Introduction: Professional caregivers' perspectives on dementia and on people living with dementia (PlwD) can influence their feelings, judgements and behaviours in work situations, for example, how they think about symptoms, disease progression and the impact on a person's quality of life. Their individual dementia mindset, which can be investigated with the 12-item Dementia Mindset Scale (DMS), might influence job satisfaction, work-related well-being and person-centred care. The aim of the proposed replication study is to confirm the results of the original study of the DMS and to test whether a malleable mindset is correlated with higher levels of caregiver education, dementia-specific professional experience/competence and dementia knowledge.

Background: Since diet is generally recognized as an important factor directly modulating the gut microbiome, it is also considered a potential environmental triggering factor for the pathogenesis and onset of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). While the habitual and sex-related dietary behavior of the general population has been the subject of extensive study and reporting, data on IBD patients' dietary behavior and especially its sex-related differences are underrepresented. However, as diet is an important factor in the course of IBD, we hypothesized that men and women with IBD have a different dietary profile than the general population.

The hormone renin is produced in the kidney by the juxtaglomerular cells. It is the rate-limiting factor in the circulating renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which contributes to electrolyte, water, and blood pressure homeostasis. In the kidneys, the distal tubule and the collecting duct are the key target segments for RAAS.

Expression of the double homeobox 4 () transcription factor is highly regulated in early embryogenesis and is subsequently epigenetically silenced. Ectopic expression of due to hypomethylation of the D4Z4 repeat array on permissive chromosome 4q35 alleles is associated with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). In peripheral blood samples from 188 healthy individuals, D4Z4 methylation was highly variable, ranging from 19% to 76%, and was not affected by age.

Background: Employees' decision to speak up or to stay silent can have implications for health care providers, employees and people who need care. As a result, a shift is needed from blindly following guidelines to implementing a sustainable proactive organizational culture in which employees, especially nurses, can evaluate their work environment and take advantage of growth opportunities. The aim of this review is to analyse the characteristics of employee voice opportunities in the health care context, particularly for nurses.

Background: Sleeve lobectomy (SL) and extended SL (ESL), which aim to preserve pulmonary function and enhance the quality of life of patients while ensuring oncological outcomes, are valuable surgical options for the treatment of centrally located non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to compare perioperative adverse events and long-term survival between SL and ESL in NSCLC patients, providing a comprehensive review of surgical outcomes, complications, and survival to assess the roles of SL and ESL in thoracic oncology.
Methods: This single-center retrospective study assessed the outcomes of NSCLC patients who underwent SL or ESL from June 2014 to January 2022.

Chronic pain is common among children and adolescents; however, the diagnoses in the newly developed 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) chronic pain chapter are based on adult criteria, overlooking pediatric neurodevelopmental differences. The chronic pain diagnoses have demonstrated good clinical applicability in adults, but to date, no field study has examined these diagnoses to the most specific diagnostic level in a pediatric sample. The current study aimed to explore pediatric representation within the ICD-11, with focus on chronic primary pain.

The kidney is the main organ that senses changes in systemic O pressure by hypoxia-PHD-HIFa (HPH) signaling, resulting in adaptive target gene activation, including erythropoietin (EPO). The non-essential transition metal cadmium (Cd) is nephrotoxic and disrupts the renal HPH pathway, which may promote Cd-associated chronic renal disease (CKD). A deeper molecular understanding of Cd interference with renal HPH signaling is missing, and no data with renal cell lines are available.

Introduction: A femoral head fracture (Pipkin fracture) is a rare but severe injury. The optimal treatment is controversial, and there is a lack of research focusing on treatment strategies. The study aimed to analyze the treatment strategies in comparison to the outcome in patients after traumatic hip joint dislocation (THD) with concomitant femoral head fractures.

Objective: In this observational study, we determined the distribution of mHealth applications (apps) in Germany using data from the FeverApp registry.
Methods: The registry data were processed to assess general monthly trends in app distribution, and a seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average model was decomposed to investigate time series. A sample comparison was made matching data from cold-called against self-registered distributers of the FeverApp.

Background: The policies and mission statements of nursing homes support the implementation of person-centred dementia care. The Dementia Policy Questionnaire assesses the content of person-centred dementia care in policies. To date, it is unknown whether these policies exist exclusively in dementia care units and whether the policies are consistent with the mission statements of nursing homes.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges, particularly for vulnerable populations residing in confined settings such as refugee shelters: Physical distancing measures were challenging to implement in shelters due to shared rooms or communal use of kitchens and sanitary facilities, which increased the risk of infections. Meanwhile, individuals' capabilities for individual protection strategies were severely impaired by the structure of the shelters. Consequently, shelters had the duty to develop and implement strategies for the prevention and handling of SARS-CoV-2 infections.

Introduction: In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to assess the outcome following orthopedic surgery. But, we are lacking a standard set of PROMs to assess the outcome of hallux valgus surgery. The aim of this study was to analyze the chosen patient rated outcome scores used in studies reporting on hallux valgus surgery.

Introduction: Over the last decade, the number of patients receiving home mechanical ventilation (HMV) has increased significantly, which has led to a limited availability of specialist centres, not least due to the scarcity of healthcare professionals. This situation was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is therefore assumed that the repurposing of resources has led to an aggravated change in the healthcare structure in HMV.

Introduction: Drawing tasks are an elementary component of psychological assessment in the evaluation of mental health. With the rise of digitalization not only in psychology but healthcare in general, digital drawing tools (dDTs) have also been developed for this purpose. This scoping review aims at summarizing the state of the art of dDTs available to assess mental health conditions in people above preschool age.
