There is a lack of effective treatment methods for advanced cervical, and the therapeutic HPV vaccine is a promising option. The design of an efficient therapeutic vaccine is one of the main challenges. In the current study, we constructed a novel HPV nanovaccine that could effectively inhibit the progression of cervical cancer by combining nanotechnology and photodynamic therapy.

This study aims to investigate the curative effect of Kangfuyan capsule in the treatment of damp-heat and blood stasis type of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and its influence on serum inflammatory factors IL-6, CRP and TNF-α. A total of 83 patients with PID were randomly divided into two groups: Western medicine group (control group, n=41) received oral antibiotics (azithromycin + metronidazole) alone and the traditional Chinese medicine combined with Western medicine group (experimental group, n=42) received Kangfuyan capsule based on Western medicine therapy. Clinical efficacy between these two groups and the influence of drugs in serum inflammatory factors (IL-6, CRP and TNF-α) were compared.

March 2022

Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease of Zhejiang Province, Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China.

Background: Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) could be triggered by community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Peripheral blood eosinopenia are strongly associated with increased mortality. In hospitalized AECOPD patients with CAP, eosinopenia may be used to identify patients with high risk of death on admission.

The placenta may play a key role in the activation of inflammation and initiation of insulin resistance (IR) during gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) pathogenesis. Interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18, regulated by NLR family pyrin domain containing-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, are important inflammatory cytokines in the initiation of maternal IR during GDM. However, the mechanism responsible for the regulatory of NLRP3 inflammasome in placenta remains unknown.

The role of P2X7 receptor in infection and metabolism: Based on inflammation and immunity.

Int Immunopharmacol

December 2021

Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Key Laboratory of Clinical Cancer Pharmacology and Toxicology Research of Zhejiang Province, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Cancer Center, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou 310006, China; College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Hangzhou 310053, China. Electronic address:

The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) is a ligand-gated receptor belonging to the P2 receptor family. It is distributed in various tissues of the human body and is involved in regulating the physiological functions of tissues and cells to affect the occurrence and development of diseases. Unlike all other P2 receptors, the P2X7 receptor is mainly expressed in immune cells and can be activated not only by extracellular nucleotides but also by non-nucleotide substances which act as positive allosteric modulators.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have emerged as a powerful oncologic treatment modality for patients with different solid tumors. Unfortunately, the efficacy of ICI monotherapy in ovarian cancer is limited, and combination therapy provides a new opportunity for immunotherapy in ovarian cancer. DNA damage repair (DDR) pathways play central roles in the maintenance of genomic integrity and promote the progression of cancer.

From early life to adulthood, the microbiota play a crucial role in the health of the infant. The microbiota in early life are not only a key regulator of infant health but also associated with long-term health. Pregnancy to early life is the golden time for the establishment of the infant microbiota, which is affected by both environmental and genetic factors.

This study explored the role of MTDH in regulating the sensitivity of breast cancer cell lines to gemcitabine (Gem) and the potential miRNAs targeting MTDH. The expression of MTDH in cancer tissues and cells was detected by immunohistochemical staining or qRT-PCR. The target genes for MTDH were predicted by bioinformatics and further confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay and qRT-PCR.

Article Synopsis
  • The study highlights the rising number of multiparous women in China due to the second child policy, with concerns about complications from previous cesarean deliveries.
  • It analyzes data from 36,355 women to compare pregnancy outcomes between those with previous cesarean deliveries and those with previous vaginal deliveries.
  • Results indicate that women with cesarean histories experience more complications, suggesting the importance of minimizing unnecessary cesareans to enhance future maternal and neonatal health.

Purpose: Although the clinical effect of dienogest for endometriosis after conservative surgery has been proven, the cost-effectiveness of this new pharmacotherapy remains to be determined. We aimed to assess the health economic implications of dienogest versus a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a; goserelin in the Chinese setting.

Methods: A decision tree model was developed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of dienogest compared with a GnRH-a (goserelin) after conservative surgery for endometriosis during a 2-year time horizon from the perspective of a health care system in China.

Resveratrol, in wines, has been implicated to be primarily responsible for the French paradox, remaining controversial. Herein, we elucidated the representative vasodilation-increasing polyphenols from concord grape juice (CGJ) using ex vivo-to-in vivo extrapolation (EVIVE). We verified the interference-free antioxidant response of CGJ post-dose supernatant of deproteinated serum (CPSDS, as ex vivo proxy) in isolated aortic rings, and in healthy, and HO-treated endothelial cells (H-ECs).

Osteoimmunity is involved in regulating the balance of bone remodeling and resorption, and is essential for maintaining normal bone morphology. The interaction between immune cells and osteoclasts in the bone marrow or joint cavity is the basis of osteoimmunity, in which the macrophage-osteoclast axis plays a vital role. Monocytes or tissue-specific macrophages (macrophages resident in tissues) are an important origin of osteoclasts in inflammatory and immune environment.

Fetal heart sound is an important part of fetal monitoring and has attracted extensive research and attention from scholars at home and abroad in recent years. The fetal heart rate, extracted from the fetal heart sound signal, is one of the important indicators that reflect the health of the fetus in the womb. In this study, a maternal-fetal Holter monitor based on f ECG technology was used to collect maternal heart rate, fetal heart rate, and uterine contractions signals, isolate the fetal heart rate, and design an algorithm to extract the fetal heart rate baseline, acceleration, variation, wake-up cycle, and nonlinear parameters.

BACKGROUND In controlled ovarian hyperstimulation protocols worldwide, depot gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) pretreatment is generally used for pituitary desensitization. The delay between the GnRH-a administration and starting gonadotropin treatment varies greatly, from 25 to 60 days. However, the association between exposure days to GnRH-a before the onset of gonadotropin administration and the clinical outcomes remains unknown.
