Variable lymphocyte receptors (VLRs) are the antigen receptors of jawless vertebrates such as lamprey. VLRs are of growing biotechnological interest for their ability to bind certain antigenic targets with higher affinity than traditional immunoglobulins. However, VLRs are disulfide-bonded proteins that are often challenging to produce requiring genetic modifications, fusion partners, non-scalable host cell lines or inclusion body formation and refolding.

Clinical trials (CTs) often suffer from small sample sizes due to limited budgets and patient enrollment challenges. Using historical data for the CT data analysis may boost statistical power and reduce the required sample size. Existing methods on borrowing information from historical data with right-censored outcomes did not consider matching between historical data and CT data to reduce the heterogeneity.

Significance: In the last years, time-resolved near-infrared spectroscopy (TD-NIRS) has gained increasing interest as a tool for studying tissue spectroscopy with commercial devices. Although it provides much more information than its continuous wave counterpart, accurate models interpreting the measured raw data in real time are still lacking.
Aim: We introduce an analytical model that can be integrated and used in TD-NIRS data processing software and toolkits in real time.
The plant shikimate pathway directs a significant portion of photosynthetically assimilated carbon into the downstream biosynthetic pathways of aromatic amino acids (AAA) and aromatic natural products. 3-Deoxy-d--heptulosonate 7-phosphate (DAHP) synthase (hereafter DHS) catalyzes the first step of the shikimate pathway, playing a critical role in controlling the carbon flux from central carbon metabolism into the AAA biosynthesis. Previous biochemical studies suggested the presence of manganese- and cobalt-dependent DHS enzymes (DHS-Mn and DHS-Co, respectively) in various plant species.

The transgene has been widely used for evaluating germline apoptosis in . Here we observed an increase in embryonic lethality in the MD701 strain that contains the transgene and a strain that outcrossed the transgene into the N2 wild-type strain. While the outcrossed strain had a significantly lower level of embryonic lethality than MD701, it still showed significantly higher embryonic lethality than wild type.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is a potentially life-saving treatment for children with relapsed/refractory B-cell hematologic malignancies, and remains an important investigational therapy for other childhood cancers. Yet, access to this class of therapies remains suboptimal through both commercial use and clinical trials, especially in children, adolescents, and young adults. Using a series of case-based discussions, we outline guidance on real-world medical decision-making, and offer potential solutions to enhancing access to CAR T-cell therapy as a treatment modality.

BACKGROUND Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) encompasses a group of disorders ranging from hyperplastic to malignant lymphoid proliferations in the post-transplant period owing to immunosuppression, often in the setting of EBV transformation. PTLD is a rare complication of immunosuppression that, like lymphomas, can have a variable presentation based on disease localization. We report a case of PTLD mass effect at the porta hepatis for the first time in the literature, resulting in hepatic artery stenosis (HAS) and common hepatic duct obstruction.

Progressive forms of interstitial lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), are deadly disorders lacking non-invasive biomarkers for assessment of early disease activity, which presents a major obstacle in disease management. Excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition is a hallmark of these disorders, with fibronectin being an abundant ECM glycoprotein that is highly upregulated in early fibrosis and serves as a scaffold for the deposition of other matrix proteins. Due to its role in active fibrosis, we are targeting fibronectin as a biomarker of early lung fibrosis disease activity via the PEGylated fibronectin-binding polypeptide (PEG-FUD).

Motivation: The exploration of the 3D organization of DNA within the nucleus in relation to various stages of cellular development has led to experiments generating spatiotemporal Hi-C data. However, there is limited spatiotemporal Hi-C data for many organisms, impeding the study of 3D genome dynamics. To overcome this limitation and advance our understanding of genome organization, it is crucial to develop methods for forecasting Hi-C data at future time points from existing time-series Hi-C data.
