and the severity of patients with PMN was evaluated.

Objective: The relationship between different glycaemic variability (GV) indexes and adverse cardiovascular outcomes is not well understood. This study aims to determine whether GV is related to the occurrence of adverse cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were comprehensively searched from the establishment of databases to 29 June 2022.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease commonly seen in the elderly. On the other hand, cuprotosis is a new copper-dependent type of cell death that can be observed in various diseases. This study aimed to identify potential novel biomarkers of Parkinson's disease by biomarker analysis and to explore immune cell infiltration during the onset of cuprotosis.

Low-grade glioma (LGG) is a highly aggressive disease in the skull. On the other hand, anoikis, a specific form of cell death induced by the loss of cell contact with the extracellular matrix, plays a key role in cancer metastasis. In this study, anoikis-related genes (ANRGs) were used to identify LGG subtypes and to construct a prognostic model for LGG patients.

Background: As a common malignant disease in females, breast cancer (BCa) causes increasing numbers of cancer-related death. Collagen X alpha 1 chain (COL10A1) plays a critical role in the oncogenesis and progression of malignant tumors. However, a systematic analysis of COL10A1 in BCa has not been conducted.

To investigate the clinical significance of Tensin4 (TNS4) in human cancers, particularly lung cancer, we mined the Cancer Genome Atlas database for lung adenocarcinoma (TCGA-LUAD) and the Gene Expression Omnibus database to predict poor prognosis based on the up-regulated expression of TNS4 in LUAD. The correlation between the clinical pathologic features of patients and TNS4 gene expression was analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Cox regression analysis was used to evaluate the association of clinicopathologic characteristics with the overall survival (OS) of cancer patients using TCGA data.

Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), the most common head and neck cancer, is highly aggressive and heterogeneous, resulting in variable prognoses and immunotherapeutic outcomes. Natural killer (NK) cells play essential roles in malignancies' development, diagnosis, and prognosis. The purpose of this study was to establish a reliable signature based on genes related to NK cells (NRGs), thus providing a new perspective for assessing immunotherapy response and prognosis of HNSCC patients.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most important subtype of lung cancer and usually metastasizes. Patients with LUAD usually had a poor prognosis. Identifying viable molecular markers for diagnostic and prognostic prediction among individuals with LUAD is critical for the future management of this disease.

As the most prevalent valvular heart disease, calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) has become a primary cause of aortic valve stenosis and insufficiency. We aim to illustrate the roles of immune related genes (IRGs) and immune cells infiltration in the occurrence of CAVD. Integrative meta-analysis of expression data (INMEX) was adopted to incorporate multiple gene expression datasets of CAVD from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database.

Autoimmune liver diseases mainly include autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and overlap syndrome. Patients with IBD are usually complicated by autoimmune liver diseases. We described a rare case of UC complicated by AIH-PBC-PSC overlap syndrome.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global disease that is harder to treat at a later stage. Therefore, early diagnosis and monitoring of CKD are crucial. T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain molecule 3 (Tim-3) is a negative regulator of the T cell responses and it is involved in the immunomodulation of kidney disease.

With continued advances in cancer research, the crucial role of the tumor microenvironment (TME) in regulating tumor progression and influencing immunotherapy outcomes has been realized over the years. A series of studies devoted to enhancing the response to immunotherapies through exploring efficient predictive biomarkers and new combination approaches. The microfluidic technology not only promoted the development of multi-omics analyses but also enabled the recapitulation of TME microfluidic system, which made these devices attractive across studies for optimization of immunotherapy.

The respiratory tract is known to harbor a microbial community including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. New techniques contribute enormously to the identification of unknown or culture-independent species and reveal the interaction of the community with the host immune system. The existing respiratory microbiome and substantial equilibrium of the transplanted microbiome from donor lung grafts provide an extreme bloom of dynamic changes in the microenvironment in lung transplantation (LT) recipients.

The transcription factor zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) is a critical inducer of epithelial mesenchymal transformation (EMT) and plays a robust role in tumor metastasis. It can promote not only the movement and diffusion of tumor cells but also cell stemness, treatment resistance, tumor metastasis and immune escape. The expression of ZEB1 is strictly regulated by a variety of pretranscriptional and posttranscriptional signaling pathways and molecules.

Background And Aim: Considering the limitation of varying acid suppression of proton pump inhibitors, this study was aimed to assess the efficacy, safety, and dose-effect relationship of keverprazan, a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker, in the treatment of duodenal ulcer (DU) compared with lansoprazole.
Methods: A randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, multicenter, low-dose, high-dose, and positive-drug parallel-controlled study was conducted to verify the non-inferiority of keverprazan (20 or 30 mg) to lansoprazole of 30 mg once daily for 4 to 6 weeks and dose-effect relationship of keverprazan in the treatment of patients with active DU confirmed by endoscopy.
Results: Of the 180 subjects randomized, including 55 cases in the keverprazan_20 mg group, 61 cases in the keverprazan_30 mg group, and 64 cases in the lansoprazole_30 mg group, 168 subjects (93.

Colorectal cancer is a major health problem, and it is the third most diagnosed cancer in the United States. The current treatment for colorectal cancer includes irinotecan, a topoisomerase I inhibitor, and other targeted drugs, such as bevacizumab and regorafenib. The low response rates and incidence of high toxicity caused by these drugs instigated an evaluation of the anticancer efficacy of a series of 13 thiazolyl hydrazone derivatives of 1-indanone, and four compounds among them show favorable anticancer activity against some of the tested colorectal cancer cell lines with IC values ranging from 0.
