Background: Femoral neck fractures in elderly individuals cause significant morbidity, and their management is particularly challenging in rural areas where healthcare access is limited. The recommended treatment for displaced femoral neck fractures in elderly patients with poor mobility, cognitive dysfunction and multiple comorbidities is a hemiarthroplasty, which can be performed with various implants, including monopolar implants like Austin Moore prosthesis (AMP) and bipolar prosthesis (BP). In developing countries like India, rural areas often have constraints with healthcare resources.

Hypertonic saline with high dose furosemide improves refractory heart failure. In this case series of 10 patients of refractory acute decompensated heart failure, effect of HSS with furosemide was compared with furosemide alone. Patients responded to the therapy better, with faster decongestion, without significant adverse effects or worsening renal function.

Objective: The objective of this study was to report the 12-month oncological outcomes for patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) within the prospective, international COVIDSurg Cancer study.
Patients And Methods: Eligible patients were aged ≥18 years and scheduled for elective surgical management of NMIBC with curative intent (transurethral resection of bladder tumour [TURBT] or bladder biopsy) from 21 January to 14 April 2020. The primary outcome was disease recurrence within 12 months of previous elective TURBT/bladder biopsy.

Background Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are commonly treated with percutaneous K-wire or plate fixation. The relative efficacy and stability of these methods, particularly in osteoporotic patients and in cases involving both distal radius and ulna fractures, remain subjects of clinical debate. Objective This study aims to compare the outcomes of percutaneous K-wire fixation versus plate fixation in patients with distal end radius fractures, focusing on postoperative stability in osteoporotic conditions and both-bone distal end fractures.

Purpose: To comprehensively review the literature about numerical aberrations of the orbital muscles of ocular motility (here referred to as extraocular muscles [EOMs]) and the levator palpebrae superioris (LPS).
Methods: The authors summarize the embryologic bases and the possible etiopathogenetic causes of numerical aberrations of the EOMs and the LPS and organize these lesions into several broad categories. The clinical and radiologic diagnostic challenges are discussed.

We hope to add to the literature evidence regarding the increasing morbidity associated with an invasive infection by a normal body commensal, (). An increasing amount of literature documentation of intra- and extracranial disease manifestations following a systemic infection by this micro-organism is noted. We describe the findings of severe, necrotizing right lung disease and possible septic brain emboli in a 54-year-old gentleman in whom microbiological investigations suggest , and mixed anaerobes as possible culprit micro-organisms causing his severe disease state.

Sternal fractures are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, with some patients requiring admission for pain management, often through systemic analgesia, which may be ineffective. Regional anaesthetic techniques are more challenging for sternal fractures than rib fractures and require experienced clinicians. Local anaesthetic techniques are becoming recognised as a modality to improve pain control and to reduce complications from opioid use, especially in the elderly.

Introduction: Orthopaedic theatre lists are an important tool which must convey essential information to all staff to run an effective and safe theatre list. However, there are no set standards or guidelines on the components of an Orthopaedic theatre list. The objective of this study is to formulate guidelines for elective Orthopaedic theatre lists which improve efficiency and reduce errors.

A description of an acute hospital presentation with severe tachyarrhythmia requiring multiple direct current cardioversions in a 45-year-old male bodybuilder with underlying cardiomyopathy possibly caused by long-term anabolic steroid abuse and more recent thyroxine misuse is described. A review of the literature regarding the above associations was also done. This case report further adds to the literature regarding the harmful effect of androgenic anabolic steroid misuse (with the added effect of thyroxine misuse in this case) on the heart.

A positive antinuclear ribonucleoprotein antibody test, a weak-positive antinuclear antibody test, an elevated C3 complement, and possible trauma were identified as potential causative or promoting factors for RE in this patient. Literature evidence regarding the challenges with the aetiopathogenesis description, diagnosis, and management of this rare condition has been reviewed in this article.

At our local trauma meetings, we have observed that below-knee casts are often applied incorrectly which can result in suboptimal outcomes for patients and increase the burden on plaster room services if re-application is required.
