Background: The birth of large-for-gestational-age (LGA) infants is associated with many short-term adverse pregnancy outcomes. It has been observed that the proportion of LGA infants born to pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is significantly higher than that born to healthy pregnant women. However, traditional methods for the diagnosis of LGA have limitations.

Department of Anesthesiology, Women's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Women and Children's HealthCare Hospital, No.123 Tianfei Lane, Mochou Road, Nanjing, 210011, Jiangsu Province, P.R. China.

Background: Tracheal tube cuff pressure will increase after pneumoperitoneum when the cuff is inflated with air, high pressure can cause tracheal mucosal damage. This prospective trial aimed to assess if inflating with normal saline or lidocaine can prevent increase of tracheal tube cuff pressure and tracheal mucosal damage in laparoscopic surgeries with general anesthesia. Whether changes of tracheal tube cuff transverse diameter (CD) can predict changes of tracheal tube cuff pressure.

CircABHD2 Inhibits Malignant Progression of Endometrial Cancer by Regulating NAD/NAMPT Metabolism Axis.

Mol Biotechnol

July 2024

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Center of Clinical Laboratory Science, The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Jiangsu Cancer Hospital, Jiangsu Institute of Cancer Research, Baiziting 42, Nanjing, 210009, China.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) perform important functions in the regulation of diverse physiological and pathological processes. CircABHD2 exhibits down-regulation in both endometrial cancer (EC) cells and tissues, but the biological roles and mechanisms of action in EC are still unclear. This study aims to provide a theoretical basis for the role of circABHD2 in EC and potential targets for individualized precision therapy.

Cancer Institute & Department of Pathology, Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, Shanghai, China; Department of Oncology, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, Shanghai, China; Central Laboratory, The Fifth People's Hospital of Shanghai Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Metastasis is the leading cause of death in ovarian carcinoma (OC), whereas anoikis resistance is a critical step for the survival of the detached OC cells. Despite extensive research, targeting anoikis resistance remains a challenge. Here, we first identified that argininosuccinate synthase 1 (ASS1), a key enzyme in urea cycle markedly upregulated in OC cells of detached culture, is associated with increased anoikis resistance and metastasis.

Electronic address:

Sucralose, the extensively utilized sweetener, might lead to metabolic disorders with prolonged consumption, but it remains uncertain if sucralose has any impact on female reproductive health. We incorporated sucralose into drinking water and observed food intake, body weight, estrous cycle, follicular development, serum hormones, and insulin sensitivity of mice. The mice did not experience any changes in their food intake or body weight after consuming sucralose.

State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Molecular Medicine, Nanjing University Medical School, Nanjing, China. Electronic address:

The second heart field (SHF) plays a pivotal role in heart development, particularly in outflow tract (OFT) morphogenesis and septation, as well as in the expansion of the right ventricle (RV). Two mouse Cre lines, the Mef2c-AHF-Cre (Mef2c-Cre) and Isl1-Cre, have been widely used to study the SHF development. However, Cre activity is triggered not only in the SHF but also in the RV in the Mef2c-Cre mice, and in the Isl1-Cre mice, Cre activation is not SHF-specific.

June 2024

Department of Obstetrics, Women's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Women and Children's Healthcare Hospital, 123rd Tianfei Street, Mochou Road, Nanjing, 210004, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Preeclampsia is classified into early-onset (EOPE) and late-onset (LOPE) based on the timing of delivery and is associated with abnormal lipid metabolism in pregnant women.
  • A study compared serum lipid profiles of normal pregnant women and those with EOPE or LOPE, utilizing advanced lipidomic analysis techniques to identify differences.
  • The findings indicated significant differences in lipid profiles, with specific lipids serving as potential biomarkers for diagnosing EOPE and LOPE, showing strong diagnostic accuracy in distinguishing both forms from normal controls.

Inflammation plays a crucial role in the initiation and progression of sepsis, and it also induces alterations in brain neurotransmission, thereby contributing to the development of sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). Parvalbumin (PV) interneurons are pivotal contributors to cognitive processes in various central dysfunctions including SAE. Oxytocin, known for its ability to augment the firing rate of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic interneurons and directly stimulate inhibitory interneurons to enhance the tonic inhibition of pyramidal neurons, has prompted an investigation into its potential effects on cognitive dysfunction in SAE.

May 2024

State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine and Offspring Health, Department of Histology and Embryology, Suzhou Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou Municipal Hospital, Gusu School, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu 211166, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Meiotic resumption in mammalian oocytes involves significant changes in nuclear and organelle structures, particularly the transformation of chromatin from a non-surrounding nucleolus (NSN) configuration to a surrounding nucleolus (SN) configuration in germinal vesicle (GV) oocytes.
  • Our research showed that nuclear speckles containing serine-arginine (SR) proteins transition from a diffuse state in NSN oocytes to a more aggregated form in SN oocytes, with the enzyme SRPK1 co-localizing with these speckles during the SN stage.
  • Blocking SRPK1 activity halted the transition from NSN to SN oocytes and caused the collapse of the chromatin structure around the nucle
