Introduction: Abnormal placental cord insertions (APCIs) are significant risk factors for pregnancy complications, encompassing marginal cord insertion (MCI), velamentous cord insertion (VCI), and vasa previa (VP). While ultrasound is the primary imaging modality, its accuracy can be limited by factors such as maternal obesity and fetal positioning. Complementary to ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers a more precise visualization of the fetus, placenta, and umbilical cord relationships.

Adenoviral infections, particularly in children, remain a significant public health issue with no approved targeted treatments. Artemisinin and its derivatives, well-known for their use in malaria treatment, have shown antiviral activities in recent studies. However, their efficacy against human adenovirus (HAdV) remains unexplored.

Background: Lidocaine/prilocaine (EMLA) cream is a local anesthetic that is applied to the skin or mucosa during painful therapeutic procedures with few reported side effects.
Case Summary: Here, we report the use of dermatoscopy to identify a case of erythema with purpura, a rare side effect, after the application of 5% EMLA cream.
Conclusion: We conclude that erythema with purpura is caused by irritation and toxicity associated with EMLA, but the specific mechanism by which the toxic substance affects skin blood vessels is unclear.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common pathological type of thyroid cancer (THCA) and shows a better prognosis than other types. However, further research is needed to determine the risk of PTC. We herein used the CIBERSORT algorithm to analyze the gene-expression profile obtained from TCGA, estimated the infiltration ratio of 22 immune cell types in tumor tissues and normal tissues, analyzed the differential expression of immune-related genes, and identified immune cells and immune-related genes related to clinical progress and prognosis.

Background: Ocular neovascular diseases, which contribute significantly to vision loss, lack effective preventive treatments. Recent studies have highlighted the significant involvement of immune cells in neovascular retinopathy. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) promote the development of neovascularization, but it is unknown whether they participate in pathological neovascularization and whether they are expected to be a therapeutic target.

Background: Observational research suggests that hypotension is a potential hazard factor of delirium. Nevertheless, previous observational articles are limited in their ability to establish causality between hypotension and delirium. The present study was sought to explore the genetic causal relationship between these two conditions using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR).

Objective: The aim of the study was to explore the optimal timing of gonadotropin initiation and the reasonable interval of luteinizing hormone (LH) levels in the gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-A) protocol.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze the data concerning the oocyte retrieval cycles from 1,361 cases with the GnRH-A protocol implemented. The ovarian responses (including AMH, AFC) in these patients were divided into the poor ovarian response group (an antral follicle count [AFC] ≤ 6, n = 394), the normal ovarian response group (an AFC > 6 and < 15, n = 570), and the high ovarian response group (an AFC ≥ 15, n = 397), according to the AFC.

In the past three decades, dietary and lifestyle changes worldwide have resulted in a global increase in the prevalence of obesity in both adults and children. Known to be highly influenced by genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors, obesity is characterized by a low-grade chronic inflammation that contributes to the development of other metabolic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Recently, the gut microbiome has been added as a cause/contributor to the development of obesity.

Introduction: Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) are a group of genetically heterogeneous disorders with a wide-ranging clinical phenotype, varying from increased predisposition to infections to dysregulation of the immune system, including autoimmune phenomena, autoinflammatory disorders, lymphoproliferation, and malignancy. Lymphoproliferative disorder (LPD) in IEI refers to the nodal or extra-nodal and persistent or recurrent clonal or non-clonal proliferation of lymphoid cells in the clinical context of an inherited immunodeficiency or immune dysregulation. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) plays a significant role in the etiopathogenesis of LPD in IEIs.

Background: Accumulating evidence has linked dyslipidemia during pregnancy to the risk of delivering infants born either large for gestational age (LGA) or small for gestational age (SGA). However, the effects of the vitamin D status on these relationships require further investigation. This study investigated whether the relationship between lipid profiles and the risk of LGA or SGA was influenced by vitamin D levels during the second trimester.

Recent technological strides, including high-frequency probes and lung ultrasound, have become a crucial non-invasive diagnostic tool in neonatal care, revolutionizing how respiratory conditions are assessed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). High-frequency probes and portable devices significantly enhance the effectiveness of lung ultrasound in identifying respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), pneumonia, and pneumothorax, and underscore its growing significance. This comprehensive review explores the historical journey of lung ultrasonography, technological advancements, contemporary applications in neonatal care, emerging trends, and collaborative initiatives, and foresees a future where personalized healthcare optimizes outcomes for neonates.

Virus receptors determine the tissue tropism of viruses and have a certain relationship with the clinical outcomes caused by viral infection, which is of great importance for the identification of virus receptors to understand the infection mechanism of viruses and to develop entry inhibitor. Proximity labeling (PL) is a new technique for studying protein-protein interactions, but it has not yet been applied to the identification of virus receptors or co-receptors. Here, we attempt to identify co-receptor of SARS-CoV-2 by employing TurboID-catalyzed PL.

Objective: The aim is to evaluate the global, regional, and national trends in the burden of children and adolescents under 14 from 1990 to 2019, as well as future trend predictions.
Methods: In Global Burden of Disease (GBD), we reported the incidence, prevalence rate and the years lived with disability (YLDs), the incidence per 100,000 people, and the average annual percentage change (AAPC). We further analyzed these global trends by age, gender, and social development index (SDI).
