Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) causes inflammatory cholestasis in sepsis. We investigated the role of PDZK1 in the repression of ABC transporters in LPS-induced cholestasis. Lentiviral gene transfer of PDZK1 to rats was conducted to explore its influence on cholestasis induced by LPS.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease mainly characterized by cognitive impairment. Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3β) is a potential therapeutic target against AD. Isoorientin (ISO), a GSK3β substrate competitive inhibitor, plays anti-AD effects in in vitro and in vivo AD model.

The effects of social networks on HIV risk behaviors among Vietnamese female sex workers: a qualitative study.

Introduction: Female sex workers (FSWs) experience heightened vulnerability to HIV and other health harms, and cross-border FSWs face additional challenges due to language issues, higher mobility, and weaker negotiation skills. Given the critical role of social network factors in HIV transmission, it is imperative to explore the social network characteristics of Vietnamese cross-border FSWs in China to enhance AIDS prevention and control.

Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews with 22 Vietnamese FSWs in Hekou County, Yunnan Province from May to July 2018.

Background: Despite the relationship between Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and depressive symptoms, which has been well researched in general populations, little is known about homosexual and bisexual populations, especially lesbian and bisexual women in China. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of ACEs and depressive symptoms and to analyze the relationship between them among lesbian and bisexual women in China.

Methods: The eligible participants were aged 16 years or older who report their sexual orientation as homosexual or bisexual.

Effect of macrophage polarization on parasitic protection against type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by the destruction of pancreatic beta cells. Based on the hygiene hypothesis, a growing body of evidence suggests a negative association between parasitic infections and diabetes in humans and animal models. The mechanism of parasite-mediated prevention of type 1 diabetes mellitus may be related to the adaptive and innate immune systems.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) are typical emerging persistent organic pollutants that are raising concerns regarding their environmental persistence. The photodegradation of these chemicals in water can be promoted by generating hydrated electrons (e). The present work demonstrates a highly efficient process combining ultraviolet (UV) radiation, hydrochar (H-BC) and KI that is capable of decomposing PFOA and PFOS.

A Confounding Discourse Analysis of Vietnamese Sex Workers' Talk in the City of Kaiyuan, China.

VR-Based Innovation of the Ideological and Political Teaching Mode in Colleges.

The current ideological and political (IAP) teaching has some disadvantages, such as emphasizing theoretical form over practical teaching, students' differences in personality and cognition, and lack of interaction between teachers and students. Therefore, this paper first analyzes IAP teaching based on VR communication and summarizes the disadvantages of current IAP teaching and the application advantages of VR technology. Based on the principles of interactivity, practicality, and richness, the IAP teaching system is constructed based on the double-center teaching mode, and the teaching content are designed.

Mental health status of medical staff in Xinjiang Province of China based on the normalisation of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.

Introduction: The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has burdened and threatened the psychological health of people around the world, especially those of front-line medical staff. This study aimed to explore the mental-health status and its associated factors amongst the medical workforce of Xinjiang province under the normalisation of the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.

Methods: A total of 408 medical staff were recruited from February 20 to March 10, 2021.

Maternal Vit D supplementation in AMA mice and the role of Vit D/VDR signaling in the offspring's cognition.

Objective: To explore the molecular mechanism underlying the effect of maternal vitamin D (Vit D) supplementation before pregnancy in advanced maternal age (AMA) mice on the offspring's cognitive function.

Methods: Thirty-two-week-old female mice either received 10 IU/g body weight vitamin D dissolved in 200 μl corn oil (32W+VD group), or 200 μl corn oil (32W group) per day for one week. Another group of eight-week-old female mice received the same amount of corn oil as 32W group was set as normal reproductive age control (8W group).

The effect of regulatory T cells in Schistosoma-mediated protection against type 2 diabetes.

In western societies, the prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is related to the hygiene hypothesis, which implies that reduced exposure to infectious factors results in a loss of the immune stimulation necessary to form the immune system during development. In fact, it has been reported that parasites, such as Schistosoma, can improve or prevent the development of T2D, which may be related to the activity of immune cells, including regulatory T cells (Tregs). Hence, Schistosoma, Tregs, and T2D share a close relationship.
