Heterogeneous catalysis at the metal surface generally involves the transport of molecules through the interfacial water layer to access the surface, which is a rate-determining step at the nanoscale. In this study, taking the oxygen reduction reaction on a metal electrode in aqueous solution as an example, using accurate molecular dynamic simulations, we propose a novel long-range regulation strategy in which midinfrared stimulation (MIRS) with a frequency of approximately 1,000 cm is applied to nonthermally induce the structural transition of interfacial water from an ordered to disordered state, facilitating the access of oxygen molecules to metal surfaces at room temperature and increasing the oxygen reduction activity 50-fold. Impressively, the theoretical prediction is confirmed by the experimental observation of a significant discharge voltage increase in zinc-air batteries under MIRS.

-Iodosuccinimide-promoted cascade reactions of arylidene isoxazolones with amidines in -xylene were accomplished, affording 5-acylimidazoles in good to excellent yields. Interestingly, when the reactions were performed by employing acetonitrile as the solvent, 4-acylimidazoles were efficiently obtained. Mechanistic studies indicate that the formation of imidazolyl and acyl moieties may undergo a spiroannulation-ring opening aromatization-hydrolysis cascade reaction sequence.

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a prevalent and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with a complex etiology. NOP2/Sun domain 2 (NSUN2) is an RNA methyltransferase that has been linked to the regulation of gene expression in various cancers. However, the function of NSUN2 in DLBCL, specifically its contribution to exosome-driven tumor progression, remains to be thoroughly elucidated.

A pivotal pathway of photodynamic therapy (PDT) is to prompt mitochondrial damage by reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, thus leading to cancer cell apoptosis. However, mitochondrial autophagy is induced during such a PDT process, which is a protective mechanism for cancer cell homeostasis, resulting in undermined therapeutic efficacy. Herein, we report a series of meticulously designed donor (D)-π-acceptor (A) photosensitizers (PSs), characterized by the strategic modulation of thiophene π-bridges, which exhibit unparalleled mitochondrial targeting proficiency.

Exploring suitable dual active site and metal-substrate interface effect is essential for designing efficient and robust electrocatalysts across a wide pH range for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, alloyed platinum-ruthenium clusters supported on nanosheet-assembled molybdenum carbide microflowers (PtRu/MoC) are reported as efficient pH-universal electrocatalysts for HER. Due to dual active site and metal-substrate interface effect, the optimized PtRu/MoC electrocatalyst exhibits extremely low overpotentials (η) of 9, 19, and 33 mV to deliver 10 mA cm in 0.

Background: In this study, we explored changes to female medical staff's health status under the influence of care guilt in the process of balancing work and family care responsibilities. The mediating role of time pressure within this nexus was examined, and an ideal concept derived from the Confucian cultural context, "Zhong-yong," was investigated as a moderator of the impact of care guilt on health status.
Method: A questionnaire survey of 407 full-time female medical staff with family care needs, recruited using convenience sampling from eight hospitals in China, was conducted.

The study involves the modification of a non-conventional starch isolated from the under-utilized variety of Chinese water chestnut (CWC (Eleocharis tuberosa) and integrating it to fabricate stabilized and curcumin-enriched Pickering emulsions with enhanced bioavailability, thermal stability, and retention of encapsulated curcumin. A time-efficient, semi-dried esterification method was used to prepare modified amphiphilic starches using 3, 6, or 9 % (w/v) octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) and characterized through degree of substitution (DS), contact angle, particle size, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and in-vitro digestibility. Moreover, Pickering emulsions were formulated using CWCS-OSA at 3 %, 6 %, or 9 % concentrations to serve as a carrier for curcumin to improve its water solubility and storage stability.

The current study has revealed a unique sexual selection pattern in , a species renowned for its ultrasonic communication, which differs from the patterns observed in other anuran taxa. Typically, females listen to male vocalizations and exhibit phonotaxis towards preferred traits for mate selection. In contrast, female do not actively approach displaying males for mate selection; instead, they use courtship calls to attract potential mates and incite male competition for access to them.

Currently, the study of cuproptosis focuses on the Cu-induced morphology changes in mitochondria (Mito), and the observation of the effect of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-related Cu content on cuproptosis is relatively lacking. Herein, we have developed a hydroxyflavone (HF)-based NIR excited two-photon fluorescent probe, BHCO, that exhibits specific recognition of Cu with high resolution. BHCO-Cu (Cu2BC) can lead to DLAT protein aggregation, triggering cuproptosis.

The space charge effect induced by high-quality heterojunctions is essential for efficient electrocatalytic processes. Herein, we delicately manipulate intermolecular charge transfer by modifying substituents (-g=-CH, -H, -NO) with various electron donating/withdrawing capabilities in CoPc-g/CoS organic-inorganic heterostructures. CoPc-CH, as a typical electron donor, transfers more electrons to CoS due to the presence of -CH, forming the strongest space electric field and thus regulating the dual active sites at the interface.

Background: The progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) affects the patient's kidney glomeruli and tubules, whose normal functioning is essential for maintaining normal calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) metabolism in the body. The risk of developing osteoporosis (OP) in patients with DKD increases with the aggravation of the disease, including a higher risk of fractures, which not only affects the quality of life of patients but also increases the risk of death.
Aim: To analyze the risk factors for the development of OP in patients with DKD and their correlation with Ca-P metabolic indices, fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), and Klotho.

Whey proteins have anti-fatigue activity, but there are few studies that have reported the ameliorative effects of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) oligopeptides from whey proteins on fatigue in mice. The purposes of this study were to establish a process for the preparation of BCAA oligopeptides from whey protein and to investigate the anti-fatigue activity of BCAA oligopeptides. Whey proteins were hydrolyzed by trypsin and flavourzyme and purified by ethanol precipitation and reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC).

Specifically, three IPOCs with [2+4] lantern-like structures and one with a [3+6] triangular prism structure were successfully prepared through condensation reactions between tetraformyl-functionalized calix[4]arene and bis(o-phenylenediamine) monomers in a single pot. Notably, these IPOCs exhibit high porosity, with Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas reaching up to 1162 m g.

The identification of ClO and iron ions in water medium is a difficult task and has been one of the hot issues in analytical chemistry. For this objective, we synthesized carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) through a solvothermal reaction between 1, 3, 5-trimesic acid and o-phenylenediamine, which served as a sequential fluorescent probe for ClO and Fe ions. The obtained CNPs were spherical particles with a diameter of 26.
