Objective: Laser vaporization is less invasive than conization for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). The outcome of laser vaporization for CIN is empirically known to depend on the colposcopic findings, especially localization of the lesion. In this study, we sought to identify factors involved in the outcome of laser vaporization.

Background: Sweden recently adopted new labor induction guidelines lowering the threshold for post-term pregnancies to 41+ weeks. Despite evidence-based foundation, these guidelines stirred controversy among maternity care professionals, who voiced concerns about potential risks and unintended consequences, such as a rising Caesarean section rate. Midwives also highlighted potential impacts on their roles, workload, and working environment; implications that could affect obstetricians and gynecologists as well.

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are a commonly used form of long-acting reversible contraception, which either contain copper or levonorgestrel to prevent pregnancy. Although symptomatic patients with indwelling IUDs may first undergo ultrasound to assess for device malposition and complications, IUDs are commonly encountered on CT in patients undergoing evaluation for unrelated indications. Frequently, IUD malposition and complications may be asymptomatic or clinically unsuspected.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) represents a major health care burden in women, but its underlying pathophysiological mechanisms have not been elucidated. We first used a case-control design to perform an exome chip study in 526 women with POP and 960 control women to identify single nucleotide variants (SNVs) associated with the disease. We then integrated the functional interactions between the POP candidate proteins derived from the exome chip study and other POP candidate molecules into a molecular landscape.

The successful management of a childbirth emergency will be dependent on the decision-making of involved obstetricians and gynecologists. Individual differences in decision-making may be explained through personality traits. The objectives of the present study were (I) to describe personality trait levels of obstetricians and gynecologists and (II) to examine the relationship between obstetricians' and gynecologists' personality traits and decision-making styles (Individual, Team and Flow) in childbirth emergencies; also controlling for cognitive ability (ICAR-3), age, sex and years of clinical experience.

Introduction: Simulation and coaching have become increasingly important in laparoscopic skills acquisition. This study was designed to evaluate if access to the recorded audio and video feedback after a single proctored session improves the acquisition of laparoscopic suturing skills in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) residents.
Methods: Twenty OB/GYN residents received a single face-to-face coaching session on a laparoscopic vaginal cuff closure model.
Proactive management of SARS-CoV-2 requires timely and complete population data to track the evolution of the virus and identify at risk populations. However, many cases are asymptomatic and are not easily discovered through traditional testing efforts. Sentinel surveillance can be used to estimate the prevalence of infections for geographical areas but requires identification of sentinels who are representative of the larger population.

Importance: The measurement of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels in different body fluids is a commonly utilized tool in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as other fields. It is often one of the first steps in the medical workup of female patients, and the results and interpretation of this test can have significant downstream ramifications. It is essential to understand the uses and limitations of hCG as a testing and therapeutic measure to appropriately evaluate, counsel, and treat patients.
