Background: Antibiotic impregnated cement coated nails have been described in literature with promising success rates. However, they need removal at a later stage. This study focuses on use of a PLA-precoated antibiotic nail that stops eluting antibiotic after a while and can be retained later as it behaves as a standard interlocking nail in the long run.

Objective: Cauda equina syndrome is a relatively rare condition with a disproportionately high medico legal profile. Definitive management involves prompt surgical decompression with outcome dependent on timing of surgery. Documentation of a comprehensive clinical and neurological assessment including examination of anal tone and perianal sensation is essential in reducing litigation and identifying patients requiring urgent surgical decompression.

Unlabelled: A 75-year-old long-term male smoker and poorly controlled hypertensive presented with a 3-month history of intermittent epistaxis refractory to cauterisation with silver nitrate. Nasopharyngeal examination revealed a mass in the post nasal space. An urgent endoscopic biopsy confirmed an extraosseous plasmacytoma.
