Objective: The process of glycolysis from blood collection to centrifugation impacts the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). However, the specific characteristics of the working environment in China and its influence on GDM diagnosis still need to be clarified.

Background: Steroid hormones (SH) during pregnancy are associated with the development of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Early and mid-Down syndrome screening is used to assess the risk of Down syndrome in the fetus. It is unclear whether changes in SH during this period can be used as an early predictor of GDM.

Artificial intelligence in fetal echocardiography: Recent advances and future prospects.

In the past few decades, great progress has been made in prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD). Fetal echocardiography is recognized as the main prenatal screening and diagnostic tool that can accurately detect approximately 85 % of fetal cardiac abnormalities. Evaluation of the fetal heart remains a major challenge in prenatal ultrasound screening and diagnosis due to fetal position, involuntary movement, small and complex fetal cardiac anatomy, maternal abdominal wall conditions, and lack of expertise in fetal echocardiography by some physicians engaged in obstetric ultrasound.

Molecular mechanism and functional significance of Wapl interaction with the Cohesin complex.

The ring-shaped Cohesin complex, consisting of core subunits Smc1, Smc3, Scc1, and SA2 (or its paralog SA1), topologically entraps two duplicated sister DNA molecules to establish sister chromatid cohesion in S-phase. It remains largely elusive how the Cohesin release factor Wapl binds the Cohesin complex, thereby inducing Cohesin disassociation from mitotic chromosomes to allow proper resolution and separation of sister chromatids. Here, we show that Wapl uses two structural modules containing the FGF motif and the YNARHWN motif, respectively, to simultaneously bind distinct pockets in the extensive composite interface between Scc1 and SA2.

Association between maternal gestation weight gain and preterm birth according to pre-pregnancy body mass index and HbA1c.

Background: To investigate the association between gestational weight gain (GWG) and preterm birth (PTB) according to pre-pregnancy body mass index (pp-BMI) and glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) within the normal range.

Methods: We conducted a population-based retrospective cohort study between July 2017 and January 2020 at Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Women were classified into three groups (inadequate GWG, appropriate GWG, and excessive GWG).

Twelfth thoracic vertebra erector spinae plane block for postoperative analgesia and early recovery after lumbar spine surgery in elderly patients: a single-blind randomized controlled trial.

Background: Severe pain after lumbar spine surgery can delay recovery in elderly patients. We explored the efficacy of T12 erector spinal plane block (ESPB) in elderly patients who underwent lumbar spine surgery.

Methods: A total of 230 patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery were divided and randomly allocated to ultrasound-guided ESPB (n = 115) and control (n = 115) groups.

Combining HbA1c and insulin resistance to assess the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus: A prospective cohort study.

Objective: To investigate the association of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) risk.

Methods: Data for this study were from a prospective cohort in Hangzhou, China. We included pregnant women with HbA1c, fasting insulin, and fasting glucose (FG) measured at 15-20 weeks of gestation and underwent oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks.

Background: Maternal thyroid hormones and carnitine are reported to affect neonate birth weight during the second trimester, which is one of the most important markers for fetal growth and perinatal mortality and morbidity. Nevertheless, the effect of thyroid hormone and carnitine in the second trimester on birth weight has yet to be understood.

Aims: Our study aimed to investigate changes in the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the COVID-19 pandemic and postpandemic era and the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women diagnosed with GDM during the blockade period.

Methods: First, we investigated changes in the prevalence of GDM and the population undergoing oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT) after the COVID-19 pandemic. We then collected clinical information from pregnant women diagnosed with GDM to explore the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with GDM during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Galectin-1 expression in the serum and placenta of pregnant women with fetal growth restriction and its significance.

Background: This study aims to investigate galectin-1 (Gal-1) expression in the serum and placenta of pregnant women with fetal growth restriction (FGR) and its significance.

Methods: Thirty-one pregnant women with single-birth FGR but without comorbidities, eight pregnant women with FGR and preeclampsia (PE), and eight pregnant women with FGR and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) were enrolled as the study group, while 20 pregnant women with normal singleton pregnancy in the same period were enrolled as the control group. The serum Gal-1 level was detected using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and Gal-1 expression in the placenta was detected by western blot.

Background And Aims: It has been reported that Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection was more prevalent in infertile populations. HP infection could lead to decreased sperm parameters, and treating the HP infection could improve the quality of sperm. However, studies investigating the relationship between infertility and HP infection are still limited, and more evidence is required.

Background: There is no accepted strategy for applying sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy as an alternative to pelvic lymphadenectomy in cervical cancer. It is unclear whether and when pelvic lymphadenectomy can be safely replaced by SLN biopsy alone.

Role of anti-Müllerian hormone and testosterone in follicular growth: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is now considered the best serum biomarker of ovarian reserve, while basal sex hormones are classic markers used for assessing ovarian reserve. The interaction between AMH and sex hormones are complicated and not sufficiently addressed. In this study, we took diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) as two extremes of ovarian reserve (deficient and excessive respectively) to investigate the role of AMH and sex hormones in follicular growth.

Mitochondria are key sources of intracellular oxidative metabolic signals that maintain cellular homeostasis. Here we report that tissue and cellular wounding triggers rapid and reversible mitochondrial fragmentation.

Construction of implantation failure related lncRNA-mRNA network and identification of lncRNA biomarkers for predicting endometrial receptivity.

Insufficient endometrial receptivity is a major factor leading to implantation failure (IF), and the traditional way of morphological observation of endometrium cannot determine the condition of receptivity sufficiently. Considering that long-noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate endometrial receptivity and competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanism works in plenty of biological processes, ceRNA is likely to function in the pathology of IF. In the present study, we aim to construct an implantation failure related lncRNA-mRNA network (IFLMN), and to identify the key lncRNAs as the candidates for predicting endometrial receptivity.
