Background: eHealth literacy is an essential skill for pursuing electronic health information, particularly for older people whose health needs increase with age. South Korea is now at the intersection of a rapidly digitalizing society and an increasingly aged population. eHealth literacy enables older people to maximize the effective use of emerging digital technology for their health and quality of life.

Purpose: End-tidal CO is used to monitor the ventilation status or hemodynamic efficacy during mechanical ventilation or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and it may be affected by various factors including sodium bicarbonate administration. This study investigated changes in end-tidal CO2 after sodium bicarbonate administration.

Materials And Methods: This single-center, prospective observational study included adult patients who received sodium bicarbonate during mechanical ventilation or CPR.

Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is not common in osteogenesis imperfecta patients but may result in serious complications if not properly treated in due time. We present three types of FNF in osteogenesis imperfecta and their characteristics, treatment methods and outcomes. Cases of FNF followed for more than 2 years were selected from the osteogenesis imperfecta database.

People of developing countries especially from rural area are commonly exposed to high levels of household pollution for 3-7 h daily using biomass in their kitchen. Such biomass produces harmful smoke and makes indoor air pollution (IAP). Community-based cross-sectional study was performed to identify effects of IAP by simplified measurement approach in Sunsari District of Nepal.

Factors affecting unmet healthcare needs of older people in Korea.

Background: Despite the fact that the National Health Insurance programmes have ensured universal coverage for Koreans, disparities in access to health care and unmet healthcare needs still exist in Korea.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to analyse factors affecting unmet healthcare needs of older people in Korea.

Methods: This study had a cross-sectional, descriptive design using secondary data taken from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey conducted in 2007-2009.

Despite remarkable progress in understanding and treating gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) during the past two decades, the pathological characteristics of GISTs have not been made clear yet. Furthermore, concrete diagnostic criteria of malignant GISTs are still uncertain. We collected pathology reports of 1,227 GISTs from 38 hospitals in Korea between 2003 and 2004 and evaluated the efficacy of the NIH and AFIP classification schemes as well as the prognostic factors among pathologic findings.

The DNA-interactive drug, echinomycin, is a potent antitumor agent, which is able to induce apoptosis in a multitude of cancer cell lines. Previously, we showed that echinomycin strongly inhibited the growth of a variety of cancer cell lines, and the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) in human colon cancer cells (HT-29). However, little information currently exists regarding the details of intracellular signaling pathways such as the MAPK, mitochondrial, and caspase pathways.

Relationship between the intention to repeat a papanicolaou smear test and affective response to a previous test among Korean women.

The purposes of this descriptive cross-sectional study were to describe (1). women's affective (emotional) responses before, during, and after a Papanicolaou smear test and after receiving the test result and (2.) the difference in affective response between women who did or did not intend to repeat the Papanicolaou smear test in the future.
