Pancreatic cancer is characterized by severe metabolic stress due to its prominent desmoplasia and poor vascularization. Integrin subunit alpha 3 (ITGA3) is a cell surface adhesion protein involved in tumor progression. However, the role of ITGA3 in pancreatic cancer progression, especially in metabolic reprogramming, remains largely unknown.

Strong self-association of chitosan microgels at interface mediated high stabilities in Pickering emulsion.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, North University of China, NO. 3 Xueyuan Road, Jiancaoping District, Taiyuan 030051, China. Electronic address:

The spontaneous self-organization of naturally-occurring polysaccharide particles into a thick and robust gel network at interface in Pickering emulsion is challenging. Inspired by the phenomenon that chitosan microgels (CSMs) with a certain size could self-associate into a solidified gel phase upon freezing, here we tentatively used CSMs to construct a highly-stable Pickering emulsion. CSMs can form a stable Langmuir's layer at the water/oil interface through the network deformation and re-arrangement of dangling chains, while the subsequent negative polymer coating can avoid the bridging resulting from the cross-association for CSMs on different emulsion droplets upon freezing.

Electronic address:

Immunotherapy has improved the survival rate of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), but less than 20 % of them have a durable response to these treatments. Excessive local recurrence and lymph node metastasis ultimately lead to death, making the 5-year survival rate of HNSCC still not optimistic. Cell metabolism has become a key determinant of the viability and function of cancer cells and immune cells.

Ni organic complexes are widely used in industrial production, posing severe threats to the natural environment and human health. In this work, we found that Ni (0) formed by the decomplexation and reduction of typical Ni organic complexes (Ni-EDTA) on the surface of carbon felt cathode. The formed Ni(0) as a catalytic site generates atomic hydrogen (H•) with strong reductive reactivity via electron transfer.

A ratiometric fluorescence-photothermal dual-mode assay method is constructed for the detection of butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) activity based on time-resolved levodopa (L-DOPA) cascade polymerization. First, a newly designed bimetallic metal-organic framework (MOF), Eu/Co-DPA (DPA: pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), is screened out as a fluorescent nanozyme with high catalytic activity and superior luminescence properties. In the presence of boric acid (BA), L-DOPA forms BA-esterified L-DOPA, which is catalyzed by Eu/Co-DPA to form the oligomers with strong blue fluorescence.

December 2024

The State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Basic Science of Stomatology & Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Medical Research Institute, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China.

In contrast to mammalian cells, bacterial cells lack mRNA polyadenylated tails, presenting a hurdle in isolating mRNA amidst the prevalent rRNA during single-cell RNA-seq. This study introduces a novel method, ribosomal RNA-derived cDNA depletion (RiboD), seamlessly integrated into the PETRI-seq technique, yielding RiboD-PETRI. This innovative approach offers a cost-effective, equipment-free, and high-throughput solution for bacterial single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq).

Background: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is defined as spontaneous pain in the region of the trigeminal nerve that seriously affects a patient's quality of life. Percutaneous balloon compression of the trigeminal ganglion is a simple and reproducible surgical procedure that reduces the incidence of TN, but the postoperative outcome is poor in some patients, with it being ineffective or TN recurring.

Objectives: To establish a machine learning-based clinical imaging nomogram to predict the recurrence of trigeminal neuralgia in patients treated with percutaneous balloon compression.

While there is extensive research on the environmental impacts of renewable energy sources, a notable gap remains in understanding the specific environmental effects of geothermal energy. This knowledge shortfall is particularly critical for Indonesia, which holds the world's second-largest geothermal potential but has yet to effectively harness these valuable resources. This study aims to address this gap by providing a preliminary evaluation of the dynamic impact of geothermal energy consumption and various macroeconomic variables on carbon dioxide (CO) emissions in Indonesia from 1995 to 2020.

Under heavy load conditions, bearings are subjected to non-uniform and frequently changing loads, which leads to randomness in the spatial distribution of bearing degradation characteristics. Aiming at the problem that the traditional degradation index cannot accurately reflect the degradation state of heavy-duty bearings in the whole life cycle, a new degradation evaluation method based on multi-domain features is proposed in this paper, which aims to capture the early degradation point of heavy-duty bearings and characterize their degradation trend. Firstly, the energy entropy feature is obtained by improving the wavelet packet decomposition, and the original multi-domain feature set is constructed by combining the time domain and frequency domain features.

Dual-Port Six-Band Rectenna with Enhanced Power Conversion Efficiency at Ultra-Low Input Power.

Sensors (Basel)

November 2024

College of Electronics and Information Engineering, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen 518060, China.

In this paper, a novel topology and method for designing a multi-band rectenna is proposed to improve its RF-DC efficiency. The rectifier achieves simultaneous rectification using both series and parallel configurations by connecting two branches to the respective terminals of the diode, directing the energy input from two ports to the anode and cathode of the diode. Six desired operating frequency bands are evenly distributed across these two branches, each of which is connected to antennas corresponding to their specific operating frequencies, serving as the receiving end of the system.
