Colitis, accompanied by the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the intestinal tract, is a risk factor for colorectal cancer (CRC). Our previous studies indicate that nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) replenishment reduces chronic inflammation. In this study, we confirm that NMN supplementation reduces inflammatory cytokine levels and oxidative tissue damage in an azoxymethane/dextran sulfate sodium (AOM/DSS)-induced colitis-associated cancer (CAC) model.

Waste tobacco stalk is blended with graphite carbon to form a composite carbon source, which is a promising external heating system for heat-not-burn tobaccos. In the current work, the effects of tobacco stalk amounts and the catalyst KCO on the co-combustion characteristics (, the ignition temperature, burnout temperature, ) of graphite carbon were investigated. As a result, the ignition temperatures of the blend were determined by the tobacco straw, while the burnout temperature of the samples was reduced by approximately 60 °C due to the addition of a tobacco stalk.

Polyimide aerogels (PIAs) not only possess excellent thermodynamic properties but also have a high porosity structure, making them an exceptional protective and thermal insulation material, and further broadening their application scope in aerospace and other cutting-edge fields. In this work, a series of anisotropic polyimide aerogels (3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (S-BPDA), -phenylenediamine (PDA), 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA)) with excellent properties were prepared. These PIAs were obtained by unidirectional freeze-drying and thermal amination of two different precursor solutions mixed in proportion.

Recently, researchers have been paying much attention to zero-valent iron (ZVI) in the field of pollution remediation. However, the depressed electron transport from the iron reservoir to the iron oxide shell limited the wide application of ZVI. This study was aimed at promoting the performance of microscale ZVI (mZVI) for hexavalent chromium (Cr(vi)) removal by accelerating iron cycle with the addition of boron powder.

Selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing technology with different oxygen contents leads to the appearance of spherical solids of different sizes on the surface of the part, which affects the mechanical properties of the part, surface roughness, In this study, the SLM molding technique was applied using three different 316L metal powders with different oxygen contents. The spheroidization properties and morphology of the samples were observed using a Quanta 200 environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM), and the samples were observed microscopically and subjected to EDX spectroscopy using metallographic microscopy, and the mechanical properties were investigated. The results of the study showed that when using gas atomized powders, no spheroidization occurred when the oxygen content of the powders was 5.

Based on the influence of a filamentous laser Gaussian heat source and its movement speed on Polymeric Methyl Methacrylate materials (PMMA sheets), the physical model of heat transfer of PMMA materials by CO continuous laser ablation was established. Numerical simulation research on heat transfer in CO continuous laser processing of PMMA sheets was carried out by applying the heat transfer model, and experiments on continuous laser processing of PMMA sheets were conducted on the basis of the numerical simulation results. Theoretical and experimental research indicated that under relevant conditions, when the laser power was 20 W, the maximum surface temperature of PMMA sheet was approximately 520 K, which was higher than the melting temperature of the PMMA material, achieving the transformation of the PMMA material from solid to liquid phase in the laser ablation area.

Human telomere sequences (TTAGGG) fold into G-quadruplexes with different conformations in K and Na solutions, which are highlighted for their potential as antitumor drug targets. Moreover, human multimeric G-quadruplexes have been broadly studied potentially for screening ligands with higher selectivity than monomeric G-quadruplexes. Most insects have telomeres consisting of pentanucleotide (TTAGG) repeats, which fold into an antiparallel structured G-quadruplex with a two-layer G-planar in a K solution.

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have been extensively investigated as promising peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activators for the degradation of organic pollutants. However, bulk LDHs synthesized using conventional methods possess a closely stacked layered structure, which seriously blocks active sites and yields low intrinsic activity. In this study, we exfoliated bulk CoAl-LDHs to fabricate CoAl-LDH nanosheets by alkali-etching and Ostwald ripening a simple hydrothermal process in a KOH solution.
