In this study, spherical α-FeO prepared by the hydrothermal method was used as a template for the first time; LaFeO perovskite catalysts were successfully synthesized by the molten salt method (M-LF-), sol-gel method (S-LF-), and co-precipitation method (C-LF-), respectively. To determine the optimal synthesis method, X-ray diffraction patterns were obtained and showed that single phase LaFeO with good crystallinity was prepared by the molten salt method after calcination at 600 °C for 4 h. SEM and TEM images showed that the M-LF-600 catalyst preserved the spherical structure of α-FeO template.

Direct interaction between carbon dots (CDs) and biomolecules leads to changes in the chemical and physical status as well as properties of CDs, which can have various biological and biomedical applications. In this work, the surface of CDs was modified with cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) to facilitate interactions between CDs and biomolecules. Multiple fluorescence response behaviours of CPC-based CDs were observed towards several proteins (bovine serum albumin, lysozyme, protamine, and hemoglobin) and bacterial cells ( and ).

A highly efficient regio- and stereoselective Heck-Matsuda method was developed employing aryl diazoniums and allylsulfonyl fluorides for the construction of a class of novel γ-aryl allylsulfonyl fluorides in the presence of Pd(OAc) and PPh. The method features excellent regio- and stereoselectivity (up to 100% -selectivity), broad substrate scope and mild reaction conditions. Further application of γ-aryl allylsulfonyl fluoride in SuFEx reactions was achieved to provide their corresponding sulfonates and sulfonamides in excellent yields.

Directed transfer of carriers, akin to excited charges in photosynthesis, in semiconductors by structural design is challenging. Here, TiO nanosheets with interlayered sp carbon and titanium vacancies are obtained by low-temperature controlled oxidation calcination. The directed transfer of carriers from the excited position to Ti-vacancies to interlayered carbon is investigated and proven to greatly increase the charge transport efficiency.

Vanadium nitride is widely used because of its excellent properties. The existing production methods are affected by the problems of complex preparation for the vanadium source, high temperature, and low N content. In this work, a wide range of vanadium solutions were used as the vanadium source to prepare vanadium nitride with high N content.

Calcium carbonate (CaCO) and montmorillonite (MMT) with particle size that varied from nanometer to micron were selected as reinforcement particles. The effect of inorganic particle type and size on the crystallization, mechanical properties, and cellular structure of the parts were investigated.

Silk fibroin is a promising biomaterial that has been used for tissue engineering applications. However, the influence of silk fibroin on the mineralization of calcium phosphate in different biological environments has not been discussed before. In this work, we fabricated organized silk fibroin film as the organic framework and amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) deposited on the films as precursors.

We synthesized two series of bimetallic (zinc and cobalt) zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-62) under different solvothermal conditions. It is found that the structure of the derived ZIF crystals is highly sensitive to synthesis conditions. One series possesses the standard ZIF-62 structure, whereas the other has a mixed structure composed of both the standard structure and an unknown one.

NiO combined with conductive materials is a practicable way to improve its catalytic property for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) by enhancing its electrical conductivity. Herein, Ni@NiO@graphite nanoparticles less than 20 nm in average diameter were synthesized by a one-step chemical vapor deposition process. Due to the deliberately controlled lack of oxygen, Ni particles and carbon clusters decomposed from NiCp precursors were oxidized incompletely and formed Ni@NiO core-shell nanoparticles coated by a graphite layer.

In order to develop a liquid oxygen-compatible (LOX-compatible) matrix resins for polymer-based fiber-reinforced composites, a novel phosphorus-containing imidazole derivative called VAD containing multifunctional groups was synthesized and used as a co-curing agent for epoxy resin (EP) with simultaneous LOX-compatibility and mechanical improvement. A phosphorus group was introduced into the EP to capture the free radicals generated during the pyrolysis of the polymer to improve LOX compatibility, and the trimethylene group was introduced as a flexible spacer to enhance the toughness of the cured material. In comparison to pure EP, the modified EP with only 2.

CsOH·HO-catalyzed formal [3 + 3] cycloadditions of allenyl imide with β-ketoesters, 1,3-diketones or β-ketonitriles for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted 2-pyrone derivatives have been demonstrated. The allenyl imide was utilized as a C3-synthon, and a ketenyl intermediate was proposed the process of 1,4-addition of carbon anion to allene followed by elimination of the 2-oxazolidinyl group.

As a representative, CsPbIBr is attracting considerable attention as it can balance the high efficiency of CsPbI and the stability of CsPbBr. However, most research employs doped charge transport materials or applies bilayer transport layers to obtain decent performance, which vastly complicates the fabrication process and scarcely satisfies the commercial production requirement.

Current piezoelectric device systems need a significant reduction in size and weight so that electronic modules of increasing capacity and functionality can be incorporated into a great range of applications, particularly in energy device platforms. The key question for most applications is whether they can compete in the race of down-scaling and an easy integration with highly adaptable properties into various system technologies such as nano-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS). Piezoelectric NEMS have potential to offer access to a parameter space for sensing, actuating, and powering, which is inflential and intriguing.

High energy density lithium metal batteries (LMBs) are promising next-generation energy storage devices. However, the uncontrollable dendrite growth and huge volume change limit their practical applications. Here, a new Mg doped Li-LiB alloy with in situ formed lithiophilic 3D LiB skeleton (hereinafter called Li-B-Mg composite) is presented to suppress Li dendrite and mitigate volume change.

A tannin-based hybrid coating was coated on the PVDF membrane surface through a simple one-step co-deposition of tannin and KH550. A micro/nano hierarchical structure was formed on the PVDF membrane surface through hydrolysis/condensation of KH550 and Michael addition reaction between oxidized tannin and an amino group revealed by the field-emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, which established a harsh surface. Abundant hydrophilic groups and high surface roughness endowed the modified membranes with high hydrophilicity and underwater superoleophobicity.
