Systematic review and meta-analysis of the prognostic significance of microRNAs in cervical cancer.

In this meta-analysis, we analyzed case-control studies that assessed the prognostic potential of miRNAs in cervical cancer. We comprehensively searched EMBASE and PubMed databases and enrolled seven studies with 445 cervical cancer cases. A fixed effects model was used to calculate pooled hazard ratios (HRs) and associated 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) from the overall survival (OS) data.

The protective effects of distal ischemic treatment on apoptosis and mitochondrial permeability in the hippocampus after cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction are the main cause of neurological injury after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). However, the effects of distal ischemic treatments on ischemia induced apoptosis are rarely studied, and the mechanism by which mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to CPR still unclear. A rat model of distal ischemia was established by clipping the right femoral artery.

More than 80% of patients with MM is present as intact monoclonal immunoglobulin (Ig). Usually, the patients with intact immunoglobulin MM (IIMM) show parallel fluctuations of their intact Ig and FLCs or BJP. In the era of novel agents, including thalidomide, lenalidomide and bortezomib, the natural disease development and classic relapse patterns have been changed, the relapse was characterized by an increase in sFLC or BJP without a corresponding increase in paraprotein level, a phenomenon termed "light chain escape", indicates a worse outcome in patients with MM.

Analysis of miRNA expression profiling in human umbilical vein endothelial cells affected by heat stress.

To investigate the regulation of endothelial cell (EC) microRNAs (miRNAs) altered by heat stress, miRNA microarrays and bioinformatics methods were used to determine changes in miRNA profiles and the pathophysiological characteristics of differentially expressed miRNAs. A total of 31 differentially expressed miRNAs were identified, including 20 downregulated and 11 upregulated miRNAs. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis revealed that the validated targets of the differentially expressed miRNAs were significantly enriched in gene transcription regulation.

Hypertonic saline infusion suppresses apoptosis of hippocampal cells in a rat model of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Hypertonic saline (HS) attenuates cerebral edema, improves microcirculation perfusion and alleviates inflammation. However, whether the beneficial effect of HS on neurological function after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in rat model of asphyxial cardiac arrest (CA) is mediated via attenuating apoptosis of neurons is not known. We studied the neuroprotective effect of HS in rats after CA and CPR, and explored the likely underlying mechanisms.
