Tuberculosis and sarcoidosis are chronic systemic diseases that have similar pulmonary and extra-pulmonary manifestations. It is likely that infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) is a common pathophysiologic mechanism for tuberculosis and sarcoidosis.
