Prevalence and factors associated with hepatitis C among pregnant women in China: a cross-sectional study.

Pregnant women infected with HCV should be given attention due to their special physiological stage and the effect on offspring health. To examine the prevalence of HCV infection among pregnant women in part of China and explore relevant factors during pregnancy, a cross-sectional study was conducted in four maternal and children health care institutions (MCHC) in Guangdong, Hunan and Chongqing. Pregnant women who were delivered, induced or spontaneous abortion were included and relevant information was collected through the Hospital Information System.

Enterovirus B types cause severe infection in infants aged 0-3 months.

Background: Enterovirus (EV) infections are being increasingly seen in younger infants, often being more severe than in older children. The risk factors of EV infection in infants have been inadequately investigated till date.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on hospitalized children with laboratory-confirmed EV infection (50 infants aged 0-3 months and 65 older than 3 months) at a tertiary care center in China.

Introduction: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic condition associated with multiple complications that substantially affect both the quality of life and the life-span of children. Untargeted Metabolomics has provided new insights into disease pathogenesis and risk assessment.

Methods: In this study, we characterized the serum metabolic profiles of 76 children with T1D and 65 gender- and age- matched healthy controls using gas chromatography coupled with timeof-flight mass spectrometry.

We aim to explore the link between maternal weekly temperature exposure and CHD in offspring and identify the relative contributions from heat and cold and from moderate and extreme atmospheric temperature. From January 2019 to December 2020, newborns who were diagnosed with CHD by echocardiography in the Network Platform for Congenital Heart Disease (NPCHD) from 11 cities in eastern China were enrolled in the present study. We appraised the exposure lag response relationship between temperature and CHDs in the distributed lag nonlinear model and further probed the pooled estimates by multivariate meta-analysis.

Association of plasma cystatin C with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among middle-aged and elderly individuals: a prospective community-based cohort study.

We investigated the associations of plasma cystatin C with all-cause and cause-specific mortality risk and identified potential modifying factors affecting these associations in middle-aged and elderly people (≥ 50 years). This community-based prospective cohort study included 13,913 individuals aged ≥ 50 years from the Health and Retirement Study. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate the associations between cystatin C concentrations and the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular and cancer mortality after adjustment for sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, self-reported medical history, and other potential confounding factors.

The survival rate of preterm infants is increasing as a result of technological advances. The incidence of intraventricular hemorrhages (IVH) in preterm infants ranges from 25% to 30%, of which 30% to 50% are severe IVH (Volpe III-IV, Volpe III is defined as intraventricular bleeding occupying more than 50% of the ventricular width and acute lateral ventricle dilatation, Volpe IV is defined as intraventricular hemorrhage combined with venous infarction) and probably lead to posthemorrhagic ventricular dilatation (PHVD). Severe IVH and subsequent PHVD have become the leading causes of brain injury and neurodevelopmental dysplasia in preterm infants.

The single pregnancy predicting model of 1 minute Apgar score less than 7 after preterm birth: A retrospective study.

Preterm delivery is greatly associated with perinatal mortality and morbidity, while there is no objective way to identify high-risk newborns currently. This study aimed at discovering the risk factor for Apgar score less than 7 at 1 minute of preterm neonates born with vaginal delivery. A retrospective study was performed in single pregnancy women with a vaginal delivery before 37 weeks of gestation.

Background: Thyroid function is widely considered a lipid metabolism regulator. Prevalence of Simonart's band in cleft children at a cleft center in Indonesia: A nine-year retrospective study.

Background: Simonart's band is a soft tissue band that connects the cleft gap of the base of the nostril or the margin of the alveolus. While research on the prevalence of Simonart's band in cleft lip and palate cases has been carried out in various countries, research on Simonart's band in Indonesia has yet to be conducted.

Objectives: Congenital hemangiomas are rare benign vascular tumors but can lead to serious adverse pregnancy outcomes. Its prenatal diagnosis is a challenge. We explored the clinical applications of prenatal ultrasound for evaluating fetal cutaneous hemangioma and associated complications.
