Background: Glioblastomas (GBMs) are the most lethal brain cancer with a median survival rate of fewer than 15 months. Both clinical and biological features of GBMs are largely different from those of low-grade gliomas (LGs), but the reasons for this intratumoral heterogeneity are not entirely clear. Transfer RNA (tRNA)-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) were derived from tRNA precursors and mature tRNA, referring to the specific cleavage of tRNAs by dicer and angiogenin (ANG) in particular cells or tissues or under certain conditions such as stress and hypoxia.

In mammals, ovarian function is dependent on the primordial follicle pool and the rate of primordial follicle activation determines a female's reproductive lifespan. Ovarian ageing is characterised by chronic low-grade inflammation with accelerated depletion of primordial follicles and deterioration of oocyte quality. Macrophages (Mφs) play critical roles in multiple aspects of ovarian functions; however, it remains unclear whether Mφs modulate the primordial follicle pool and what is their role in ovarian ageing.

Due to high levels of serum gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), perimenopausal or menopausal women, girls with central precocious puberty, women of polycystic ovary syndrome, and females receiving long-term GnRH agonist (GnRHa) treatment are at substantially higher risk of developing obesity. However, it remains poorly understood how GnRH affects body weight. Here, we explored whether the gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GnRHR) was expressed in adipocytes and how GnRHR mediated lipid accumulation and the development of obesity.

This study investigated the association between a healthy lifestyle with all-cause, cause-specific mortality, and cancer incidence among individuals with metabolic syndrome (MetS). Healthy lifestyle scores were created based on MetS management guidelines, including never/quitting smoking, moderate drinking, good sleep, healthy diet, sufficient exercise, social support, and less sedentary behaviour. Weighted healthy lifestyle scores were further constructed and classified into three groups: unfavourable (lowest quintile), intermediate (quintiles 2−4), and favourable (highest quintile) lifestyles.

Am J Obstet Gynecol

August 2022

Key Laboratory of Reproductive Genetics (Ministry of Education) and Department of Obstetrics, Women's Hospital School of Medicine Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Cervical insufficiency is a major cause of second-trimester pregnancy loss and spontaneous preterm delivery. Transabdominal cervicoisthmic cerclage is usually performed before pregnancy for patients of cervical insufficiency, in whom transvaginal cervical cerclage procedure cannot be placed or has failed previously. Performing a transabdominal cerclage becomes a huge challenge owing to the enlargement of the pregnant uterus in patients who were indicated for transabdominal cervicoisthmic cerclage but were missed before pregnancy.
